Adam Kemp – Wenger must shoulder the blame for Arsenal’s incompetence
Another must win game goes begging after a dreadful team performance. by Adam Kemp
Arsenal’s proud tradition of competing at the top seems to be dwindling away as so does Champions League qualification. Today was a must win game given that Everton and Spurs are in pole position to grab the only trophy associated with Arsenal of recent seasons. I mean the trophy for finishing fourth which is far more important than the League and FA Cups. Wenger is content to finish fourth as long as he can reach this aim he will not sign ‘special players’ to improve the team. Today we were reckless and Koscielny was an utter disgrace for rugby tackling Dzeko at the start of the match. Cost-Points-Shelly has a habit of doing this in important games and he has let all the fans down yet again. Nevertheless even with ten men the inability to defend or penetrate the final third is just inexcusable for a club like Arsenal.
In yester years we could go down to ten men and still win games with conviction. The problem is that we have too many inept players who should not be in the club. Jamie Redknapp summed it up well in respect of us fans paying A-List ticket prices to watch far too many B-List players. The like of Giroud and Podolski are certainly nowhere near the quality of Wright, Henry, Bergkamp or Van Persie. The only A-List players at Arsenal are Sagna, Wilshere and Cazorla as they could all play for any team worldwide. Our B-List players include the likes of Vermaelen, Arteta, Diaby and Walcott to name but a few. These types of players need better players in and around them to perform to an acceptable level and unfortunately we do not have enough A-Listers. We also have plenty of Z-List players all either of loan or rotting in the reserves earning their fat communist paychecks.
I love how Wenger has defended his socialist wage policy of late and the value placed on the cost of tickets at the Emirates. He had the cheek to state that the only way the club could remain competitive with the likes of Man City and Chelsea is to charge what they are charging. Well then Mr Wenger you tell me how is selling A-Listers like Fabregas, Nasri, RVP, Song, Toure and Clichy remaining competitive. Especially when you make a well-publicised annual transfer dealings profit with the replacements being B-Listers like Santos, Arteta, Gervinho, Giroud and Podolski. So you have the audacity to overcharge the fans and hit our wallets to significantly weaken the team year after year. It’s okay though as long as we play Champions League football every season as an indication of what success means to you. Since we have moved from Highbury this club takes one step forwards before taking a further two steps backwards.
The only man responsible for our demise is Arsene Wenger and I firmly stand by my judgement that he could not even manage a piss up in a brewery. He never comes out and admits to his mistakes and always pretends that the desire is there but lacked urgency, or some recycled garbage. You are telling us that there are no A-List players out there in the market ready to buy, to help elevate us back to the platform we belong on. Arsenal are ranked sixth in Europe on the official European Coefficient list with the likes of only Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid and FC Bayern in front of us. Based on our performances this season it seems an unrealistic accolade as we are arguably the sixth best team in England let alone Europe. Everton and Tottenham do look better than us and several of their players could walk into our team. Baines, Bale and Felliani would without doubt walk into our side as we are truly terrible.
It’s okay Wenger the board love you, some fans still worship you and the players speak highly of you. You really earn your money by setting your own transfer and wage budgets, coaching the team, delegating what the other coaches can do and everyone else’s job too! You are certainly a Jack of all trades but a master of nothing! You have refused the advances of financial assistance from our second largest shareholder as you would prefer to overcharge all the fans. If you probably had money to spend you still probably wouldn’t as you refuse to pay for top players. The only reason you bought Cazorla was to capitilise on Malaga’s financial uncertainty. If you would have gone out on 1st January and just signed the right players then maybe the result would have been different today.
What is starting to really depress me is the lack of quality in the attacking areas as this is sixth game in twenty-one league games we have failed to score. Arsenal could consistently score two to three goals a game and if we ever failed to score it was once a season. I recall Arsenal going through two complete seasons scoring in every game which proves that we have too many B-Lister’s up top. If Walcott was around ten seasons ago he would be lucky to get a reserve team game given his competition. Wenger is a blind stubborn impotent waste of space and he is a cancer on this team. He has no clue how to take this club forward as whoever he buys seems to make things worse. Finishing third last season and winning no trophies was a disastrous season, as is finishing fourth with no trophies. It will be a catastrophe if we finish fifth or sixth this season and then maybe the board will wake up and sack this mad man.
Love Arsenal, Hate Wenger!

