Arsenal begin clearout with two loan deals

Arsenal Pair Sent Out On Loan by AH

Arsenal have today successfully negotiated terms with two teams which will see both Marouane Chamakh and Johan Djourou leave the club on respective short term loans.

Chamakh has joined fellow London club West Ham United and will be looking to provide support in the Hammers strike force as they look to push up the table. Whilst Djourou is off to Germany to play for Bundesliga side Hannover.

Both moves are good for Arsenal as it allows us to get some players off the wage bill and it enables us to start looking for signings to strengthen to our own team, however its important to realise that both deals do NOT include an option to buy and so that means that both players will be returning to North London in the summer.

Chamakh’s move hasn’t been announced by either club as of yet however it is expected in the coming hours once the paperwork is finalised in the coming hours. Djourou is a little further behind and talks have successfully taken place and the Swiss defender is set to travel to Germany for his medical later today. When asked about the move to Hannover, Djourou said; “I joined the club who wanted me the most”.

It was in the best interests of all parties that both players moved on in this transfer period and although I expect it to be the last we see of Chamakh in an Arsenal shirt, I think Djourou will return to the club in the summer and continue to push for a place on the team. Simply because I don’t think Wenger will want another quality centre back because we already have 3 and so I think he is simply loaning out Djourou to maintain his fitness because its clear that he isn’t going to intergrate this team at the moment. Djourou is a player who although doesn’t seem to have a big role at the club, he undoubtedly does because despite being 4th choice, he is professional, supportive and has a general love for Arsenal and so his spirit can lift the dressing room. But of course you shouldn’t just keep a player at the club because they can lift the dressing room, but don’t actually have the quality to play for Arsenal. We will just have to see what happens with these players come the summer but that’s my general feel of the situation.

At least we can say, we now have players off the books, off the wage bill and now two more spaces are available to be filled with new signings if we can get them.

Will you guys just calm down. Some of us here are acting like children. Arsenal gets linked with a lot of players every single day. Going by that logic, if we were to sign all the players we are linked to, will we not have signed fifty or more players? Relax. Wenger always tries to have option a, b, c to h. That is how you do it. We cannot sign klaas, demba ba, david villa, loriente, adrian lopez and edin dzeko. That will be six strikers that we have all been linked to. Expect us to sign one striker and one striker only. When that doesnt happen, then you can start throwing tantrums. The transfer window is one month long and this is day four. Clearing out the deadwood is all part of the transfer activity as well because you must first create space in your squad before you buy, and as you can see, the club is working fast to clear out the dead wood. We are not manchester city who just keep buying up everybody who is available.

Even with chamakh out the door we still have our top 4 attacking players and 4 back ups. our lead man is giroud and behind him play walcott cazorla podolski. the back up to those 3 is chamberlain rosicky arshavin whilst girouds back up is gervinho. most teams only have 2 players vieing for each position and that is what we have. i still dont expect another permanent signing unpess one of those 8 depart. in midfield we have wilshire-arteta and the back up quartet of diaby coquelin ramsey frimpong so i see no signings there. we havr our two right backs we have two left backs even if santos to leave as we have meade. only if miquel djourou and squillaci all leave will we sign a centre back. lets not forget that wenger also rates boateng hajrovic angha and monteiro.

Even the players Wenger does’nt want are like boomerangs.
The keep coming back.We are such hypocrites.
We dont want to spend big money but we want top dollar for our fringe players.
We can’t get rid because of greed and we wont buy because of greed.
They’ll be back and we will be back to square one.

Good luck to chamakh. Was a good striker when he started out for arsenal before wenger ruined him by leaving him to rot on the bench. He loved arsenal through and through and for that I hope he returns a better player

Opinions divided. What do you think? Thumb up 12 Thumb down 5

  14. Gundam says:

Clearly, we loan them because we can’t sell them with their current status in comparison to the wages we pay them, hence the loan and I think we still make up the rest of the money for the loan too.
