Arsenal fans expected to buy units on new £128m Emirates development
It has been announced today that Arsenal FC have just signed up with Barratt Homes to a new development of 375 houses right next door to the Emirates.
They will, of course, be luxury private houses and should generate £128m according to reports today. The Arsenal Director Ken Friar said this is “the last piece of the jigsaw in our new stadium project which has delivered huge regeneration to the Borough of Islington. 2,500 new homes and 2,500 new jobs have been created over the past six years.” (And quite a few million in profits!)
The development will comprise three residential towers with units ranging from studios to 1,000 sq ft penthouses priced at more than £500,000.
Alastair Baird from Barratt said that the buildings “will be situated literally yards from the stadium and we expect them to become as sought after by Gunners fans as the properties at Chelsea Village are by Chelsea supporters.”
Stan Kroenke and Alisha Usmanov will be very happy as they will be the main benificiaries as the price of Arsenal’s share prices are sure to go up again….

The profits CANNOT go to Kroenke and Usmanov. The only way that this could happen is if they directly financed the investment and then reaped the profit made. Or else they could sell their shares when the prices go up. This is perfectly legitimate and will have NO detrimental effect on the club. However, these two are unlikely scenarios and so the profits MUST go to Arsenal Trade LTD. Therefore the money will go into the club.
And I think that this is an excellent idea, giving fans a chance to live so much closer to the stadium, while also generating profit for the club like the Highbury apartments.

Lets see if wenger spends any money then shall we, and not money on 18 year old kids with so called potential. I find it amazing wenger spends money on so called potential, and wraps up transfers so fast wit little kids, yet finds it hard to spend anymoney on players that will improve the current sqaud, because the current so called potential players, that he wasted millions on while they were kids have flopped big time, now that they are 23,24 25+. Wenger go and spend some money on proven playeu bastard.

The profits are going into Arsenal’s funds, and can be used in the future WHENEVER THE CLUB CHOOSES TO. The view that “since we are not spending, all of our profits must be going into our owners’ pocket” is both cynical and naive. Not saying that you are, just saying that the OPINION is.

None of the property development are related to Arsenal FC. The club is just a part of a group. The PROPERTY development is a different part of the group to the FOOTBALL part. They have never been connected, The only money available to Arsenal Football Club is money generated by the football club. Money from no where else goes into the club, this includes the board members. Anything to do with property, and I mean ANYTHING, has no effect on the finances of Arsenal Football Club. The group it is a part of is called, ARSENAL HOLDINGS PLC.

martie…… Your criticism is ridiculous. Some of the young players with potential we have invested in include Fabregas, Nasri, Van Persie, Song, Clichy, Gibbs, Walcott, Djourou and Wilshere. These players are now worth lots and lots of money. Even the ones who do not quite make it are usually sold on for a good profit. Agreed we need to augment these players with some good signings but do not belittle the achievments of investing in potential when you can see the result with the players I have mentioned. Some of you should really think before posting silly comments.

Why wont Wenger petition the board to spend money on buying players like Radamel Falco. Time after time we spend so much on up and coming talent that no ones heard of and are usually crap and f-all on established people it makes me wanna scream sometimes

If we are to wipe clean the smell of last season off of us then the board needs to stop being so “self serving” and bring in some big name players

@topgunner’s,
thanx for the note,seems u have more details about it but do u think that we need to wait more.
this is my thinking,if presant is not good enough then for sure no future and also we all ve seen that spurs and city have better squard then us likely fevourte for 3rd and 4th place in 2 years.
so for me 6 years trophyless is enough evidence that we cannot move forword any more under Wenger with same policy that we have in our club.
we really need sign 3-4 players this summer or change manager.
