Abdul: The players Wenger needs to buy….
So exactly what should Arsenal look like at the start of 2011/2012 season? by Abdul
First of all selling Chamakh (£13m) Squillaci (£5m) Denilson (£8m), Bendtner (£10M), Eboue (£8m) and Almunia (£5m) would see the team generate roughly £50m. The board, in particular new owner Stan Kroenke I would hope, should give Wenger another £30m in addition to spend. This would mean £80m for Wenger to spend in the summer. Although i dont see Arsenal splashing this amount of money in one single transfer window.
So who should Wenger replace these incompetent players with?
I would like to see Gervinho added for around £12m in order to replace Bendtner. I would also like to see out-of-favour Jermaine Defoe come in for about £15m as he is a proven goal scorer even if he is a Tottenham player, but whether he would betray Tottenham is another matter.
I would also like to see Samba to join the Gooners for about £8m to reinforce the squad, whilst Koscielny settles in. Seb Larsson on a free transfer would see a good crosser, as well as a good set-piece taker, rejoin Arsenal and add that edge when taking set pieces.
Hopefully Brazilian star Wilian will join for around £15m to add some quality on the wing.
With £30m remaining Arsenal could buy Lukaku for about £10m so that a young, physical and proven striker for the future would bolster the squad.
I would like to see Shay Given move from the Eastlands to the Emirates, leaving us with two class keepers in Given and Szczsney. I would estimate Given to be worth around £6m as he is unwanted and at the latter stage of his career.
The last £14m could be spent on a player like Gary Cahill who I’m sure would relish playing for a Champions League side. He may cost a bit more but I would be hopeful that the Arsenal board wouldn’t mind funding Wenger the remaining money in bringing Cahill to north london.

No way is denilson worth more than 5 mil.
And whatever the case, we are not barca. we do not sell players within 1 year of signing them.
To say that arsene has 80 mil to spend is purely fictional. Sure, it could be the case, but in that case instead of these squad players, i would rather go for a couple of marquee signings.

disagree. Cahill would be much more expensive as would cahill. We should go for falcao/cavani and vertonghen/samba as wenger wont spend to buy cahill. The only player that would fetch you projcted sum would be chamakh, and the poor guy just got here! He’s a good player too, no reason to sell him.

i honestly believe Cesc is gone, i dont think we should try to keep him at the club if he wants to leave, let him go. barca wont pay more than 35 mil so why not 28/30mil + Bojan?? get a young potentially world class STRIKER not annother wing forward which wenger loves to buy (walcott,arshavin) and i fear gervinho will turn out to be.

How on earth would u recomend Defoe for Arsenal? Chamakh is a good player as he can score and create goals and we need his headers in desperate times. He is one of the most efficient headers in the PL. We need both Cahill and Samba to push Verminator to the left and let go Clinchy. Gervis and Benzema or Falcao and perhaps Yann M’vila to compete or play with Song depending on the formation. Hazard, well we need this guy.

Agree with everyone that Chamakh will stay, the prices are all wrong and i’d add that Clichy is going so you need to include him in your money received and have a transfer target to replace him. I’m in the camp of Vermaelen returning to LB and bringing in an authority figure at CB. Depends who’s avaialable and for what price though. Baines would be very useful if we can get him for a reasonable amount because he’d add a lot of assists to a position where we’ve had 4 assists in the last 3 years. If your wingers like to cut inside and your full backs aren’t providing a threat your attacking play becomes very narrow and relatively easy to defend against, as we saw on many occasions last season.

Worry about how we’re going to make space for new players. New signings don’t worry me, it’s getting rid of those we don’t want which in turn affects how much money we have left to buy bigger names.
The reason for Wenger holding off is that he needs to find new homes for Denilson, Bendtner, Squillaci, Almunia, Rosicky. Once they go, there will be many signings.

chamakh is good dont underestimate him. he had some good touches duuring last seasen, even if it was his first. In my opinion he is the finisher typpe, i mean he has some ability with his head and can fucking put the ball in the net with it, and he is also good with the passing thing. So he is a good player! But i think the most important is that he does not want to leave guys he loves arsenal and this could mean more then the quality, believe me!

