Are Man City Planning Another Raid On Arsenal?
Now I know newspapers like to sell extra copies with their headlines, but the one in today’s Mail on Sunday takes a little bit of believing. It reads, “Man City planning £30m raid for disillusioned Arsenal skipper Van Persie.” Told you it would take some believing.
The report in the Mail on Sunday says that if contract talks break down between Arsenal and Van Persie Manchester City are planning a £30million swoop in January, knowing that the Dutchman’s contract rums out in 2013.
The report goes on to say that a source close to Van Persie says he is “deeply disillusioned” over the sale of team mates Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in the summer.
It appears as though the Mail are jumping are on the bandwagon that is the Daily Mirror and their reporter John Cross who constantly put Arsenal down at every opportunity it seems. Stories like this should be treated with the contempt that they deserve.
If, and it is a big if that Van Persie leaves Arsenal in the future I think he would end up in Europe somewhere, as far away from Man City as possible. A message to the Arsenal board, quash all these rumours that the newspapers print and offer our best player a new and improved contract please.

Yes the board & that retard AW must ensure to sign a long-term contract…
Otherwise- it’s very simple..He would leave..there’s no room for emotional foolery that gets demonstrated in this blog by some die-hard AW lickers/ there is every reason for RVP to get disillusioned with Arsenal board- he has been seeing what’s happening & he is a winner…he would not & should not be happy by finishing 3rd/4th/5th every season & basking in fckng fake glory….
And I really pity some losers here who everytime that a player leaves brands him as a traitor- wht the fck r they supposed to do? Get fermented with AW’s bogus policy of ” screwed-up youth & passing football ” … it’s stinking already…
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Loving the way rvp stands up for himself on the pitch . A real leader . He’ll never go to city . We can’t keep losing our captains . Was at the game yesterday and so impressed with his movement and first touch . Just one little criticism for rvp . Wanna see a free kick go in soon . You the man . Just gotta break the bank and tie him down for 5 years . Hope the board rate him as much as I do . In my eyes he has been our unofficoal captain for the last 2 years . Oh and congrats to cesc who has nt had any hamstring problems , coincedence .

This won’t happen. Even wenger and the board know this would be a step too far. They would face a big fan back lash. Man city are now top 4 side. This has to stop. Sign 2-3 quality players in Jan so RVP mind can rest at ease.

RVP is loyal, but 3 times the salary would be tempting for any player. (ie. Nasri). AFC needs to really take a look at what we pay our top players. Maybe incentive based pay? (if we make it to the CL finals, or, pay based upon position on the table at the end of the season?). in any other profession, people who are payed VERY well, are expected to produce results. If they do, they get bonuses or whatever. It still baffles me why this doesn’t seem to be the case for footballers. If we get to the top of the league, pay players more if we make it further in the CL …. Pay them more. If not, they need to perform better. Surely that is fair? I wonder if our defence was paid more for a clean sheet, maybe it would be stronger?
I don’t know. I’m just putting it out there. I just think if we dont do something to compete with the likes of the Mancunians, Chelsea, Liverpool, or the top Spanish sides, we will be fighting for scraps and battle for a place in the Europa League – and that would be wrong. Let me know if you agree or not.

Asif has a very good point, he always has. 6 seasons people and no trophies. One more trophiless season and it will give RVP more incentive to leave. Think about it from his point of view. A professional football career lasts 10 – 15 years tops. Most of them by the time they are 30 are over the hill. RVP is 28. I would know because i was born the same year and month as him. So he has 5 years max to win anything before he ends up in a second rate team and disappears off the radar. When that happens he can kiss his chances of winning anything decent goodbye. I’m sure that is not how he wants to remember his footballing career, playing his heart out for a club run by people who are too stingy to do what’s necessary to keep the club winning trophies. Loyalty means absolute squat, really. Fabregas said he was loyal to Arsenal. Look what happened.
I’m really sorry to put a dampener on things, but we must be realistic. If the board and whoever is responsible do not give Wenger the funding and go-ahead to buy the certain quality players we need, RVP will leave sooner or later. Put yourself in his shoes. You have been with a club for 7 years. Won one FA cup….in 7 years and things do not look like they will change. You have been offered a salasry 3 times what you are getting currently and a much better chance of winning trophies before your career comes to an end. It’s not a tough choice…end of the day we are all humans and playing football is their jobs. If a better job comes along, you will take it. Same applies here, loyalty (unless the club is actually winning trophies) means nothing.

