Arsenal could lose Gervinho for some time with ankle problem
I know that lots of Arsenal fans will not be too upset with the news that the Ivorian winger ans striker, Gervinho, is injured, as his form has dropped dramatically recently. Arsenal are already groaning under the weight of injury problems, however, and Gervinho is the top scorer for the Gunners so far this season.
Arsenal got two great boosts yesterday with the return of Bacary Sagna and Jack Wilshere to the first team. Both players were better than we had any right to expect, and will take some pressure of Wenger’s shoulders. Walcott also made his return but then we lost Gervinho with an ankle injury and it seems it may be some time before he returns, according to Wenger.
“It’s an ankle problem, and how damaged the ankle is we will have to wait 24 hours to know more, but it doesn’t look good.”
Gervinho had been taking the pressure off Olivier Giroud in the central striking role but his form has dropped dramatically recently. Coincidentally or not, it has coincided with Arsenal;s loss of form. Gervinho was caught up in the rioting when he played for the Ivory Coast recently, could this have affected him?
Hopefully, his ankle will heal soon. It could work out well for Arsenal if so. Gervinho perhaps needed a few games off but if he had been dropped it may have knocked his confidence even further. Walcott can get some chances in the striker role along with Giroud and, hopefully, Gervinho can return soon to a team that is playing well and winning again.
If Walcott doesn’t get a start upfront now he never will,

this is a blessing in disguise. We need to play arshavin on the left wing and podolski up front. Poldi does not have the pace or directness to play as a LW and Arshavin seems to be the only winger in our squad capable of delivering a decent final product.

Podolski is utilised at LF, LB and even striker on some occasions for Germany. He is a sharper finisher than Walcott. We need pace on the wings to stretch the play and that’s what the speedster is good for. Stick to your strengths Theo, and that is running!

Gervinho is the only one on the team that can be completely stopped an beat the defender with his burst of speed on either side.. Goes in the middle or takes it to the end line. Yes he’s not the greatest finisher an he still lacks that final pass but he will learn playing along side pass masters like Arteta Cazorla and jack… You guys are quick to hate but wouldn’t even hold this mans jock strap if put on the field… I like him he confuses the defense by stabbing in or thinking he’s going to go on his right foot.. Work on his passing and he’s fucking class.. The one player I believe does not Ben deserve to be on our bench when everyone comes back is Ramsey.. some of the fans on this website are ridiculous, yesterday they were happy that gervinho had to be taken off on a stretcher. i agree with everyone that he is frustrating to watch but to be delighted to see one of our own players get injured and express your delight in this, is utter sick. some people seem to enjoy other people’s suffering.
we are all gunners, we are supposed to SUPPORT them through thick and thin. people boo gervinho and Ramsey when ever they play bad, i mean anyone with tiniest of sense would see that booing a player is not going to boost his confidence.
another thing is that the fans in the emirates don’t show their support for players that much and instead some of them are too busy jeering at our own players. playing at home is meant to be an advantage but when our players play at emirates there’s no support, they might as well play all of thier games away from home.

Some fans are unbelievable. For Wenger to give Theo a chance upfront he actually has to show a bit of ability on the wing, which he hasn’t. Everyone should know that Theo isn’t going to solve our striker problems.
You can hate this comment all you want, but I was the first one on here to say Giroud wouldn’t score goals with the sort of sideways style Wenger has enjoyed boring us to tears with in the last couple of seasons, and I wasn’t wrong.

Gervinho never stops trying, that’s one thing I like about gervinho, u can never get a break with him, he’ll keep coming at u. Walcott won’t start coz he hasn’t signed the contract. I’m loked at uniteds performance today, their defence is all over the place. Funny how after all the criicism we now have th ebest defence in the league, although it can go up drastically next weekend.Arshavin Cazorla, wilshire and Walcott will find the gaps in their defence. Many people don’t know this but Arshavin can make those runs down the middle, he then slightly puts his arm up calling for the simple throughball, Ramsey didn’t see it yesterday or Arshavin was through on goal. Even when out of form, Arshavin makes those runs.
5 man midfield vs united should be

Cazorla AMF

Walcott RWF
Arteta DMF
Up front Giroud (because they will kill us on set pieces, he provides the extra cover).
Later on Podolski on for Arshavin

Ofcourse this is if we don’t get any early injuries.
Prior to the chelsea game Uniteds last 7 goals came from crosses/corners. We have to keep it tight on the side. Santos I don’t think will do that especially if Arshavin starts on the left.

Been saying this for months now. Apart from his inability to seal the deal and finish, his touch on the ball – like an elephant, Gevihno seems to have no awareness of any player around him. He does not see a good passing opportunity when there is one (especially one that could end up in a goal). This is either because he is incapable of dribbling the ball and look up, or because he simply is intent on Harding for goal, so will attempt to dribble past the defence and have a shot (which inevitably will miss 9 times out of ten …. Because he can’t finish!). I am not revelling in the fact Gervihno is injured – don’t think that’s fair on any player – but I hope now that he is not in the equation for selection, Giroud or Walcott will step up/in.

