Are Arsenal Preparing To Offer Spurs £16million For Dutchman?
I know that some of you are bored with all the speculation about transfers and who is coming to Arsenal in January and who isn’t, but the latest rumour is sure to make you sit up and take notice.
There are reports in today’s papers, and online, suggesting that Rafael van der Vaart could be a target for Arsenal. Yes that’s right the very same Rafael van der Vaart that plays for Spurs.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has changed things around at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor, and there have been rumblings that van der Vaart is not happy about things, though he did start on Saturday and scored his sides opening goal.
Putting rivalry aside for a moment you can understand why van der Vaart is unhappy. Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League and coupled with the ongoing situation surrounding the Luka Modric on off transfer to Chelsea and the lack of other big name signings van der Vaart’s unhappiness is clear for all to see.
According to which report you read the Dutchman could be available for £12million, but some reports say £16million would be needed to prize him away. It is not just Arsenal monitoring the situation as AC Milan and Juventus have also expressed an interest.
We all know the need for quality players at Arsenal, but can you really see van der Vaart coming to Arsenal in January, or ever for that matter? No nor can I, but if he did, and that is a massive if, it might persuade a certain Dutch striker to sign a new contract!

VP and Rafa are great together in the Dutch national team. Rumours here are around 16m €. I think it would be a great gain for us. Next to Mikel he will do great.

Why would he come to Arsenal? He says he’s not happy there because certain big names were not signed. lol. What is different at AFC? I suppose we did qualify for CL, that might be a big enough carrot. Hazard would still be my first signing in Jan.

If he’s available for $12 million that’s a steal and Arsenal should sign him. I prefer him over Mata who was more costly but I doubt Spurs will let him go.

I’d jump for joy if we signed RVDV! He’s true quality and he’s a hungry player. I wish more of our boys had his grit and determination on the pitch. I know RVP tried to get Arsene to make a move for him when he was unsettled at Real Madrid and that would be a huge showing of intent to our players that are up to renew their contracts like RVP. Those two together at the Emirates would be deadly. His talent is wasted at Spuds. RVP needs to get in his ear and start dropping hints now.

The only thing that will bring VdV to the Gunners is RvP. They would compliment each other as they do in the Dutch team. It is up to Wenger to see this. RvP has already pleaded with Wenger to sign him

i think this january is crunch time coz if we leave it till next summer we could be out of the top 4, no cl football and several big players will be in the last year of there contracts!
i will always support the team and the kids that come through but if we dont invest heavily this january the next chance we get it could and probably will be to late.

Although this story probably is complete shit, I arsenal did go in for der varrt I would be excited.
He is exception in his midfield play and his finishing. But if arsenal want a Dutch midfielder to really please rvp and take arsenal to another level of quality and the top 4, bid for snjieder! I seriously doubt he’s happy at inter right now and if their CL struggles continue, he might be ready to leave in January. No denyin how lethal Wes and rvp are on international duty. Arsene, the way to get persie a new contract is by bringing in seriously skilled players even if they require a price tag of 25-30 mil. Spend some bloody cash to keep arsenal breathing at the top

I’d prefer Hazard over VDV simply for the fact that Hazard is younger and just as good, although Hazard will cost more. Of course, if we really sign VDV, I wouldn’t complain.

Not gonna happen. It’s obvious.
First thing I would do come the January transfer window would be to buy Hazard, buy Cahill (going cheap now he is running down on his contract, Bolton have the same problem we had with Nasri, they don’t want him to leave for free)and I would consider any offers for Arshavin, Rosicky, Djourou and Diaby. But obviously not be too keen to offload them, end up selling too cheaply, because they are decent players afterall. But if any of them were to leave, a replacement would be the first thing on my mind…

hazard costs much more (with less experience) .. VDV (OK for short term, a bit old) ; ARS needs skills and experienced.
it is better than signing some unknown player Brazilian Raffael, 4 million. and much much better off to offer a southham boy scout, costs > 10 million. Boy scouts have talent but not ready. ARS needs a spiritual leader

VdV is great but Hazard is best investment regarding his age and skills.
