Arsenal favourites to sign young Icelandic winger
It seems that Arsenal are closing in on yet another gifted youngster with the news that the 17 year-old Icelandic prodigy Ingolfur Sigurdsson has impressed on a weeks trial at Arsenal.
Despite his age, Sigurdsson has already made three appearances for his Reykjavik team in Iceland, and is hotly tipped as a certain full international in the future.
It seems that he was offered trials by both Man Utd and Arsenal, but he immediately plumped to take him chances with the North London side. The speedy winger was given a run out with the U16 side this weekend and scored against Fulham. He was obviously pleased with being given the chance to impress: “The trial went very well, it was really nice to train with a great club like Arsenal,” he said.
“It was great to wear the Arsenal shirt and I’m very pleased that I had the opportunity to train and play for Arsenal for one week.”
“I don’t know if they will sign me, I played very well and I don’t think how I play is a problem. The problem is that I have a contract to my team in Iceland,”
I’m sure if he impressed Liam Brady enough, coming to an arrangement with Rekjavik won’t be a problem!