Its just a bogues story from a stupid press that are more interestet in selling newspapers than telling the truth. Sure AFC needs to change their policy of board first, squad second, but that will come sooner or later.
Unfortunately the manager is an easier target than the board though the board is the Big Bad Wolf in the way they run the things. AW is just another employee who has to follow the decitions of the board. He has the task to compete with clubs that seemingly dont have a “salary-cap”, while he has strick restrictions on how big the combined salary for the whole squad can be. In todays football that task is next to impossible. No manager can win on a regular basis with these restrictions.
Sure we can replace him but who with?. Not many could do what he does with the limited resources he has. Just look at Cheatski last year; when Lampard went down Ancelotti didnt have an answer. It was not untill Lampard was back they started winning matches again.
No matter what, Gunner for life

Spot on dude!! Player are most remembered by trophies they won not which club they played. If you are great professional money fall number two chances to win trophy are number one. So gooners get real soon or later Wilshere also will ask for transfer if we dont win a things. Probably MU,Liver,Citeh are watching on Wilshere. Blame the Boards and Wenger.!!! Make money not win trophy slogan.

Arsene Wenger is treading a very fine line with the club and will continue to keep spending in line. You have to give him credit for that.
However, where I feel he has gone wrong is that he didnt buy premier league quality players as the fees are too high. But all could still be within the pay structure.
He has shown that with Arteta, Benayoun signings and from outside with Mertesacker that they can be found. He could have done this each year. Probably we would have retained Cesc and Nasri.
He only did it this time under pressure. So maybe it could be a little late to get RVP to stay but I think there is more to it than that.
RVP likes London, his family is settled and for someone like him, he likes the responsibility being a captain employs. He is the established talent and won’t just be a number. He is enjoying his football and it shows. He may not want to jeapordise that to be a number at another club.
Look at Dzeko and Aguero, 60 mins nothing happens, get subbed. That doesnt help a player. If they feel the moment they have a bad touch or bad pass or weak shot, they will be under pressure and it will adversely affect their game.
As for trophies, who knows if thats what is the ultimate driver. If it was, he would have left long ago.
I’m sure for Robin, it’s the icing on the cake.

People look too much into it..cesc was always gonna leave no matter who he played for and nasri is a Twat looking for the money it’s not wengers fault wen we people understand Wenger doesn’t decide our bank balance!! Clichy is shit and I’m glad his gone and in the past what player has gone on to prove himself..he let players go at the right time imo…yeah Wenger has made mistakes but the outright disrespecrlt and disregard for him is so poor

ppl should seriously think things through if they think RVP will leave us just like that, he’s one of those rare loyal players in football these days and am so damn proud he is the captain of Arsenal. He said it time and time again that he doesn’t play for the money and I can definitely trust him on that. Gooners4life

@ Deduke & some other clowns – whose job 24*7 is to lick AW
- Hope by now u demented souls have read the report that RVP has not agreed to renew his contract as of now – well I’m not hinting anything..this can mean different things…
And pls stop oaning & blaming players who had been exceptional for the club… till some time back, we were hoping against hope that Fabregas, Clichy, Nasri would all stay with us…the moment they left for greener pastures, some of these junkies have opned their nasty claws..come on- bug off… try to understand why they are wanting to leave …
@ Big Gun & Ash9 – good to see that sound supporters like you snub the daylight out of these idiots… thanks for your pragmatic approach…
The problem in thissite is – u always have to speak good about Arsene Wenger- otherwise u r an outcast…how shallow !!!