I like your thinking! However I beg to differ on Chamak. Chamak should stay and just be given more game time. I also would be comfortable if very experienced players like Etoo and Falcao were brought to Arsenal it would help. The major problem with Arsenal is that when the team is leading it easily gives room for the opponent to come back and also when it is losing lacks players who can read the game and initiate moves that would motivate the whole team to fight back and win the game. These players are non other than Etoo,Cahill, Samba, Falcao, Van Persi, Veramalin, Alexander Song, Willian, Gervinho, Nasri, Fabregas if he does not go, Walcot, Szecsney, Sagna,Benzema and Asharvin.

Do you people really believe Wenger will have a clear out? I know he said he plans to be unusually active, this doesn’t mean flog the entire squad (which btw are human beings, not computer animations). The fact that people are calling for Squillaci’s head is ridiculous! I know he had a poor first season, but give the guy a chance to adapt (La Liga and Ligue 1 are hardly renound for there physicality). He’ll come good next year along with Chamakh.
New players are not necessarily what’s needed. New blood is. And that can come in the form of Bartley, Lansbury and Frimpong. They need an opportunity to proves themselves and given the chance they will. But I still think the squad needs a couple of signings with Premier League experience! NOT Hazard, Falcao, Sakho, Inler e.g.Otherwise we’ll get a repeat of last season.
Given, Samba and Enrique is what’s needed for the defence in my opinion.
No defensive midfielder, Frimpong will do a fine job covering for Song.
Up front (although he has no Premier League experience to my knowledge) Jelen from Auxerre. He’s experienced, and has a very good eye for goal. Similar to Van Persie, just less Dutch and creative, more direct.

Mate you have seriously gota wake up…who in there right mind would pay £13m for Chamakh and £8m for Eboue….try cutting those figures in half…then theres also Given for £6m???please…hes 35yr reserve keeper, hes quality dont get me weong but he is as i say 35 and a back up ….and the funniest has to Lukaku for £10m??? what are you plaing FM 09 or something …i havnt seen a rumor for him less than £18m and most have been nearer the £25-30 mark….mate seriously if ur gonna write for this site please put more effort nito ur research because every time i read stuff on here its like reading Caught Offside…COMPLETE RUBBISH and stories with no credibility at all!!!

Sorry man but these are ur own personal interests for the club to buy. I mean would u choose Defoe over Falcao, who is actually linked to the club? Sakho is a far better choice than Samba, player of the season in the French league is a pretty big achievement at a young age. Chamakh shud stay as he needs more time to settle in to the gunner side. Gervinho for me is not a great choice when both Eden Hazard and Stuart downing are among Arsene Wengers interests.

Chamakh (£13m) Squillaci (£5m) Denilson (£8m), Bendtner (£10M), Eboue (£8m) and Almunia (£5m) Very hopeful valuations. Instead I would consider selling:
Squillaci (£2m) Denilson (£6m), Bendtner (£7M), Eboue (£8m), Almunia (£2m), Rosicky (3m), Arshavin (10m), Diaby (6m), Clichy (10m), Nasri or Fabregas (40m)
= 84m
Add 25m from the board = 109m
Buy the following
Baines DL = 10m
Samba DC = 12m
Gervinho FWD =12m
Hazard FWD/AMLR = 25m
Moussa Sissoko DMC = 10m
Total spending 69m leaving 40m for some Wenger youth purchases or even better an absolute stonking striker: Karim Benzema (30m)
Any gaps that occur during the season can be plugged using Vela, Frimpong, Lansbury and the likes.
These purchases stuff Arsenal with what’s been missing – metal and flair.

It’s easy to say but it will never happen. Wenger will sell bentner denilson, clichy and maybe almunia. Almunia almost for free, clichy 8m, bentner and denilson around 15m maybe. Chamakh will stay and sadly squillaci too. Wenger will buy gervinho, not world class(maybe he will be one day) but much better than bendtner. There will be no new gk at emirates next season, also no defoe. I think that gervinho is only offensive player arsenal will buy in summer, pity. Samba will come, but no Cahill, wenger have enough cash at his disposal (60m) but still to stubborn. I doubt there will be more new player at emirates maybe a replacement for fabregas if he leaves. There will be no falcao and benzema sadly, i would prefer falcao. Despite all this roumors we have to stay realistic, this is still wenger and real. He will bring some more players like jenkison, but that doesnt count for me. I hope that im wrong, and he will buy samba+cahill or vertehogen. Falcao+gervinho+willian. Dream on

I still believe my team: Arsenal will come back again in proper form. We need as a matter of urgent to buy 2 matured defenders and a strong mid fielder, who have the ability to serve as a play maker. GUNNERS 4 LIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