I dread to think what the Bosch Bayern will do to us after we have played another 5 games and saturated the life out of everyone of our half decent players… We will be absolutely knackered come first leg of CL after daunting games against Chelsea & Liverpool..coupled with the West Ham game and Swansea replay..
Maybe we should put a weakened team out against Bayern as it’s clear we will get Pissed on regardless!!!
Save our so called strongest team (+any new additions if they ever arrive..?)for a crack at the FA cup and the challenge for 4th placed trophy!?

this defeat proves that our players are not good enough.
we need players in various positions especially in midfield and in attack. our defense is shambolic and attack not threatning at all. we have only one striker at the moment giroud. podolski and walcott have been playing wide most of the time. we clearly dont have a defensive mid fielder. arteta and diaby are attacking players. frimpong is too inexperienced and has injuryproblems.
wenger please get a cdm and a striker quickly or we riot.

There are many footballers not playing CL football that are head and shoulders above some of our current crop…
Which great players did we attract because we play Champions league football??

No one is denying what Wenger has done in the past. But can you really justify 8 years of lame excuses, saying 4th is like a trophy, recently becoming tactically inept and the sale of our best players each year, how is that going to make the other players feel, when there getting closer to winning something only for a player to be sold. Heck, the guy even admitted he controls the transfers and wages, and wants the wages to be “democratic” rather than based on performance so that people like Squillachi gets paid similar amount to Walcott at the moment and for what? That P’s me of the most because he is the highest paid manager, more than SAF!
And I think he doesn’t play Rosicky because of his age, something he can’t make money out of. Maybe he’s the reason for Chamack and Arshavin have become worse.
Those fans who continue to go and watch the games annoy me the most, it seems more like a family outing to some rather than a game. The only way we can change things is by not going or else the board won’t care. But the fans will continue to flow in no matter what.

@green gunner, couldn’t agree more. I think its ridiculous people are blasting Arsenal for losing to the freaking Champions when we played almost the whole match a man short. Nobody’s realizing the score could’ve been much worse and that it wasn’t a terrible effort given the situation.
Now on the article, I agree we need more quality players. This team clearly isn’t good enough, and just looking at our bench you can tell we lack depth too. Wenger clearly doesn’t get the picture and as long as he puts finances first I don’t think he ever will.

@SP14: We are all grateful for the great years under Wenger in the past. But that has nothing to do with his many, failures, mistakes and poor decision-making now. Don’t confuse these two separate circumstances.
History has shown that many successful coaches fall into the trap of believing they are almost infallible and as such they make stupid decisions believing that every decision will turn out well simply because THEY made the decision.
It has been a trap that many successful coaches in many sports have fallen into. Often, good coaches recognize their mistakes in this regard and correct it – they come back down to earth. Let us hope Wenger can do the same but just now it does not look good.

Bad performance today, although i think we could have won if Koscienly remained on the pitch.
Why is everybody flaming on Vermaelen? He really was class today and in my opinion and he showed the will to win the game!(unlike Ramsey, Podolski and Cazorla)
Even in the last 5 minutes he rushed forward and took the freekicks quickly! We are 4 good signings away from being title contenders: M’Biwa,M’Vila, Isco, Lewandowski…

I think many fans are just disappointed and frustrated because of the many failures of Wenger and management over the past 2 seasons and they are desperate for an end to it. The fans are looking for some fight from someone other than Jack.

Yes, Nick from Portugal. But maybe with Graham we were winning a few trophies. You know with players with a winning mentality and passion for the club. I wouldn’t criticise Graham because without his back 4, Wenger wouldn’t have achieved things at Arsenal in his first years.
The fact is Graham is not managing Arsenal because there was accountability then. Now, all is left is complacency and two fingers up the at the fans.
Diaby could be rusty but he played his usual game.Jogging around, misplacing passes and offering very little to the team.
It’s no hysteria,It’s not only about this game of the sending off. It’s about the last 8 years. Maybe you think Wenger is great (LOL!) and he deserves another 8 years to underachieve but most people are getting fed up with his moronic excuses, outdated views and failed experiments.
Sacking Wenger may not be the answer but certainly is a good start.

