“There’s no need to rush into things” – Patience and maturity from Oxlade-Chamberlain
With his name listed among those of the most promising young talents in European football, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be forgiven for expecting a lot from his first season at Arsenal, especially with his considerable £15 million price tag.
However, the young Englishman – quite possibly an inclusion in Fabio Capello’s squad this weekend – has expressed his willingness to make gradual progress during this huge step-up in his career. He said, “It’s down to me at the end of the day, I’ve got to put pressure on the boss to select me. I can only do that by training well and, when I do get my chance, impress him. The boss has said it’s up to me; he’s going to work with me the same way I have to with him. It’s a work in progress and I don’t think there’s any need to rush into things.”
This is certainly a far cry from Francis Coquelin’s most recent comments which, despite coming from a player who has had more chances than Oxlade-Chamberlain, insinuated anger and frustration at not being played enough.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s mature outlook on his chances at Arsenal is refreshing to hear and he undoubtedly has a point. Theo Walcott didn’t become a regular for two seasons after his arrival at the club in January 2006, playing no games in his first half-season. It could have been no different for ‘the Ox’ who, despite scoring two goals in just four appearances, is still – as he rightly described himself – “a work in progress”.
Is the youngster ready for full first team action or is he right to want to take his time?

Ho does disrespecting the mangager and causing an upset display the right attitude? Chamberlain said he needs to start putting pressure on the manager through his displays in the training ground so he’s showing a desire to play! He’s just displaying that desire with a bit of professionalism and maturity! Coquelin should take note..

about the signing btter expect nothing..like in jan..ppl keep mentioning cahill, jagielka, samba, dann. .n lastly way down the list mert(no ofence, mert ia a gud footbaler)..same with the midfield, wenger wont goes for someone that we keep mentioning n insist one,he chus hes own player..even were trying to cnvince vertonghen better than squid, wenger stil think squid ia a true quality..denilson,bendtner,chamakh is gunner quality..n he think that them is btter than podolski, goetze, hazard n so on..wenger wil keep own with his style,so btter not expecting much like pato(cud b da same as the benzema rumours)shall see on january..btter focus now till end of december..bfore that period we cn brag about it,f we keep wining our nxt four fixtures in premier league, win in quarter final against shity using our young+some experienced one(shall see the arshavin n coq cmplete the 90 minutes)gt thru to last 16 of champs league..then go to premier league against shity away with cnfidence..then it wil b a gud sign for us..n til then we cn focus about the transfer..even wenger wudnt thought about it yet,he will wait til the last minute,f we hpe for big n many signing..hpe for bein thrash once again..then wenger wil buy..f not..we stay ds way til end of the season..

Yet still… i think wenger should give him some experience in the field… Yeah sure his young… but he needs experience and maybe adding him to starting XI in the premiership could give some flair in the midfield that seemed to be missing something… I think he is better than walcott currently and he’s just played 4 games…
