Should Arsenal use Nketiah to tempt Brentford into agreeing Ivan Toney transfer?

Should Arsenal offer Eddie Nketiah in exchange for Ivan Toney in a player-plus-cash deal? That’s a question I’ve been thinking about since I saw an interesting report last night.

According to Football Transfers, Brentford is thinking of replacing Ivan Toney with Johan Bakayoko from PSV. The report suggested that the Gunners could convince Brentford to accept a swap deal instead of paying the reported £50 million for Bee’s hitman’s signature.

They added that Brentford is one of the clubs interested in Eddie Nketiah, and Arsenal should consider tempting their Premier League opponents with a Nketiah plus cash deal for Toney’s signing.

Nketiah has shown promise in Arsenal colors, but he has failed to meet expectations—this season he’s only scored five league goals. It may be time for Arsenal to part ways with him, and a number of Premier League clubs believe they can offer the Hale End graduate an opportunity to reach his potential.

It would be intriguing if Thomas Frank and the Brentford decision-makers turned down the opportunity to sign Nketiah and still got a cash offer for a player who would depart for free in a year.

Arsenal should consider a player-plus-cash deal for Toney, assuming they still want him. Do you think this is a feasible idea?

  1. A very bad idea because Nketiah is just very unlucky with a manager who turned to him when lacas was struggling and dumped him later. I bet if he was given the chance just like KAI HE would be doing well.

  2. No! No! No! Stick this in the box labelled Definitely Not, along with Vlahovic.
I was reading that Arteta is thinking (just “thinking”) of including young goal machine Chido in some match day squads.

    1. I fully agree with you on that.nketiah just hasn’t gotten the minutes to prove his worth.

  3. Nketiah has had his chances, but never produced enough to get serious consideration to compete for starts.

Nice lad, good teammate, but just not at the level we need for a backup.

  4. Toney will be not be available for half the matches because he will be suspended, we don’t want a player like him playing for us

  5. Arsenal should go for New Castle’s Isak. With PL experience and score against so called bigger teams

  6. Why would we(Brentford) want one of your hand me downs? We’ve already signed Toney’s replacement in Igor Thiago.

If Nketiah isn’t good enough for you what makes you think we’d want him anyway, our recruitment could find a much better value for money signing.

  7. no Toney, just not an Arsenal player

and if we all hadn’t noticed, he is not scoring goals

it’s the so called ‘elite clinical goal machine’ or nothing

Toney much closer to latter than the former

  8. Nketiah will yet prove that he is way better than the likes of Toney. Just let him go to a team where he can have more playing opportunities. Not at Arsenal anyway.
