Arsenal agree fee for Juan Mata, but face competition from Tottenham
Well would you believe it! According to reports everywhere, both Arsenal and Tottenham have agreed transfer fees with Valencia for their talented midfielder Juan Mata, and although the players father admitted that they were considering both offers, the player himself would prefer to move to the Emirates.
Mata and his representatives are said to be currently in London for talks, and if these reports prove to be true then Cesc Fabregas could be very quickly allowed to leave.
The Mail says that “Wenger has not been impressed with his captain’s sulky manner since returning”
from his holidays, and Fabregas has refused to train with the first team. So much for his never-ending hamstring injury then!
Mata is expected to cost around £17m, which is probably half of what Wenger expects to recoup through the sale of Fabregas.
If Tottenham manage to hijack the deal (though unlikely) that would then allow Harry Redknapp to get rid of that other sulk, Luka Modric, if Chelsea still want him……

i am not worried for a second that mata would go to tottenham for the following reasons
1. arsenal are always in the champions league the scum aren’t
2. Arsene wenger has much more pull that sloppy faced arry!
3. mata would not have to fight for a place in arsenal team but at spurs who is he gonna replac bale vdv modric.
4. finally arsenal are the bigger club and he could be are main guy.
Al we need now is some investment in the cb and we are back where we need to be title contenders!
As for the ”fans” saying arsenal wont make it into the top four liverpool have spent close to 70 million on players and the only good ones are adam and suerez! tottenham wont make top 4 because they don’t score enough.

Arsenal’s progress is ones again commended. I think if valencia is ready to sell, arsenal should beat spurs to signing a player with such quality as MATA.
The player should be wise enough to know that when fabregas leaves-hopefully, he would be an auto first team player with a champions league guarantee spot too.

Why would he pick Tottenham over Arsenal? Arsenal are in the Champions League and Tottenham are not. Any established player would pick a Champions League club over a non CL club every time. Tottenham will need to wait for another fifty years to see Europe again.

if you look backward in history and look at the events that occur every transfer window .It has been frustrating as it is and it is increasingly becoming frustrating we have seen it with our eyes every time during every transfer window the journey so far is not different .Interestingly the pattern is the same if you notice presently the clubs intensity in anything but assuring .I feel something about arsenal right now am not rest asured that we can still deliver that first trophy .Even though right through may ,june andjuly the club has been linked up with player x,y and z with less than a few weeks to the kick off to the EPL theres no definite position about new sgnings .Mostly i have given up on wenger .Many times we have seen the cycle recycle all over again .Common sense tells me its impossible that our mad scientist proffessor wenger certainly would change .To me this season should be our defining moment we get that cheese but without the present board led by P DIDDY HILL WOOD bolstering the team and having the balls splash the cash gettint the cheeese might be more challenging than usual .I wonder how long its goin to be before we resolve the issue of getting a world class centre back ,cover for fabregas and a quality striker how could a club that became the fisrt to pay 100 000 pounds for {SOL CAMPBELL} a player in the EPL refuse to stump and splash the cash .How ever in the same absolute sameness our mad scientist has continued with a trundling youth policy that never seems to deliver a trophy dont you think it s high time he gives a rethink