The second I got to the line that said sanga was one of the a list players, I had to stop reading. Sanga is our worst defender this year…and on top of that, he can’t cross the ball either!!! No production from either end. Needs to be benched and give jenkinson a chance to shine. He was fantastic earlier this seasOn. I think he might get the best out of giroud with his dangerous balls into the box. Sanga can hardly pass the ball any more

Depressing game today. I thought we actually had the better of the 2nd half.
1st half was dreadful however – complete lack of desire, preference to whinging rather than tracking back, falling asleep on free kicks. The contrast to City couldn’t be greater. However it wasn’t even about skill, they just were up for it and we weren’t.

Wenger has lost his way and it is time for someone new. His lack of activity in the transfer market and letting players run down their contracts. His comments about ticket prices being fair and the stubbornness of never having a plan b shows he is a bit of a dinosaur. Arsenal have improved since Graham and Rioch and now they need to improve again. The board need to go as well but why they keep making their £20 million profit a year it will never happen. So sad these Yanks have destroyed our team even sadder is for Wenger to support them publicly.

For the first time in many years, we are missing out on top four and so the champions league. For the first time in 30 years, Man City beats Arsenal at home. Wenger has grown us to be like Liverpool – a mid table club with a large fanatic following of disillusioned fans that are not keen on a trophy. He is more of a spectator – always absent minded enough to make critical substitutions after the 80th minute. Placing Koscielny ahead of Per was wrong – just like sending Djorou on loan and leaving behind Scuilaci. Lets lose a few more games and FA and see what the board really prioritises

A lot of people are saying things like ‘we lost to the champions and were down to 10 men it’s not that bad.’
It is that bad. We shouldn’t be having players sent off for such awful defending. Time and again we see our players inability to remain goal side, take up decent positions and ultimately defend well. Today one of them desperately tried to recover and gave away a penalty and got sent off.
This was his choice, a better defender would not have been in such a position to begin with.
Who signed him? Arsene. Who trains him week in week out? Arsene. Who chose to bring him in instead of Mertesacker? Arsene!
Maybe there are just no super quality players out there to improve our squad? Or maybe Arsene doesn’t have to courage to admit that half the players from the bottom half clubs would add to our squad.
And finally before anyone says it NO DIABY IS NOT THE ANSWER, HE IS NOT LIKE A NEW PLAYER AND HE WILL BE INJURED AGAIN WITHIN WEEKS.
Change the record arsene

The first half was utterly shambolic & I would punch Koscielny in the face if I could. The only players out there that look up for it were JW10 & Cazorla. The lads did redeem themselves with a mostly gritty second half performance.
Mine Deen can rot in hell. Terrible performance from a head referee!
So Wengers master stroke is what? Put the BFG up front and see if he can knock in a header? He’s scored 1 goal for Arsenal.
I’m truly starting to think Le Prof needs to go in sabbatical. I know we lost to the defending champs only 2-0 and down a man but what I saw out there leads me to believe that even 11-11 the whole match the result would’ve been the same. Theo’s still dragging his feet on signing after you’ve deployed him as a striker over and over & what did he do today!?!?! Grow a pair, tell him to put pen to paper NOW or get out of the way do we can sign the quality we desperately need!

Adam kemp was all out against Wenger. The performance against City was not all that dreadful considering the situation and the conspiracy spearheaded by Dean. Had anybody listened to the comments of the league board chairman and the assistant referee? Then you know that the result of the match was predetermined. That Arsenal coped very well in the second half and got City overwhelmed in the last 15 minutes showed that City was not spectacular were it not for the referee that made the difference. If anybody want to abuse the manager, do so but fro the City’ match, you were wrong to pick on the manager. Adam Kemp and his illks could apply for Wenger’ job. It is often easy to critiise when you are not involved directly. Enough of these useless criticism.

