Arsenal left back Gibbs out of England squad with thigh problem
Most Arsenal fans will be relieved that Kieran Gibbs will not be joining the England squad this week, as long as he is ready to play for the Gunners when they return to Premier league action against Norwich at Carrow Road on October 20th. The 23-year old must be cursing his luck, however, because he was in with a real chance of playing after the Ashley Cole and Twitter affair.
Arsene Wenger announced on Saturday that Gibbs had a thigh injury just above the knee and the manager did not think he would be available to play against San Marino or Poland. It has been confirmed today by medical staff but there is no mention of the specific problem or of how long Gibbs will be out of action for.
Tweets from Arsenal staff suggest that the injury is not serious so keep your fingers crossed as Gibbs has been excellent so far this season. Gibbs’ place in the national squad has been taken by Chelsea youngster Ryan Bertrand. Andre Santos can cover for Gibbs in the Arsenal team but he is not as good defensively and the back four are becoming a great unit.
The next two league games for Arsenal are against Norwich and QPR but after that it is Manchester United so we need Gibbs back soon.

our young fullbacks just get better and better.i hope gibbs shakes off the injury soon.i just dont trust santos at the back

irrelevant here but if i was wenger i would act as if i wasnt buying a striker and see what giroud does from here on in till january then i would choose.
and i would also buy fellaini above anything else he would be a instant med to our deffences against spot kicks and goal scoring from corners etc.
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Thats the worry with Gibbs and playing for England, would love for him to be in roys team but would worry every game that the outcome would be injury.

@leo LOL. It couldn’t have hurt that much seeing he’s made of plastic (RvP).
@laurentkboi The only way we are going to win silverware is by playing our butts off each game. God ain’t gonna pick sides. But yes I hope Gibbs recovers quickly.
Gibbs has been instrumental, we need him to stay fit and healthy.

Good to see Sagna, Frimpong and Wilshere getting back to full fitness in the under 21′s this evening. Hopefully Szczesny, Gibbs and Diaby will all be fit for the Norwich game on October 20th. We’ve beaten Olympiakos and West Ham so far in October, now expecting to see wins against Norwich, QPR, Schalke and Reading in the rest of the month, which will leave us in a good position in all competitions before we visit Manchester United at the start of November. Can’t wait for that game!

no worries…theres Verm and Coquelin for that position…Arsenal players are very versatille….they have to be multi-tasking to keep their job…
It will be a tough game against RVP United….they have the referee…

Santos is far better than gibbs.. Santos is another per martesarcer case..they will evolve with ð pace of premiership if given more chance 2 sanitize.. Per as proven he’s technically & tactic ally brilliant .. Ð speed of ð game put him below par last season & he’s adjusted in quick succession..what amaze me about both of them is they are both efficient “ball readers”.. speed accuracy in “THINKING”.. There memory r hyper fast than there feets. Santos is not as fast as gibbs but fast in thinking 2 make decisive tackles(he reads opponents mind b4 tackling but sumtimes miscalculated, probably ð attacker is faster but he can improve on that if given more play time ) / shooting / passing & he’s very offensive ! He scores great goals.

hope the falcao rumor is true at AST meeting they believe arsenal can afford to spend big in jan ie 25m on atleast 2 players which includes their 6 figure wage as well 1.Arsenal could afford to buy two £25m players in the January transfer window, the AST says, even assuming that both were given six-figure weekly salaries.
2.Arsenal pay their top stars around five times the amount of low-end squad members, while “most top clubs” pay over ten times the amount – according to AST estimates.
3.The club’s income will burst through the £300m mark by 2014-15.
