Adebayor's "emotions" made him taunt Arsenal fans, did they make him kick Van Persie?
The ex-Arsenal striker Emanuel Adebayor says that he was overtaken by emotion after he scored the goal that effectively killed off Arsenal’s challenge to Man City at the Eastlands stadium today, and he has apologised at the end of the game.
He scored the header that put Man City 3-1 up and immediately sprinted to the other end of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans, who had been been taunting their ex-striker all the way through the game.
“To be honest, I’m very sorry for all this,” said Adebayor.
“Sometimes, the emotion takes over. That’s what happened. I was very happy to score the goal. Before the game, people have been saying and writing things and the emotions took over.
“People who love me and know me know how I behave.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was not happy with Adebayors behavior in the game, and remarked that his celebration was unwelcome, but he said he would reserve judgement on the incident where Adebayor was thought to have kicked Robin Van Persie in the face a little earlier.
“I have heard about it on the radio,” he said.
“But I have not actually seen the incident because the ball moved away pretty quickly. I will have to look at it and assess it.”
Mark Hughes is hoping that the brilliance of the game will stop the events surrounding Adebayor from dominating the headlines tomorrow, but he is probably hoping in vain.
“We are hopeful that the game itself will be the shining light rather than any one incident,” said Hughes.
“We do not want it to cast a shadow on an outstanding game, but we will have to see what happens.”
“Emmanuel was outstanding today,” Hughes continued.
“Amid some high quality goals, perhaps the best piece of skill was his run down the byline to set up Shaun Wright-Phillips for the chance he missed. If that had gone in, it would have been goal of the season.
“He is an outstanding talent and the best in the world at what he does.”
Unfortunately for Hughes, what he did today to Van Persie and the Arsenal fans was “outstanding” for all the wrong reasons.

The boss of arsenal Mr. Arsene Wenger seems to be confused at what he is doing and he is always blaming other teams and referees for his shameful mistakes and we are really tired of hearing his endless excuses for his defeat.
Apparently not only is Adebayor jealous of Bendtner, (the story of the sneakers in the dressing room, and Bendtner being a product of the Arsenal Academy, being handed everything on a plate) etc etc but he is also jealous of Van Persie’s extremely good lucks.
brilliant article
after watching adebayor’s behaviour today,
i can now see y he was a bad influence wen he was at arsenal.
i hope FA review both incidents wit RVP and the supporters and do sumtin about it… he says he is sorry but i doubt he is.
The highlite of the game was adebayor getting a chair chucked at him. Yeah he’s a wanker, but what was wenger thinking with his team selection? How did diaby and denilson get in the team ahead of eduardo? The team looked totally unbalanced with no natural goal threat.
Adebayor is a cunt, I think wenger should put a case on his violent conduct on Vpersie.
As for Arsenal, very dissapointing losing 4-2 to an average (yes nothing special about them) Mcity. Wasted tones of chances up front with horrible shots and the one thing I realised, Clichy is the culprit for the last 3 goals they scored. WTF he was doing so high on the pitch puting in a heavy tackle that nocked himself and ManCity started the attack from his area. Just watch the last mancity 3 goals and you’ll see he is the one to be blamed.
Gallas and Verm looks shady but with his leftback putting in tackles so high up the pitch, they will have to cover the empty space left by Clichy.
Upfront we had so many chances to level it up although at 4-1 but just scored one beautiful rosicky goal. On that fucking cunt Adebayor, he just loved it celebrating his goal infront Arsenal supporters. I hope this opened our egoistic manager’s eyes how aweful we are atm and buy quality players in next transfer window.
Fuck Ade and ManCity!
After this game anti-Wenger used all the same excuse—selling 2 stars to city.
I’m not saying you to be anything, I agree with you that we still lack proper players in a few positions.
But losing to them and having that CUNT did what he did to us, you guys are still saying we shouldn’t sell those two is so so so confusing to me.
