Arsenal and Man City fighting over Kwadwo Asamoah

Posted on July 10, 2010 by admin

Kwadwo Asamoah is a promising young Ghanaian international, and he impressed watchers at the World Cup, including Arsene Wenger. Now, according to reports in Ghana, both Arsenal and Man City have contacted the player’s manager regarding a possible transfer.

A “source” revealed this information in the Accra Mail in Ghana, but also said that both clubs would need to begin negotiations with Udinese, who will be loathe to lose of the star young players without a fight.

Just a few days ago, Asamoah’s agent Claudio Vagheggi said: “There is interest from a number of clubs. A move to the Premier League is a possibility for the player. But, he [Kwadwo Asamoah] has four years left on his contract with Udinese.

“There are two or three clubs from the Premier League interested in Asamoah. Manchester City and Arsenal are the two most important clubs. He is happy to play in the Premier League and I think he would do very well there.”

This young man certainly looks like the type of player that would interest Wenger, but surely if it comes down to a bidding war between Arsenal and Man City, surely there will be just one certain winner….

I’d love for them to buy annan. It’s seems like he’d be relatively inexpensive too, since he plays for rosenborg.

seriosuly, did anyone ever notice that man city try to get all the players that the top 4 teams in the premiership are looking for?

i just think they try to get players so other teams cant get them and asamoah will hardly get any play time and if asamaoh goes to man city, arsenal should get De Jong who is also a amazing DM!

does anyone agree with me on the first point??

I agree with Abdifatah. It’s important you buy players you need most, not just because someone is good. Yes Asamoah is good but we have so many in his position. Anthony Annan is what Arsenal and Wenger need to give Song’s position more depth. Sell Denielson or give him out on loan is possible, of course outside EPL.

    Qwertpop,

You are spot on with your judgement. Man City are using the Chelski Maureen blueprint, which was to buy up all players that would strengthen rivals and then bench them. It was a clear strategy to weaken opponents, they also created bidding wars to drive up prices of general player market to make it difficult and unsettle exsisting players at clubs (Gerrard, Cole, Essien, Wright -Phillips etc).

Chelsea analysed the top 4 teams weaknesses and prevented rival clubs from buying the best & second best players in that position. To go this depth made me sick as it shows a lack of coaching confidence and management ability. That is why I don’t respect Chelsea or Maureen. Mancini seems to be out of his depth and if reports are to believed, he lacks the charm of Jose. Buying all these players is going to backfire big time on Man City.