I hate when the fans talk about players losing confidence after being replaced because of poor performances. These guys are supposed to be professionals and they should know that the consequence of them performing badly is their place in the team. It pains to see fans off the Arsenal accepting mediocrity because we deserve better. I really hope that our club take back it’s place among the winning clubs in fooball because we are suffering. If you’re happy about anyone one’s injury let alone ur own player! You r never played football and bitter, jealous no good human bastard. Gervinho and others are injured it is time for Theo and co to step up, that is what I would say. I also criticize performances (Aaron Ramsey eta) but within reason, if players are played out of position to cover for injuries and tactical deficiencies! Then there is a chance that they will fail ( Johan Djourou, NBendther, Vela, Arshavin, Ramsey and now Podoski)! Glad to have Sagna, Wilshere and Kocielny back. To the more fun stuff.., Chelsea paid the price of playing Mata, Oscar, Hazard all great on the ball creative attacking talent! (Wait a minute where have I seen such teams)? Arsenal of last 8 years:). Beat almost all weaker teams but when it comes with experience players and mega managers RedNose! They will take their chances… Granted the refs work for Manure too.

I don’t really rate Gervinho, but I believe the Ivorian has improved a lot from last year. He deserves credit for this, however the fact remains that his game still needs polishing. To me, at 24 and a professional player, you should be polished already! Why do we have to teach a professional basic skills again? Having said this I still prefer Gervinho over Ramsey even though they play different positions. At least Gervinho creates, albeit uncanny-like, which is something the Welshman can’t do! What they do have in common is they can both lose the ball quicker than Ben Johnson on Bulgarian horse hormones!

I think when everyone is healthy we will have the best backline line and midfield bar attackline.
Chelsea, City, Utd, Barca, Madrid play with more than one creative midfielder. The guy we really miss is Rosicky. he runs, sliding tackles, dribbles, vision and through balls are missing. His ability to be inventive and take risk are what we need. Wilshere is needed also as a box to box role while drifting Santi to the left.
Assuming all is fit, Our best squd will be

We have balance in the defense, defensive midfield and also have three creative guys and that can also play wide when the need be and can also cut inside and pass or shoot. I feel today’s game is changing and one that needs a lot of creativity which is why chelsea is succeding with the trio of mata, hazard and oscar. just like xavi, iniesta and cesc. and also silva, nasri and aquero for city….
we will be very lethal with this formation….So when ever necessary we can deploy natural wide men like podolski, gervinho, theo, OX, Gnabry, Arshavin to change formation…if you look at it more closely we have more depth than chelsea and man UTD….

I don’t care about Gervinho,but to say that we want Ramsey to get injured is nonsense,the boy is one of our most promising youngsters,agreed that he has had a bad season but that does not mean that he is shit like Gervinho.But,on current form he must not be picked to play in the starting 11,and that should be it.There is no need to discard Ramsey totally.

It’s wrong to label Gervinho haters as racists,we all know that Gervinho won’t make it,if he was consistent,could stop being stupid and try fancy dribbling which he hardly ever manages to beat anyone with,and not miss those silly chances like he did against shitty,then I would be the first to have him in my team,but he can’t change and that will prevent him from being a regular in first team.I can’t believe we are always walking on such a thin line when it comes to racism–and I am not black and white.

By the our TSGTEL was in action for Juve yesterday,got full 102 minutes of 1st team football,but Italian football always makes me wonder that there is a fixing lurking around,Catania’s legitimate goal was disallowed for offside and Juve’s offside goal,stood,and guess who was offside worlds best striker Niclas Bendtner.Referee kept showing yellow cards for almost any foul to catania players and they were depleted to 10 men.The result was quite sick because,and a shame for football.I really don’t think Italy has sorted out this dirty fixing thing.

@SlengTeng We will be selling Walcott in January,thats why he is not starting,we will probably replace him with an unknown 18 year old kid that plays in npower championship and Wenger will say”this kid has got massive potential,we dont need any replacement for Walcott,we have oxlade,eisfield,Gnabry,everyone will get their chances”.

Yeah I’d go Arshavin too. I bought his shirt 2 years ago. I love the Russian because he’s always EFFECTIVE regadless of how much time he has on the pitch. Cazorla looks tired and i’d love to see Arshavin in the CAM role every once in a while. I know some fans criticise him for his lack of defence, but as Wenger said last season, Arshavin’s a player he uses as an impetus to initiate the attack. Not too many other guys can give delicate crosses the way Arshavin does. He gave Henry a quality assist between two defenders to win the game last season and did the same thing finding Giroud in the air which led to the Arteta goal.
Now that Jack is back, I hope Ramsey no longer starts. I think if Ox and Walcott were 100%, Ramsey wouldn’t have started at RF. If the 2 are fully fit and Wenger still opts to go with Ramsey on the RF, I’d lose so much respect for Wenger’s tactical approach. It’s really simple, bench Ramsey and Arsenal will keep possession longer! Last time I checked, wingers need to be fast and have the ability to take their man one on one. How often does Rasmey do this? As often as he has good games, which is virtually never!

Gervinho can be replace by Arshavin or Theo. Can be start with Theo and the late time for Arshavin. Arshavin has not good physical, but he is very intelligent and can be create the change

not a great thing for a player to get injured… but i dont think he has done anything special all season anyway. i hope wenger rest padolski this week or cazorla… and puts on arshavin… they are both tired and jaded… wenger never learns until his players get injured

I have been watching AFC for 50 odd years now, and feel that the deal between fans and the board is not an honest one. By all means buy budget players and turn them into better ones, but do not keep pretending that we can compete for 4 trophies (never mind one) and have any real chance. To win anything we need to get rid of the permanently injured dead wood, buy tough guys who are fit to play 40 games a season, buy a proper goalie, centre half and centre forward, and have an English captain whose heart is really in the club. When the team is announced at the Emirates the crowd laugh at half of the names – enough said.
