Agent confirms Arsenal interest in Lucas Biglia
Arsenal have been linked with the Argentinian midfielder Lucas Biglia since the summer after his brilliant performances for Anderlecht in the last few years.
Biglia recently announced that he is now ready to move on to bigger and better things so he can become a starter for his country, and Arsenal scouts have been regular visitors to Belgium to watch him in action along with other Premiership sides.
Today Biglia’s agent Enzo Montepaone, has revealed that Arsenal are indeed one of the interested paties in signing his client, along with Man Utd who are still seraching for a natural successor to Paul Scholes to toughen up the Red Devils midfield.
“Fiorentina, Arsenal and Manchester United? The interest of those clubs is real,” Montepaone said. “He would easily earn double than at Anderlecht but his first intention is to grow and he wants a club where he can do that.
“Lucas has a contract with Anderlecht until 2015 and if the club don’t want to sell, he will continue to play there.
“What offer could be agreed with Anderlecht? The agreed minimum is €8million (£7m).
“We have time until 1st February.”
Its a relief that Alexander Song is not going to the African Nations Cup, but if he gets injured again Arsenal only have the inexperienced pair of Francis Coquelin or Emmanuel Frimpong (who IS going to Africa) as cover for the Cameroonian. Surely it makes sense to bring in the 25 year-old Biglia to add some extra steel to the Arsenal midfielder for those “wet Tuesdays at Stoke”……

we hv song,arteta,coquelin,frimpong dfensive holding mid.ramsey,wilshere,diaby,rosicky centre role.we hv plenty.cn we hv a playmaker such as matta or silva that cn gve us somethng in final third.that cn slot thru passes.good vision. such as fabregas,xavi.. there is silva,matta. style.dynamic,good passer.rambo dd not offer much for now bt certainly good for the future. hate it now city hv tke some of our style of play due to nasri n silva in the middle. do we need a spainyard playmaker?? there is only fabregas,xavi,silva n matta that is top.damn spanish footballer.

Cavani is great! But he’ll be playing the Champions league with Napoli, so No Chance!

I don’t trust papers when it comes to links, much less agents looking to boost their clients salary and their own. Biglia would be a good purchase as he will provide depth and plays like arteta.
On a side note, I’ve been raving about the need for a striker in January but I say f*ck that now. We should get a proven mid 20′s striker (say p. Cisse or Ba if he keeps his form up) in the summer and give park and Walcott a shot. Neither have been given sufficient time up top.

I think we have enough in the midfield area, We have Jack coming back, He will be the main man and step into the cesc or nasri role. Also i feel we need another world class goal scorer rather than a new playmaker as then we can then go 4-4-2 if required with RVP dropping to Bergkamp role. Cavani would be fantastic but not much chance.

if theres one thing i have come to learn is to not get excited about transfer speculation linked to arsenal because none of the targets will ever become real plus none of the players we were linked to in the summer actually got signed so treansfer speculation should be for the birds as simple as that

@Liam U are right but I think we definitely need that Playmaker or creative mid more than a striker. Since we lost Fab we have been grinding out goals and that is just it. We always had it easy to make goals cos of our style of play. But without the creativity our players have adjusted to make goals the scrappy way which is huge credit to them. But with a good fab replacement any one of them can score easily. Our problem was never to score it was to defend. Now we have good backline so if we can get that creativity we can score. VP is an intelligent striker making goals out of nothing but strikers need good chances created so the likes of Chamack, Walcott, Gerv and Park could easily get on the scoring sheet

We already have enough midfielders.
Future- ramsey, frimpong, Coquelin(sp?) Wilshire.
Now- arteta, song, benayoun, rosicky, diaby, wilshire (said twice cause he’s a star now and in the future)
We just need a half decent back up striker that we can rely on if god forbid RVP gets injured!

I wouldn’t be excited with all the names linked with Arsenal as the possible transfer targets. According to History of Arsenal this has never happened. Let us just wait and welcome the one who will be signed. Let the Professor do his job. But honestly we need a striker.
