Agent confirms Arsenal bid for prolific Colombian hitman
When it comes to Arsenal transfer rumours there is usually lots of smoke but very little fire, but it seems that the news that the Gunners are keen on signing Porto’s hotshot striker Radamel Falcao are not without substance.
The Colombian hitman has an amazing record of 39 goals in just 41 games for Porto as he helped his club do the Double in Portugal and also win the Europa Cup this season.
He has a buy-out clause of £26m in his contract, and after a season like that it would be no surprise if there were not lots of takers.
His agent Claudio Mossio has said that the Gunners, and also Harry Redknapp’s Spurs, are the two clubs that have already approached Porto with a bid, but it seems the Portugese giants are also trying to persuade him to sign an extension with a higher buy-out figure.
Mossio said: “Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are the two clubs that are keen to sign him, and have already tabled an offer for Falcao,”
“The club that matches that clause has a good chance of signing him. Porto want to open contract talks and offer him a new and improved deal to insert a higher minimum fee release clause.”
If Wenger could get around £15m for Nicklas Bendtner, then surely it is worth paying the extra to get this man as his replacement?

Arsenal123 has a good point. One of things Arsenal fc must realize is that we are loosing fans and potential fans by constantly failing in the manner we have been for the past 6 years. Just look at Liverpool, they cannot compare with Arsenal worldwide and that because of the limitations they have had in recent years. Already Chelsea has made a lot of ground internationally in terms of support and I’m sure the biggest loser in that has been Arsenal. Something must be or by the time we start counting the cost it would be too late. And if Wenger leaves, some will claim that we are behind because he left. A club decline is often a process (especially a club with the pedigree that Arsenal has). I believe Arsenal fc should not build everything based on Wenger alone. We must have a system and the players who would do well with or without Wenger’s style of play.

Falcao has similarities with Javier Hernandez. A great goal poacher, pacy, ruthless and good scoring headers. That’s what Arsenal need right in this time. If his clause is not 25 mil, Falcao’s value should be more than 30 mil due to his outstanding performance this season. We don’t ask Wenger to spend 50 mil on 1 player, but if he wants a proven top quality player, he must ready to spend 15-25 mil this time.

If Solomon is allowed to disrespect and spit on my club even though he is not even from North London then I am allowed to state facts about the majority of African fans.
Johnny you stupid clown, the reason why we did not win a trophy is because we moved to all new stadium which needed money to repay our debt. I know that you are a little kid but try to comprehend that money does not grow on tree and we have to earn it. This means that our transfer budget has been reduced and even now we only have £35 millions to spend including waging cap. This is not a lot of money and yet Wenger managed to keep us in the top 4 under these conditions.
Now the interim debt has been paid off which will allow Arsene to spend on World Class players.
BTW I am studying Economics at LSE and Arsene has done a fantastic job at Arsenal with so little budget.

Arsene has been monitoring or should i say following this guy since his River plate days and for Arsene to still be talking about him now speaks for itself. I’ve always had a problem with how Wenger go about his scouting for players. After his scouts(he’s got arguably the best scouting network in the world at his disposal) might have completed their home works on these players and all it remained is for the players to be snapped up for peanuts, thats when Wenger will start procrastinating and before u know it, his rivals would have signed up such players under his nose. The same can be said of Benzema, Gareth Bale, Ronaldinho, Fernando Torres, C Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Edin Dzeko, Suarez…., the list is endless.
@ londongunner, the fact that u get to watch Arsenals games at the emirates stadium or being a white doesnt make u a better Arsenal fan. I think he will be a great player to have on your team! His ability to poach goals is definitely what we need in those games were our passing game is not working! This being said, 25 mil? No chance I think of us spending that eventhough much of his transfer can be covered with the sale of ‘the best striker in the world’ bendtner! His wage however is another story! If Arsene is spending 20m+ on a striker i don’t see it being this man from porto. We have a better chance of signing Benzema (as one previous person stated here) as he’s French and is very selfish on the pitch which is something that’s needed.
