Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Wants A Start Against Spurs
Two starts, two goals and all in the space of a week. Not bad for a up and coming youngster is it. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is certainly making an impression at the Emirates and after last nights game the England Under-21 international wants a start against Spurs now at the weekend.
Who can blame him. Perhaps he is our lucky charm. After all when the Ox scores Arsenal win! Speaking after the game last night Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said, “My dad was was here and I’m sure he will be happy with that. I’m definitely hoping to play Spurs this weekend. If I’m not aspiring to be in the squad then there is something wrong.”
There certainly is something wrong if any player is not aspiring to be in the squad. If you are good enough it doesn’t matter how old you are surely.
Oxlade-Chamberlain went on to say, “It is a hard squad to get into because we have some top-quality players in there and I have to keep working hard. It is always nice to score your first goal in the Champions League, but the main thing was getting three points.”
Too right Alex the three points last night were most welcome. Who would have thought that after two Champions League games we would be in a better position than both Manchester clubs. It is early days in both the career of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and this seasons Champions League, but don’t you just love it?
Personally I would play him on Sunday because youngsters like Oxlade-Chamberlain do not fear failure, not that my opinion counts for much.

To be honest, I am surprised he is already getting first team football at Arsenal, he has exceeded all expectations so far! Unless Walcott is fit in time, why not let AOC start on the right?
Also, what has happened to Miayichi and Park? Is Wenger purposely saving them for later, or have they just not impressed enough in training to be given gametime? I can’t wait to see them play!

Ox should and will start against spurs, he showed he can finish and has the savvy to make runs off the ball. He ha earned a go, ryo is out of fitness but park is a mystery to me. I’d love to see him get a chance even though mc29 wasn’t all that bad. Regardless, let’s whip the shit out of spurs this weekend. Gunners til death

Ideally, I would say start with Chamberlain….in the second half Sub him with Walcott at WHL ! This will create pressure on Walcott and make him realise that he cannot take his place in team for granted….which seemed the case with his horrible finishing in the game against Bolton and also in the games in the past couple of weeks ! PARK should get chance ahead of Chamakh now…..he seems to play with his head only…. It is to be reminded that as of now Park only has couple of seasons which he can give to Arsenal(until something dramatic happens and not goes for military services in his country). Alex Song did much better at CB position than JD and some of our other CB’s !
Again saying that change of formation is needed…..get back to 4-4-2 !!! Get some attacking intent in the game !
All over a good game for Gunners !!! Gunners forever !

i don’t think we need hazard anymore i mean arshavin is finding form, gervinho & walcott r doing well, park n miyachi r good but haven’t even played n even chamakh’s finding form n RVP hasn’t been injured 4 6 whole months n doesn’t look like he will anytime soon n despite arsenal having a stack of players injured (verma, wilshere, koscielny, gervinho, walcott, djorou, miquel, djorou, squillaci) we r still winning so when these guys come back these can only get better but i january we should replace squillaci n djorou with cahill, verthongen n 1 more box 2 box midfielder will do p.s. OX deserves a chance arsene so give him 1

woooooooooooow….. i love the game yesterday. very very wise selection of team. i have no complaints. v did really great. only thing is execution.. may b final touch to the product. for me non of the goal keepers or teams can saved that goal olympicas scored. Alex song was Spot onn. Oxlander was amazing. but Santos was awesom. wenger good signings.. team is coming to gahter. v missing only wilshare. but i wanna see miatchi and park on the field. chamakh unexpected performance.. weldone arsenal. proud of all f u..

No question the lad has the football ability and the will to win and, if the defence had been sorted out ,I woudn`t question his right to start against Spurs but ,from what I read, he doesn`t fall back and help out in defence. Maybe Walcott has the edge on him here. Nevertheless he`s an unknown quantity and has no fear, I`d play him.

Oxlade Chamberlain just might do a job if started on sunday, and if he does and keeps on playing like this than wenger should stick with him on the right throughout the season. he is young and he should be fit enough to start loads of games, i have a feeling we just might see Theo in the front alongside V.Persie in the next couple of months and if that was the case imagine what could happen against whom ever we play…. i reckon it would be great to have a line up of

Fellow gooners, while this is undoubtedly a reassuring result, do not become disallussioned with reality. Olympiacos, shrewsbury and Bolton are not tottenham so do not expect oxlade chamberlain to be able to have the same impact. We will have some players back at the weekend, and whilst acknowledging the fantastic performance of our youngsters, we will need to play our strongest team, with full energy.

