Arsenal close to signing Wayne Bridge?
Arsene Wenger has made it clear that a temporary signing of a left-back is an immediate priority for Arsenal before the Gunners play their next League game against Swansea, and it seems that he could be close to signing one, according to the Metro this evening.
There are three top-class left-backs on the market right now, but as both Taye Taiwo and Aly Cissoko have both denied any contact with Arsene Wenger this week, that only leaves Wayne Bridge as the most qualified target for Wenger.
It has been reported that the Man City manager Roberto Mancini thinks that Bridge is set to leave the Etihad in the next few days, and the only rumoured destination so far has been Arsenal, so the Metro has put two and two together and think that a deal is now imminent.
Mancini said: “We need to sell three or four players and with Carlos we could close a deal with a club in the next three or four days, and also possibly Wayne Bridge. Then maybe we can do something.”
Could Wenger really have come to an agreement with Man City over Bridge, especially about how to cover his 90,000 a week wages? And if so, is it going to be just a short loan or a permanent signing?

ignassi miguel would be a better option than to take bridge, he isnt match fit, it just dosent make sense. nothing suprises me anymore though. some of the decision making of late has been crazy. cant wait for sagna and wilshere to get back….

I like Cissoko, he is a fantastic player even better than Santos..get him Wenger if you can. Alternatively go back for L. Baines.
In any case, I agree with you guys, Bridge is not good enough and we should not help Man City after what they have done us in the last three years. Taiwo himselg concedes too many freekicks and penalties, he is not even a second choice at Milan..they have Zambarotta and Antonini ahead of him.

Wenger needs to hold on to arshavin for a little while or at least till henry leaves. I am hoping Henry can pull off a miracle and inspire/bring andrei back into form, furthermore strengthening our squad even more. I miss the old arshavin.

Aly Cissohko and Taiwo would both be cup tied for CL though I believe so it’s unlikely that Wenger will buy any of them. I’m totally supportive of Wenger’s decisions to bring in cover even though i think Bridge is beyond his best years. If it’s a temporary solution than so be it. I’m glad we’re only a few weeks away from getting some of our defenders back to full fitness. This might lead Wenger not to buy any defensive players at all which is a sad reality we have to consider.

We have been linked to L Baines, Taye Taiwo, Vertonghen and Aly Cissoko in the summer of 2011 or in previous transfer windows…all who I think would be of benefit to us, not just for the short term but long term. We need to stop buying useless crap or patching up problems with short term solutions but we need to add good players who will add real quality to the squad. So please don’t go for WB this window!!!

anyway, rumours from spain saying that pedro bothelo has left rayo vallacano and returned to arsenal. maybe arsene will try to get him visa this time as he’s been in spain for over 4 years now.
wellington silva as well won’t go back to levante and will report back to london.
anyway, i hope its true i prefer botelho as our 3 choice left back than 90 grand a week overrated, overpaid wayne bridge

arsene won’t buy any new defensive player this january.
vermaelen will be fit for man utd game before that we have leeds and swansea, coquelin can play then shortly after that gibbs will be back then santos in march. if botelho wins spanish passport now or in the summer will have 3 left backs. if anything happen he will bring in martin angha.

Bridge is a terrible solution.
Overpaid, out of form, out of shape, heart not in it for Man City, let alone Arsenal ….
I would rather see Arsenal lose playing our youngsters from reserves at left-back, than lose playing this doughnut.
Use all money Arsenal has to buy the likes of Gotze and Podolski.

John 3:16 playing football manager much? Arteta on the bench? He has been amazing. Coqueline was the reason we conceded the last goal at fulham, he should have been there alongside kos and merte. Not his fault really he is a midfielder playing defense. There’s only 2 players at all from City I’d have on the Arsenal and that’s David Silva and Kun Aguero and unless it’s on a permanent basis I don’t want anyone from moneybags city bringing their highly overpaid wages to Arsenal.
But here’s a lesson for Wenger…. City have depth and are to of the league and still looking to buy to enforce their squad. Granted they have seemingly unlimited $$$ to use but it’s the principal of the thing that matters. They want to win, recognize where they lack in their squad and go and get it.