I couldn’t agree more. Theo is a boy trying to be a man. An amateur pretending to be a pro footballer. If you’re interested Barca have a 14 yo South Korean kid by the name of Seung Woo Lee who would put Walcott and most English strikers to shame. The kid is already worth 1M. He can do things that Walcott couldn’t do in a lifetime. Check him out. There’s no excuse for Theo anymore. He’s no longer young. He’s at that age where he should be reaching his best form, not still improving after 7 years! Look at Aguero, Bale etc, they are about the same age or younger. I’m sick of reading silly posts like Walcott could become world class. People really need to learn how to analyse a player, instead of paying attention to just the flash. At 90K per week, that’s a kick in the face for Cazorla, Arteta and other senior players in the team! Oh the English, they screw their own reputation by constantly trying to protect their traditional values as an influential empire. The fact remains that English players are shite and can’t compete with countries like Germany, Spain etc. liverpool tried to build an English core and look what happened. They are all flops! Arsenal is trying to achieve the same thing with contract renewals for our British players. I find it funny how Ramsey gets an extension after performing terribly for the last 14 months and Eduardo gets shown the door. We can obviously build a core of German or Spanish players, but the English won’t allow that. It’ll make them look bad and they can’t have that in their own backyard. It’s like stuff the club, England comes first! BULLSHIT!!!

There are no check and balances, he knows whether he wins or not his job is secured so complacency comes in.
I am still and always be a gunner bt I have lowered my expectation from the team.

I think if Adam Kemp want to assign fools, he has to be on top of the list. You stated in earlier posts that Clichy, Nasri and Song were b-list players. Now, all of a sudden how do they turn into A-players, just because they’ve left? Are you sure Wenger instructed Kolchelny to bear-hug Dzeko? Is he the only player to have done the same thing? A few years back we went to Man C and beat them 3-0 after they had Boyata sent off in early minutes, just like Kolchelny, is there anything to learn from that dear football wizard? If you didn’t know, the lesson is, that if you have a man sent off against a quality team, you’re bound to suffer, that’s the lesson, and the reason why we got beaten yesterday. It happened to Spurs, they were leading 1-0, had Adebayor sent off andf lost 5-2.
Yes, Arsene should buy a few players, but please dont peg yesterday’s loss to any of this. We might have won had Kolchelny stayed, that’s all. By the way, why don’t you submit your application for the post of Arsenal manager? Yeah, i guessed right, because you have been mediocre in everything you have done in life!

Kos cost the loss of yesterday’s game. In modern football, any team playing 11 v 10 without getting a result is downright incompetent. Man City were not about to do that. We beat Spurs earlier in the season because the team got hold of the game after the dismissal. Its our turn, this time. The dismissal was right but there will be “ball room dancing” of the type that got Kos dismissed in half the games coming up this weekend. Its the refereeing inconsistency that sometimes backfires on teams. The frustration with the team is that there have been very few performances that matched the second half effort yesterday. If they played like that all season, we would be so much better for it. It means that the players have been shortchanging the fans because that effort was the gutsiest I have seen all season despite the loss.

We say what eventually kills a man starts as an appetite. Wenger slowly developed an appetite for selling star players. This will lead to his down fall(sacking). He behaves like he is the board chairman! The man has no knowledge on corporate governance. He should not have accepted making a profit to rank above success in the field as his key performamce indicators.Selling van persie will eventually cost Wenger his Job.It will be difficult for wenger to attract A class players because his weaknesses have been exposed and arsenal will need another manager with different skiils to implement another project(Taking them to another level)

I have had enough of this site I am officially retiring, there are four or five commentators good for a discussion – but the majority of commentors/writers are fair weather fans.
90% of the stuff he has written in this article is a joke – it is pandering to semi-fans who don’t give a toss about the club. People that never go to games, or if they live in foreign countries they don’t watch games live (often at ridiculous times of the day) – the majority of people here sit on a playstation play fifa then go on footy rooms an watch the highlights, yet still think they have a right to discuss Arsenal. Or people that moan about ticket prices yet don’t pay any of their own money into the club – they just expect it all.
If you want Wenger out – fair play thats your opinion, but ending an article with love Arsenal Hate Wenger is a disgrace. Adam Kemp is a c*nt and until fans stop accepting dross like this being written our club will be a joke.

It’s time we fan’s did something about Wenger’s Stubornness and the boards stinginess. I once admired Wenger; but his tactics and team are too predictable now and belong in the past. Arsenal are now a shadow of the once Invincibles. Where is the desire to fight for points? Where is the commitment? It truly is a sad day when we can’t even beat a League Two side like Bradford City! My question now is are we going to sit back and wait for this club to slide down the tube(ala Liverpoo) or are we going to take action?