You want that bitch in our squad? Even after what he did (I should say after he confirmed what kind of being he is)? In losing Toure we gained Verminator which I think 99% of us will say a good deal. And losing that, again sorry for my bad language towards this ‘person’, cunt left us better off….I would kick ‘him’ out anytime to rid the cuntiness out of the at-least-100% giver squad.
Just like Tony said, we as supporters of this club have a right to bitch and moan and curse at our demise but we, as fans, have to pick ourselves up and fight again.
I wish Keown would still be here playing for us though, he’d beat the crap out of those bitches anyday just like he’s shown time and time again…..
Robin van Persie has issued the following statement following an incident with Emmanuel Adebayor at Saturday’s game:
“I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor’s mindless and malicious stamp on me during today’s match.
“We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical, I too have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent. He set out to hurt me today.
“I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful. He has shown a real lack of class today, to me and the fans.
“I do feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from my eye. I have not received an apology from him, there were no words exchanged afterwards. He had his own agenda today and that is bad for football. It’s bad for the game we all love.
“I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the result of today’s match. We do not hide from that disappointment but I need to speak out about his behaviour.”
stop bitching about ade u ideots and except the defeat. its you who drove him out of the club and now when hes showing his potential you are fucking jelous.. we were well beaten not because of ade but cz we dont have a good enough squad and a stubborn and childish manager who is playing with arsenal like a toy. he needs to go back to basics and build a team consisting men not some midgets.. i mean what are we thinking crossing in the box when there is no one to head funny… llolz
Im really sad we lost today. I’ll be the first to say that we werent at our best. Wouldv been an even greater defeat if robinho and tevez were playn. We shouldnt write off our title hopes just yet though, the season has only just begun. Dissapointed that eduardo didnt get to start. Perhaps wenger was resting him for champions league? The important thing is that we keep our heads up and get behind our boys.. Now more than ever. Im confident we’ll be ontop of the league come january. Keep the faith.
midnight
wenger is wrong tactically he wasnt resting eduardo for the champs league hes banned for that remember??
Lol.. Oh yes now i remember eduardo’s banned. Well, city have a good home record. I guess we’re just cursed when it comes to manchester games. We didnt look as great as we did before the international break. You think maybe that had something to do with it? Or was it just the team selection? I think its the latter. On a more positive note, RVP and Rosicky scored! As a team we can only improve from here on out.
diaby is way better then bendner he have two goals on his name being a midfielder and bendner being a rwf only have alot of miss chances on his name like last year. players like diaby, bendner, eboue and denilson has caused wengers downfall wtf is he thinking starting with these players. its not about the players available to be selected its about having such shit players in the team in the first place they are nowhere near arsenal standards its wenger who make them look good a little somtimes. nothing can be done now we are in the same situation as we were this time last year. we had enough time to sort the team outin the transfer market but everybdy came up with the same shit ARSENE knows best.. and we ended up losing two first teamers with no replacements with alot of voids to be filled. at the end of the season wenger said we are looking for 1 or 2 players and hold the current squad together but happend is the other way round and on top of that all the money acquired from transfers vanished. let me tell you whats gonna happen next in january some new player will be baught in order to save the squad and in may or june another big player will be sold to get the money and so on and on and on….
look ill be honest we played absoloutely poor today END OF almunia needs 2 sort himself ive heard that he hasnt been okay as ive heard something about his mother passing away if true then im extremley sorry to hear it and heart with his family but he needs 2 fix himself up his a 32 year old keeper with alot of experience our best performers today to be honest was gallas and vermaelen they just keep on getting better and better the team needed experience and i still think we need a really experienced DM full stop, has anybody realised soon as wenger took the captaincy of gallas his stopped shouting at players and that was the only way the team were playing grinding and ugly at times last season it was through gallas. positives were rosicky and finally a striker scores lets pick ourselfs up starting from wednesday jsut cant wait really cant…then wigan, fulham blackburn and then birgmingham
we need to win those games END OF !
