Arsenal have now got champions knack of grinding wins says Jack

Arsenal have played some brilliant football this season, but it is not possible to do it in every game. It is lovely to watch the flowing style on show against Tottenham on Saturday, but I think we all agree that the most important thing was beating our north London rivals and getting into the next round of the FA cup.

Just like in the Premier League, the thing that really matters is taking all three points. In a long and difficult season, the teams that can find a way to do that, even when not at their best, are usually the ones who end up lifting the big trophy at the end of the season. Like Manchester United last time, who most agree were far from their best but somehow kept picking up the points.

Jack Wilshere believes that the Gunners have found that formula now. The English midfielder explained, in an Arsenal.com report, that this all started to happen in the latter stages of last season, when Arsenal were up against is after losing to Tottenham. We then won eight and drew two of the last 10 games and that momentum has carried on this season to put us right at the top of the Premier League.

Wilshere said, “Sometimes you can’t always play your best and you have to still win games.

“You’ve seen the likes of Man United and Chelsea do that in the past and we’re starting to do that now.

“Something clicked towards the end of last season, where we knew we had to get fourth, in games we weren’t playing well but still winning.

“You’re not going to play your best in every game. You look at Cardiff, in the first half we weren’t at our best and even in the second half we kept trying and trying and it looked like it wasn’t going to come. We tried until the end and we got a massive win.

“If we keep doing that then we’ll be in there.”

Four of those eight wins at the end of last season were by just a single goal, which highlights Jack’s point. You get the same points for a lucky or narrow win as you do for an absolute thumping after all. If Arsenal keep scraping wins and become champions at the end of the season, is anyone going to moan that we weren’t stylish enough?

Am I the only one who thinks Eisfeld wont make it as a gooner? We hear a lot of hype about Zelalem and Crowley but not him. I hope he does. He’s a good talent but I don’t think he will

speaking of buy, one question I found myself asking..well, myself:

Who would you rather have in arsenal and why: Reus or draxler? Probably wont/cant have them both, so if you were the one to choose…green reus, red draxler

      I wote reus

Opinions divided. What do you think? Thumb up 17 Thumb down 14

      1. AvWijk

Draxler would mean we would have a lot of CAM’s, Reus is a winger and can play CF, we need him more.

Draxler plays on the wing more often then not for Schalke. Honestly he is better than Reus and can also play up front and has in the past. Draxler, Draxler and Draxler again. Kid will be amazing

Spuds bought and they believe they are going to be champions of 4th!!!

Spuds spend £100m and look at their current plight..!

If we buy – it won’t guarantee.. It will guarantee cover and extra options and a new belief-

      NO guarantees in football..

Wenger always states this pessimistic fact.. ‘You can spend all the money in the world, but only 1 team can win the league’!

But like you , I believe we will struggle if we fail to strengthen..

I am extremely happy with our Defense (Sagna, Gibbs, Monreal, Vermaelen, Mertsacker, Koscielny (Flamini if necessary). Im extremely happy with midfield (Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky, Podolski, Cazorla, Ozil etc). But its vital to strengthen strikers, especially with Walcott out and sooner the better. We have some very winnable games coming up

You’re right, but a part of the reason they’re not performing is because they weren’t happy at those clubs so Not happy leads to o motivation, playing for yourself not the team, bad performances, bad performances leads to lack of confidence, lack of confidence leads to more bad performances, everyone calls your head cause you were expensive and not performing, which leads to more bad performances due pressure.

Basicly what I’m saying is, the players got it but they’re too sensitive to adept, Arsenal is a very friendly club and I see any player slot in just perfect and make friends right away.

I know people have to give the worst case scenarios but Wenger and the club are being slated for stating Theo’s World Cup is over when his injury could be repaired within 4 months depending on individuals..?

I’d still say he’s out but can you imagine if it were Rooney – the media would be claiming he ‘still could make it’ !! We’d be rubbing his knee, Uri Geller, mystic meg, Russell grant , dynamo etc would be involved hoping to get him fit..!
