Arsenal agree £4m fee for Eboue – We’ll miss you!

Posted on July 25, 2011 by admin

It is being reported today that Arsenal have agreed a £4m fee with the Turkish giants Galatasary for the 28 year-old defender Emmanuel Eboue, and he is leaving with Arsene Wenger’s blessing.

We all knew that Denilson and Bendtner were going to be out the door, but Eboue was thought to be staying at Arsenal for life! He has had his bad times when he was massively abused by the fans, but after getting over that bad period he has become a bit of a cult figure, despite never managing to hold down a permanent first team place.

When the manager was asked the other day about who would be leaving Arsenal this summer, Wenger said: “It’s not the number, it’s the quality. “How many will leave the club? I said from the start I will fight to keep everybody.

“Nicklas Bendtner might go and Emmanuel Eboue might go. They can talk to clubs, but the rest I will fight.”

Wenger probably knew that Eboue was leaving as he arranged in January to sign Carl Jenkinson from Charlton, but now the big question is: When will someone come in for Bendtner?

I will truely and honestly miss eboue .. like you said he has had bad times at arsenal but the one thing i always liked was his loyalty .. he would start the season knowing that he has a slim chance at beating Sagna at right back but he still fought without any complaints and Arsenal will truely miss our Joker in the pack!

Its kinda sad to see the loyalty we all scream about being rewarded in this manner. Eboue has been a top character and showed true love for the Arsenal. I wish he didn’t have to go but its obvious Wenger is done with him. That aside, why the hell are we stalling on Nasri and Fab??? In my opinion dem lot should be sold to the highest bidders outside the EPL. As much as I hate to say this, I don’t wanna ever see em in an Arsenal shirt ever again. Fab I can understand but Nasri! I mean cmon: Wenger bought him injured and when nobody believed in him and this is the thanks we get? Sell the bloody plonker. Saying he wants titles, win urself one at the Arsenal and prove ur world class and the best. Them other teams are only as good as their players you stupid fart.

your question is “when will someone come in for bendtner”?!?!
ummm RVP, walcott, gervinho, chamakh…we need more?
forget about a replacement for bendtner and then inventing anotehr blog about Lukaku; we need a left back to cover for gibbs.

and i really hope eboue doesnt leave as he is that cover for right and left back. otherwise we just have jenkinson as far as i can tell. im still doubtful eboue is going for this reason and also because he has been the most committed of clubman and is also great for team morale. he is a leader in this respect of his dedication.

and on the wing with gervinhio ryo coming in
and prbly another winger will come
he will be 3rd choise there

    he is not needed.

I’m truly amazed that people can praise Eboue for ‘grafting’ there is no evidence to support this. He was awful going forward and worse at the back. Yeah, he could go marauding up the right, lose the ball or dive pathetically but then he would make no effort to get back whatsoever. You would see him creeping back onto the screen as the danger was half cleared or the ball was being picked out the back of the net. Not the best player to pull on an Arsenal shirt, for me he was the very worst. Heaven knows what Galatasary are thinking, glad to finally see the back of this useless Ivorian. There’s no point keeping someone just because he is the joker in the pack, sign a couple of aces and I’ll be even more happy. Peace.

  44. seagoon says:

I was at Highbury for his debut as a sub. Positioning at RFB was not always great but at least in attack he was willing to run at the defence or take on a defender which is more than many of the current crop will do (are you reading this Theo). I admire him greatly for the strength to come back after being booed by his own fans (unless they were shouting Ebooooey). I won’t miss the ease of going to ground though, but to be fair he had improved in that area. And i hope he has learned from being duped by the oldest cheating trick in the book when the scousers manufactured a last second “penalty”. Good luck to you Manny. You have showed much greater loyalty than some other money grabbing players that have left or threatening to leave.

Some of you are fckng jokers… behaving like a clown as is Eboue…

Quite amazed to see that here we are discussing more of a player’s loyalty than his ability & performance for years.

Apart from some odd freakish good performance, Eboue has always been a bench-warmer…Never could get the first 11 as an automatic choice…. Ok, agreed that he has been loyal & often seen encouraging our players from sideline ( notable quality )… but hey pls stop there….

These players earn handsome money..they are supposed to perform on the pitch & not off the pitch & we must hail their perfromances on the ground…

Hope sense prevails in us…. Thank you Eboue… you had been good to Arsenal in every possible way, tried delivering your best & a fantastic character. THANK YOU for all that… it;s time to part ways…wish you glory…

    Time to move forward.. Period…

Can we pls see an end to the sordid saga of Fabregas & Nasri…

@Gunnerfan nd all haters-If only fab nd nasri have 20% of Eboues heart we could win lots of trophies in the cabinet cz its not about the talent bt the heart that loves the club too much that even though viewed untalented, being second choice and wasted in position he tried so hard to convince us fans, the players nd the coaches that even though he couldnt deliver what we expected from him,he delivered what we expected from nobody(especially after many trophy-less years) LOVE,JOY AND COMMITMENT and that’s why we mourn him so much that most of us now will always support Galatasary when playing against any other team apart from arsenal unlike the clubs that will sign fab nd nasri.
