Arsenal Failed With Striker Bid On Deadline Day
It is now nearly two weeks since the transfer window shut, but there are still stories and rumours flying around. Today there has been some interesting news regarding Arsenal and a failed bid for a Fiorentina striker.
Stefan Jovetic, 21 , is being compared to Roberto Baggio, not only in his play, but by the way he looks. Roberto Galbiati is Jovetic’s former coach and he has revealed that Arsenal made a last gasp bid to sign the Montenegrin forward.
Galbiati was talking to the TV channel Italia 7 and said, “It’s not only Chelsea who want Jovetic, but Arsenal also. Arsenal, on the last day of the summer transfer market, submitted a bid to Fiorentina but the club refused.”
It seems strange that Arsenal would make a move for someone that has just spent a whole season on the sidelines with injury, but with our record in the transfer market this summer nothing surprises me any more.

I think wenger wanted that one special signing to give us that little bit extra, and jovetic could have been it (although I’m sure hazard and goetze were preferred choices). It would have been a big risk, given the recent injury, but I do think this player is very talented, and probably would have been worth it.

point of correction stefan jovetic is not a striker .. he more of a trequartista playing behind the strikers ..hes more like ganso henrique whole thrives just the strikers and drops in to pockets of space to cause damage .. as regards deadline bid its all a farce we never went to bid for him . cos he wouldnt fit into our formation ..hes not your box to box midfielder like lampard neither is he your hard tackling midfielder and we have lots of those at arsenal

He’s more like Batistuta who was also at Fiorentina. Batistuta was a game killer. He’d pop up after being missing for most of the game and then kill your team with an impossible goal. Yes, a cross between Batistuta and Arshavin.

Hazard would be the ideal signing, but would be cup tied in the UEFA CL. Happy to hear J Campbell is doing well in France. Hope he fulfils his potential.

we have good strikers, the only thing i the pecking order, i think myachi, chamberlain and park can do better than Chamack.
