Arsenal given hope over Podolski signing
Although Arsene Wenger has publicly declared that Arsenal are not in the market for the Cologne striker Lukas Podolski, the Arsenal rumour mill still suggests that he is making the prolific Koln striker his favoured option to replace Robin Van Persie next summer.
Podolski’s agent, Kon Schramm, has made it clear that he won’t be moving away from Germany until after the Euro2012 tournament next summer, but the player himself has also admitted that he is keen to prove himself in the Premiership in the future and with his contract entering the final year in June his chance could come to move to England next year.
Koln though are trying to convince Podolski to sign a contract extension, and the player and Schramm had an official meeting with Koln’s sports boss Volker Finke and managing director Claus Horstmann yesterday to discuss a new deal, but Podolski made it clear that he won’t consider talking about an extension until the summer.
Finke said after the meeting: “The exchange of the positions was important and good. I can understand that Luke wants to have time. We have our own interests, he has his interests.”
This effectively means that, like Robin Van Persie, the German side are likely to be forced to sell Podolski before next season, and if Arsenal can come up with a good enough package for the German international (and Champions League football of course) then the move can clearly still happen in the summer.

Get him higuian benzema or pato. Then we a creative midfielder a defender and a winger. My choices are either Vertongen or taiwo. Gotze Kala or erikson for mid. And lastly a winger because Walcott is way to inconsistent. My choice would be hazard. Would even consider selling Walcott and all of the other deadwood. This would allow us to rotate without fearing a loss

Sign Podolski, and if we can hold onto R-V-P, than arsenal will be amazing as these two strikers will dominate premier league with the help of Wilshere, Oxlade Chamberlain and TV5. God bless gunners

This to me is actually bad news because we need him NOW not 6 months time!
We need more depth in the strikers department to compete in the Champions League and ensure at least 4th spot in the league. Henry isn’t a long term solution and I doubt he’d get much playing time anyway.
We need renowned scorers signed up to Arsenal ASAP!!!!

u know how stingy our owners are. they simply refused to shell out 17m for both, phil jones & cahill, & so we lost jones to man utd & cahill is set to depart to chelsea. what makes you think that arsenal will launch a 20m bid for podolski?

Frankly, speaking I dont see wenger buying anyone maybe a couple of loan deals to patch up in defence.we would want to see some deadwood go but I forsee them @ the emirates by 1 feb.It is going to be a disappointing transfer period.;(

Too late too Little… same as Last summer… we are repeating it… by the means of our lessons early this season… we are not learning at all.. i know Mr. Gazidiz it is easier said than done… but you should be done with your transfers till Jan 10…. learn from Wolves …who took no time to snap up Frimpong!!…..

The problem with Arsenal is they don’t actually want to spend money. We need signings now but we are not prepared to fork out. Wenger will persist with what we have. There is no chance in hell we will get players like Podolski, Gotze, Vertonghen all in one swoop. We will be lucky to even get one of those. Makes me sad that other teams are buying because they have ambition to being the best, but Arsenal with all our glory ‘financial longevity’ do not.
Looks like Chelsea are signing Cahill too. I would rather prefer Vertonghen or Samba over him but still it irritates me that when they want a player, they go and get him. Where as with us it’s a frustrating story of urgently needing these players but nothing is done about it.

All the facts are covered in above comments. What does AW not understand about paying serious cash for quality players? We will continue to play attractive football but wont get the desired results due to the extra edge of excellent finishers, attacking, strong midfielders and no nonsence rock defenders. What a pity all 125 years of great history is slowly dwindling. Kroenke has stated he will give money to improve quality of squad to make us a force again, so where lies the problem? Please AW and Board, make serious bids for Podolski, Gotze, Samba/Vertonghen or M Villa, Granero, Hazard etc.

R.V.P will leave, just like many of our top players. The manager and the board are a JOKE!! We have become a selling club, a academy for the more AMBISIOUS clubs. Arsenal will not make the top four and that is when you see the real decline!! UNLESS the Russain takes over and him bringing back David Dain. We are all wasting our time in telling Wenger and the board to buy the players we all know this is not going to happen anymore. We will not win any trophies so this is up to the fans.
We should all go on strike stop buying the season tickets etc than they will understand how the fans feel.
I am afraid to say that RVP is definately leaving this is not Arsenal what we had before. The board and Wenger happy we stay in top 4 and no trophies.
We are loosing all good players and I don’t think that the board wants to spend any money bringing two three good players.

The chances of Poldolski coming to Arsenal in January are close to nil. Poldolski is concerned that leaving now, in the January window, could harm his chances of playing for the National Elf(German first eleven) would be decreased. It is also understood that Koln would ask around 20million Euro’s, to let him go now and Arsene would not be prepared to go there. What is more concerning is that should Arsenal not make the top four and qualify for the Champions League, what top player would want to come to us, when they know they will possibly be playing in the Euroleague. So, if we are to get some top players in, we must do it now, to ensure a top 4 finish. Nothing less will do if we are to progress and win the Premier League, next year and play in the Champions League.

Im fed up with the board, all they care about is profit, im hating to say this, but look at man united, they needed replacements, they got replacements, ashley young was a good buy, phil jones, fuck me we lost out big, same as smalling the season before. But the board need sorting out, we’ve got one of the richest owners in football, sitting on about 30% ownership of the club, while stan has the same image as the board, where he thinks we can win the league with £50, utterly ridiculous. Alisher Usmanov has tried and tried and tried again to get on the board and i can absolutely guarantee you that if he had full ownership, or atleast the majority of the owenership, we would not be in this position, he would’ve given wenger the funds to bring in, hazard, gotze, podolski, a top class left back, a top class centre back and probably 2 or 3 youngsters just to keep wenger happy, and im not being funny, but say we had hazard gotze taiwo/ pereira and cahil/samba/ or a big defender like chiellini, do you really think we’d be battling for the top 4, absolutely not, we’d have city and united in our back pocket and no one would be able to touch us!

Need to get rid of average players like: Rosicky Diaby Arshavin Chamakh Djorou and Squillaci.
Bring in: Vertonghen or Samba or a good and sold CB.
Bring in a real replacement for Fabregas, a player who has both playmaking abilities and goalscoring abilities: Gourcuff or Marvin Martin.
Bring a solid CDM like M´Vila and bring a prolific wigner and striker. Podolski and a poacher (no idea of who)
