Arsenal didn’t want to draw AC Milan, but we can beat them again!
It was just in the 2007/2008 season when Theo Walcott ran the whole length of the field in a quick counter attack from Arsenal before squaring the ball to Emmanuel Adebayor to put the ball in the net for 2-0 Arsenal. Entering the match at San Siro 0-0 on aggregate, a lot of pressure was on Arsenal to come away with a result and they delivered on a night filled with anxiety.
This time, Arsenal face off against the Italian champions again. Coming off a Scudetto winning season, the red side of Milan are now in full of confidence. Thought to be the strongest opponent amongst the group runners up, Milan were the team Arsenal wanted to avoid most in the first round of the knockout stages but I guess that was just ‘karma’ for finishing top of the group by just a small margin.
Here is what Arsene Wenger said about the draw last night: “It is a difficult draw but an exciting one,”
“And they could say exactly the same thing I suppose. It is a 50:50.
“So let’s make sure we continue to improve until February. Then we can take our chance with full power and belief.”
“Yes, we have good memories at San Siro,” he concluded. “As I say it is an interesting draw.”
Chances are that the team that progresses in this tie would definitely fully deserve it. Thinking positively, Arsenal have beaten Milan before. Besides, the first leg is played away from home first so a lot of pressure would be put on Milan to get a result in the first leg. If they don’t, we are more certain of going through then.
I believe AC Milan probably wanted to avoid us as well. It will be an extremely tough battle to the end but I believe with the newfound strength and depth in the squad, Arsenal will come out on top eventually…..

We have a much stronger and bonded squad now compared to the last time ww beat them at San Euro. Now, instead of Adebayor and eboue, we have RVP, walcott and gervinho. Instead of Almunia, we have Szczesny. instead of Gallas, we have vermaelen. Instead of Diaby, Fabregas, Flamini and hleb, we have arteta, song and Ramsey. Nothing is impossible ! Including beating AC milan!

AC Milan? Well so be it. We shouldn’t be intimidated. It should be the other way around! History believes so!
I say bring it on! Better to knock out a good team now than later. If we can beat them over 2 legs, it would do Arsenal wonders in terms of confidence and belief.
Let’s ZERO San Siro and cheer our Arsenal heroes!

I said so – I felt it in my bones! Anyway, not to worry. I see Walcott starring in this encounter. I tip Arsenal to edge out Milan in a low-scoring encounter (yeah, I feel this in my bones as well!)

The draw favours us in all ways. With the style ,we can over power them, with pace, walcott and gervinho can do it perfectly, in midfield battle, song is available to stabilize it and hopefully wilshere would be available, history favours us. At the defence line , all of them should be back. Why fear, go gunners go go go to teach how to play football.

even sagna and wilshere will be back for the clash.other than santos,all the players hopefully should be available.one that could worry the defense seriously is ibrahimovich.and guess what ? going by wenger’s comments on thierry henry,i would reckon hes actually going to join the gunners on loan if the red bulls are ok with it………….

as for the podolski,wenger is the last manager who would have given a ‘yes’ reply.do you remember wenger got angry when mancini talked about nasri just before his move to city ??? thats exactly why he wouldnt talk about podolski or anybody else for that matter.if he did,then wenger feels GUILTY of unsettling another club’s player.its simple,wenger is too professional-like and well behaved to TALK about other players.as given in dailymail,if the scouts have actually gone to watch him,then why not ????? now assume that wilshere is actually fit by mid january.but if le prof is asked on wilshere’s return,he will probably say by end of jan or starting of feb.wenger is a perfectionist.even though the player would heve recovered(from a long-term injury),he wont get into the 1st team until hes got the match fitness by playing a string of reserve games or going on loan just like ramsey to cardiff ……get it ???

@Saton81 well your right ac milan did get a draw at nou camp and we couldn’t, ac milan got beat by barca at the san siro but we’ve drawn then won against barcelona in the last 2 champions leagues at home..Impossible is nothing, bring on Milan!!!! COYG

@saton81 don’t be a 50/50 gunner, we beat barcelona don’t you remember that? A 100 percent gunner would, and to say RVP is the only world class player in the team just adds to that. Arsenal will play better against milan than a “weaker” team which we may under-estimate, gunners love a challenge and we’ve done it before

Who’s afraid the only thing i got some beef over is we top our group and somehow draw Ac milan, that just means theirs 6 other teams i’d rather face from pot 1 (only napoli would be worse imo cause there stadium is electric)…but what kind of team have arsenal become if we fear the big teams, can’t wait for it…

“just ‘karma’ for finishing the top of the group by just a small margin”… You’ve got to be kidding me, right? AFC qualified in top spot with a game to spare, in a difficult group (more so than Man U and others!). Our champs league and domestic form has been exceptional, and it was not too long ago every so called ‘supporter’ was after Wenger’s head.
Why be worried? It’s always going to be a tough game, but hey this is the CHAMPIONS league, and that’s what our beloved Gunners are- CHAMPIONS!

People say Milan have improved since 2008 but so have we. At the San Siro we played diaby at left wing, eboue at right wing, allmunia in goal,senderos in defence, etc. if you look at or team now we are much better and also our players like sagna and Walcott have improved exponentially. I am quietly confident we will use our quick tempo, pace and athleticism to our advantage and knock Milan out. it well be tough but I think we have enough.

Funny comments, Arsenal fans thinking they will run over AC Milan. I think AC Milan will dominate at San Siro, strong defence with Thiago Silva and Nesta (or Mexes). If Pato starts, Arsenal will have problems! Second leg, we will come for a win but will settle for the draw if we have to. Zlatan to score twice again to silence the Emirates.
