All Premiership clubs to get £50m+ TV rights windfall!
It has been revealed this morning that Arsenal, as well as the other nineteen Premiership clubs are going to share in a £1 billion TV rights package currently being negotiated by Richard Scudamore.
A report in the WorldFootballInsider said this morning. English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore is close to announcing a 1 billion pound ($1.6bn) for global TV rights to screen league matches, according to The Sun newspaper. Under the deal, the 20 EPL clubs each stand to get 50 million pounds. Negotiations are still to be completed for major markets such as China and Russia. The new deal marks a significant increase on the current £645m contract which runs out at the end of the season.
Well that’s good news for the Arsenal shareholders because they will all get a nice little boost to their earnings, but you can bet your life that Wenger won’t be buying anyone! (Oh why am I such a pessimist!)

Wenger will buy and he’ll buy smart. His last 2 proper signings cost around £25m for 2 players.
Is it really worth paying £7m for a player that is out of contract at the end of the season and hasn’t really been that great in the current one (Chamakh).
Is it worth going for a player for £13m that still hasn’t proven his worth yet (Remy).
To be fair looking at the performance this season of a lot of the players we have been linked with (and linked with in the transfer window) makes sense. The fans up in the air Cana went to Sunderland were silenced etcetc.
I understand we need to buy but Wenger has proven he’s willing to splash the cash if he genuinely thinks it will add to the squad. He’ll be lining up his signings for the summer already.
i assume it wont be here’s 50 mill knock your self out, more 50 mill over the next 5-6 seasons or however long the contract is for. a pleasent bonus but don’t expect ronaldo or messi to be running out in arsenal colours too soon
Well that would be a good chunk off the mortgage for the Emerites. Imagine if we pay it off early and can call it Ashburton Grove again. Look guys, I am certain that we only need a couple of players and we will be where we want to be. Chamakh on a free. Yaya-Toure for about 12m Tusci for about 12m and a good keeper that is willing to not start every game. Then promote szczesny to first team keeper and Gibbs to first team left back. This will be the team with no weakness that will challenge for all trophies.
50 million extra and lets not kid ourselves we need another 50million if wer going to make our squad good enough.our starting 11 isnt bad its wat comes after that!!
