Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Plays Starring Role For England
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has only just turned 18, but already the new Arsenal signing is making his mark for the England Under-21 team.
Last night England Under-21′s took on their counterparts from Israel in a friendly at Barnsley’s Oakwell ground and Oxlade-Chamberlain came off the bench at half-time to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 victory for the England youngsters.
He set up the equaliser after 58 minutes, won the penalty which put England 3-1 up and he also set up the fourth goal for Arsenal’s Henri Lansbury who is currently on loan at West Ham.
Former England left back Stuart Pearce is the boss of the Under-21′s and he was full of praise for the youngster after the game. He said, “Alex gave us a massive lift when he came on. All his training during his time with us has been very good. We had an 11 v 11 on the second day and after 10 minutes I said to my No 2 Steve Wigley, ‘He’s got to play.’ He has a big future ahead of him.”
Last night capped a great weekend for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who also starred in the 6-0 win over Azerbaijan on Thursday evening when he set up another two goals for Henri Lansbury. Lets hope that when he pulls on the Arsenal shirt we see much more of the same from the young man.

He’s going to be the best winger arsenal ever had!! His crosses are lethal, his runs are supersonic… Precision and speed is the best mix! Just hope he is a loyal lad… Come on arsenal the future is bright ^^

Lets not question the kids loyalty! he could of signed for any of the big four(six) clubs, but to his and his fathers credit, they held out for Arsenal, so welcome Alex, now show us what all the fuss was about!!

Please Mr. Wenger listen to my stupid, idiotic and annoying comment on the Internet about who I think you should buy that I post on every blog I find.
Please buy Ronaldo, Tevez, Messi, Xavi, Pele, George Best, Roy Keane, Zidane and a young Thierry Henry. Please Mr. Wenger, pretty please, only if you buy these players like I did on FIFA will Arsenal be a good team again.
Sorry just thought I’d get that in there before we see the usual ones.
The best thing about Chamberlain is that he means Theo’s spot on the team is no longer guaranteed so it may well force him to pick up his game. Either that or Wenger may well be confident enough in Chamberlain on the right wing to start playing theo in a striker role.

Bongo – Agreed (your sarcastic biy about buying every great playr in the history of football). I too hate seeing people post stupid irrelevant posts about players who will never come to Arsenal.
Chamberlain – I really hope the hype is all true. If so, yet another reason fro AW haters to shut up. They all talk of loyalty, but when the rubber hits the road, and loyalty to a managers is where it’s at – they all jump ship. Bunch of hypocrites! It’s funny how even those players who leave Arsenal (Fabregas, Nasri … although the latter – good riddance), have only praise for our trusty manager. Its says a lot about the character of the man.
Sucks about the Verminator. Still, lets hope for the best and support our players (and managers) in the coming months, and hope for more signings in the next window.

@bongo,no-ones said anything yet.is this really necessary buddy????most non-akbs dont want wenger 2 buy d above.u know and we know we cant get those. they jus want le prof 2 go 4 realistic targets…… lol
btw now i am suddenly realising dat chamberlain is worth all d hype,if hes going 2 get just his crosses alone perfect, then theres no doubt hes going 2 b a star.after not signin an expensive striker,i think wengers planning 2 place walcott 2 his preferred position and start chamberlain there.good 4 alex,d reviews abt him hav been gud so far.imagine if miyaichi also lives up 2 d hype(fingers crossed)…

It was lansbury who came on at half time and turned it round, he forced the momentum back englands way and gave all the other players like oxo a foothold in the game.
Lansbury was also the star of the 6-0 victory with 2 goals 2 assists and again taking control of the game. Wenger has judged him on an hours worth of pre season football and the last 10 mins of a beating at old trafford, please give him the credit he deserves. Oxo was good but lansbury was the star of both games and miles ahead of anybody else!
Ill never forgive wenger if we loose lansbury, its absolutely disgusting a player of his quality doesnt even get a chance to prove himself!
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Toby,
I’m not sure if we were watching the same game (Eng vs Israel) but I thought Lansbury was doing just ok whereas AOC was brilliant!
Cheers~

Theres allot more to football than the stuff that catches the eye, its often the stuff that goes unnoticed that wins games. Lansbury forces the issue, changes the pace, gives away free kicks and wins them, pressures the ball and opposition. Without these players doing these jobs the oxo’s of the world dont come into the game, in short in any football match you have to earn the right to play and lansbury does this for the other players, gerrard is the king of this at liverpool and its why arsenal have looked so limp of late as we have so many good players but so few that will take control of the pitch and create a platform for the arsharvins and walcotts of the team to perform.
Yes oxo was outstanding but dont be fooled for one second about the importance of lansburys attitude when he came on, like i said he changed the momentum and earned the other players the right to play even he didnt play that well himself, its a priceless and undervalued quality that arsenal could so do with in the squad right now, and only a select few like gerrard and essien pocess. I sore this in lansbury the first time i watched him what the hell is wenger playing at?

Unfortunately there are no strikers in the Arsenal team who really compliment Chamberlains style of play. RVP might be great but he doesnt really convert many crosses into goals, and there isnt really any other top class strikers at Arsenal who does.

chamberlain is way better than walcott. please mr wenger play chamberlain on one wing with chamakh in strikeforce with van persie behind him. lets change the style of play to suit chamakh as well coz van persie is not a striker in the EPL. this league suits chamakh

i think you misunderstand the issue.zidane said that “you know a good player when he is not on the pitch”(he was talking about makelele prior to his departure to chelsea. lansbury is good and so is oxo what you guys are trying to compare are two players with differing roles on the pitch, although it would be shame to lose lansbury(remember fabrice muamba, lassana diara) as for verminator his tweet said he would resume training in four weeks.as for our medical staff the less said the better coz even capello is miffed about the loss of wilshire
