Arsenal in Almunia talks with Osasuna?
There is a report this morning saying that Arsenal are still trying to find a Spanish club to take Manuel Almunia off their hands to make room for Mark Schwarzer in the squad.
The Goon Blog says this morning that Arsenal were in talks with the Spanish La Liga side Osasuna, but they have a stumbling block in the size of Almunia’s wage packet, which is said to be £50,000 a week. It seems that the only way to get past it is if Arsenal allow Almunia to leave on a virtual free transfer to give Osasuna more money to pay the 32 year-old’s wages.
Atletico Madrid were the first reported suitors, but are also believed to have dropped out due to Almunias wage expectations.
A compromise just has to be found soon as Almunia is not going to be happy to be left on the bench or in the reserves, and Arsenal can’t justify having five goalkeepers on the books fighting for one place.
Although Wojneich Szczesny is expected to become an Arsenal star in the future, he is not considered ready to play in the Premier League yet, and both Fabianski and Mannone both need to have their confidence restored before taking the Number One shirt on a regular basis.
So it looks like Schwarzer will have to come in (although Andrei Arshavin doesn’t think he will) or we may be left with Almunia and Fabianski as the first two choices again next season. Uh Oh!

I would realy rather Almunia in goal over Fabianski enough said. I am an Australian but Mark isn’t the answer to our problems.
I mean he has been consistent for Australia and Fulham but an impressive season for Fulham is very different to an impressive season for Arsenal.
get rid of him…AW must get either RICHARD KINGSON or ENYIMA coz they are quality keepers and very very cheap…i actually think MANNONE is better than FABIANSKI…we also need to SOL to stay at ARSENAL

Almunia should GO,let us buy a new keeper than mark,is not so good,i prefer GIVEN.

i hope the deal goes through for him, he has to go.fabianski shud be loaned out for a year in a competitive league(but who will take him is the question).mannone and scezsney should stay with the new goalie.have doubts over enyeama and kingson.they played well at thw world cup(of corse nuff scout will be watching) but looked ordinary at the afcon2010 and 2008.
