Arsenal chasing prolific Anderlecht striker?
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a move for the highly-rated Anderlecht hitman Matias Suarez in the upcoming January transfer window, according to InsideFootball today.
With strikers Marouane Chamakh Yao Gervinho set to leave for the African Cup of Nations come January, the Frenchman has conceded that the Gunners will be a little short of numbers in the attacking department and has his sights set on bringing a new striker to the Emirates.
The 62-year-old will also be aware that club captain Robin van Persie will not be able to play every game this season and has to have quality backup if the Gunners are to mount any sort of challenge for the title. Also, the Dutchman has had his fair share of injury problems in the past and has a fitness record that cannot be trusted, hence the need for quality backup.
Suarez is a versatile Argentine striker who can play on the left or right of a front three as well as through the middle, a typical Arsenal player if you’d ask me. He has been in exceptional form so far this season, scoring 14 goals in 25 matches including 7 in the Europa League which makes him the competition’s top scorer. His performances for the Belgian side have caught the eye of several top clubs, including Arsenal.
The 23-year-old is contracted with Anderlecht until 2013 and is valued at around £7 million (trust me, it’s a bargain). Despite his fine form, ‘Oreja’ is still relatively unknown and is available on the cheap. Sounds like a typical Wenger signing to me.

Would love to see him at the emarites, but will he be able to step it up from belguim league to the premiership? Would he be as prolific in the champions league as he is in the europa league? Another typical wenger signing..hopefully a rough diamond! GTID

Just hope he has learn’t his lesson from the summer and gets any transfer business done and dusted in the 1st week of the window. 1 or 2 quality signings could really help us tie up a top 4 finish and put us in a good starting position for next season.

Looks like a great target, and we have no Argentine players in the first team so will be good for shirt sales from a board point of view, the article doesn’t mention any Arsenal scouts at any of Anderlecht’s games not a good sign since Wenger relies heavily on his scouting teams to sign new players. Then depends on contract and wages etc, not to mention if Anderlecht want to sell their star man in the first place.

I would prefer Podolski instead of him becuase Podolski is a much more proven striker.+ he is from Germany meaning that he can get used to the english game quicker than Suarez.I hope Goetze(not hazard since he is not interested in joining Arsenal) & Podolski join Arsenal.Arshavin,Chamakh,Squallaci & Djourou should be sold that would get enough money to buy a good centre-back maybe Cahill even.

typical idiotic response from so called fans…..name a striker from another club, say he’s prolific goal scorer and you all go nuts saying “we must buy him”or” wenger go get him quick” what tosh…this is why we got chamakh because off idiots thinking 14 goals in 25 games in a belgium league,(thats no better then div2 over here)is a prolific scorer lol.
one more point thier be no decent striker for sale in january, why would any club sell thier best player in midseason? unless a club pays well over the odds(chelsea 50million for torres/liverpool 35million for carrol)for the player.
i would off like wenger gone for someone like anelka he be worth a 18month contract, shame he going off to the far east. and even the romour off henry coming back for a few months would be better then wasting 7million on a nother chamakh

omg how many players are we after???? these rumours just get worse and worse. were after every player that is doing well or hints he wants to leave his club. we all no arsene wont sign anyone in jan. even with the back 4 now down to the barest of bones. the strike force of just RVP, and a midfield that has so much dead wood around it im suprised we havent caught fire. come on AW a decent versatile defender is of utmost importance. so is a striker to convince RVP that we mean business. and for gods sake clear out the the guys who dont wanna play for us….. arshavin, bendtner, chamahk. oh was anyone else pissed off at walcots show of disgust at bein taken off against shitty??? he was the worst player on the park in what was the best game of the season by far.

I really like Suarez’s game. I think he can offer a lot of versatility to the squad. Would be a terrific bargain buy for Wenger. People saying all these bargain players would end up like Chamakh just shows pure ignorance. Typical fake google reading fans who’d rather read about football news than watch the game. Wenger is known for his smart spending. Look at our Invincibles team. How many bargain buys were there in that team with the exception of Bergkamp? Go figure you bunch of dropkicks!
Buying expensive players doesn’t guarantee they’ll work well with the team. I’d opt for a team that plays like a team over a team of superstars any day!
Wilifried Zaha will be a great buy. If you haven’t seen this guy play then you should pay close attention. He’s still raw, but man has he got some lightening pace and trickery to cause defenders nightmares. Definitely an impact player and highly entertaining to watch.

Arsenal is an soccer star research club. We identify talent for competitors. Last summer we spent only 26m of the 90m allocated. In January we are likely to spend less than 20m. We have already started getting undecided on decisions to sign Cahill instead of Vertongen. We have cheap alternatives such as Juan Vergas, Lucas Baglia, Jerferson Farfan in exchange for Arshavin, Solomon Kalou etc. We will most likely not sign any of them. The scouting will be more interesting than signing.Instead we will approach very expensive players with the least competitive bids. Wenger will be trying to console the unrealistic fans that he tried signing quality when he has no intentions of signing any of them. The final result is that he will, as targeted, have lost the quality potential signings and will have lost on the cheap alternatives. It is just our fate. I know you have been excited about the improving Arsenal but in my opinion Wenger should be fired. We are supporting a team where fans have ambition that is bigger than the Manager

Suarez is VERY good indeed (i would not call him relatively unknown, he is the Europa League’s top scorer), Anderlecht desperately need him, i doubt they will sell him for so little money.
