Arsenal Confirm Arrival of Santos

Posted on August 31, 2011 by admin

Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Brazilian left-back Santos from Fenerbache today. The 28-year-old international is the first of a couple of signings the Gunners are making hours before the end of the transfer period.

Speaking on Arsenal.com Wenger said: “Santos is a quality player, with the ability to both defend well and get forward and help with attacks. He has experience in the Champions League and for Brazil and has proven he can deliver at the highest level. We welcome Santos to the club and look forward to him having a big impact for us.”

Santos has played in 22 games for his country since his first cap in 2009 and is known for his creativity and ability to get forward.

Speaking to the official Arsenal website he said: “I am delighted to have signed for Arsenal. It was one of my dreams to play for a major European football club and I have accomplished this. I am very happy to be part of this team. All the Brazilians who came to this club spoke wonders about it and I am delighted to be part of the Arsenal family.”

Arsenal fans will be delighted that they have signed an experience left-back to replace Clichy. With Kieran Gibbs as back-up the left side of the defence has been sorted out for this season.

what is it with you arsenal supporters you are like kids going into a candy store, you get a few siginings it is like wow we are going to beat the world!! tell me would you go into a supermarket buy the cheapest tin of beans and think they are going to taste so good? or do you buy heinz? it is exactly the same we have lost fab, nasri, and clichy, and bought in with no disrespect a brazillian left back whos defensive duties are pretty poor not bad going forward but poor defending, even brazil and turkey supporters have said he is not that good, pat the german prob the best sigining but yetr again he has no pace in the prem he will get turned over week in and out, then chelsea reject if he was that good he would be in the chelsea squad, then arteta, he has not been the same since his serious injury 2 years ago, even everton supporters are saying we will not miss him, some of you supporters need to get realistic, it is not christmas this is to do with our beloved club, the board with the idiot garzidis and kroenke have sold our bets players to bring in players not even close to their quality, martin keown said on radio we will not finish top 10 and will not win any cups, we will be fighting relegation, we can sit and think yer wenger has spent, in theory he has spent badly the players bought will not add any quaity to our already depleted squad, and by christmas how many of you will be up in arms, it is ok to have christams presents after a while you get fed up it will be the same with these signings, they are poor, and does not help the kids we have, if these players wher so good how comes only arsenal where interested that is the question you need to ask, the board are trying to appease a fan revolt, and i dont think it is going to work ubnless the tossers gazidis, kroenke and the rest of the old farts f**k off, they have not attempted to replace the quality we had adn they sold to line their own pockets, there is a saying you pay for what we get, and so far it is s**t

I just hope these signings will add more quality to the team. Anything short of Champions League sport will be unacceptible.
I still have doubts if the trophy drought will end this season.
    Still a GUNNER.

  15. Malik says:

so trophy drought season number 7 n 9th without the league title sigh i really hope these signings benefit our youngsters tremendously, Arteta better teach wilshere n ramsey good, same with benayoun teaching miyachi, AOC, exc. bRTLEY N MIQUEL COULD LEARN A THING OR 2 from Per, santos can hopefully teach gibbs how 2 stay fit n be more solid, parker should be teaching frimpong n where is the old man 2 teach( although already World Class) szczensy

if we can hold on 2 CL then next season MAYBE we can win SOMETHING unless RVP decides his had enough, along with verma n were done we will be the new everton/(old)liverpool
sigh but still 4 some reason i will ALWAYS be a gunner