Am really impressed that OX started. I definitely agree that those other new stars like Park, Miyachi, Benayoun, Santos get chances more often so they don’t forget they are part of the team. It is up to management at arsent to blend them into the system Am so concerned about Park & Miyachi…. It’s unbelievable that they rarely used to date. Wneger, Pat, please do something!!!!

It is a pity we have no post related to an actual game where we can all give our views.
Chamberlain was excellent especially if you take into consideration the fact that most of the midfield where well below average.

Spurs Fan, please take a moment to look at our injury list before insulting our selection of players. You say we threw oxlade-chamberlain in due to an act o desperation, but did it cross your mind that our two first wingers were injured? Walcott and Gervinho did not play, neither did koscielny, benayoun, wilshere, diaby, vermaelen, djourou. due to the vast injury list, we had to place our faith in youth players like ox, frimpong and squad players like rosicky. i would love to see how spurs would go without modric, bale and parker.

last time wenger tried with youngsters, he got talent, but he didn’t buy gunners… look now, chamberlain, even goes to reserve games, chose us over united, van persie ( http://www.arsenal-mania.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=123422&p=28752001 ) scroll down and see the picture, cesc now and as a kid, and rvp now and as a kid, huge difference, frimpong huge gunner, mertesacker said in 2004 that he dreams of playing for the gunners, lansbury, wilshere, gibbs all grew up looking up to arsenal stars and became top gunners, gervinho also a gunner, joined before anyone else arrived… nasri left cos there were little new players (the as’ only went for the money, but ok)… coquelin looks 5-7 years ahead of his age in maturity, looks a calm level headed boy, also a gunner, than wojciech really loyal, see him as #1 for many years to come… that’s 11 gunners for you, and even if the new spanish boys decide to follow their dream, we still have a good basis so that our team doesn’t collapse… also some players that wouldn’t just leave: vermaelen, koscielny, song, sagna,… i’m not to sure about theo as he is a massive lpool fan, but he has been nothing but loyal till now, so i trust him… In Wenger we trust!!!

@ Red DB10 Lmao. Well said. We had a tough game yesterday and we did well to win. I don’t think many sides would have won yesterday. The Ox had streaks of brilliance, would definately play him Sunday. Frimpong was a monster and players like that deserve first team, not these brasses and has beens. Song did extremely well in defense and was solid as usual. To be honest I would play him there again on Sunday as he looked more composed and steady than Kossie. Keep Frimpong in MF. Sagna was probably man of the match what a sterling job he did. I would play Park up front, and Miyachi/Arshavin down the left. Arteta has been great but we do sorely miss Wilshere. I don’t think Ramsey is quite cut out for the job ahead. I would play Santos too, he looks quite solid.

Gallas and Adebayor are absolute professionals and deserve more respect form your fans for the loyal service they gave you. I will be attending White Hart Lane on Sunday and I will be very upset if I hear foul abusive chants at Gallas or Adebayor. They work hard and deserve to be respected. Bale is a world class player and he will give Sagna a torrid time on sunday.
Also I am not scared to admit that I dislike Arsenal. An Arsenal defeat is like a Spurs win to me and a lot of us fans. Anyways I cannot wait for the bragging rights to start come post sunday!!!!!

Hey also you lot forget that us Spurs fans have suffered greatly in the past. Now that expectation at Spurs is very high and we have a team and squad capable of challenging for the title, we are all very confident and are loving every minute. I have waited so long for spurs to have this kind of success and surpass Arsenal. We deserve it and it is time for Arsenal to spend some time in our shadows. If gervinho is really out 4 sunday, I say play park on his place, he can really cross. I still think we need to buy hazard, Montolivo, and a big prolific striker on jan. My ideal january market wud b: sell, Squillaci, djouro, diaby, and arshavin n some litle kid like hoyte, and bring in taarabat, hazard, montolivo, cahil and andre ayew. but that’s just me

Well done to Alex he really showed what he can do but please people lets not rush him that has always been our problem we rush youngsters into the first team with expectation of performing well every game and winning. Remember Walcott??
In terms of the game we grinded a result with a weaker squad so I am happy. The champions league is getting harder for English teams then before
Mertesacker is a darkhorse, he always looks like he isn’t doing anything but then gets in perfect tackles and does what many players don’t do(Boot it)
Song and Chamberlain were the best in that game and I hope Arsenal keep this winning streak going.
