Arsenal linked with January move for £12m South American winger
It will be interesting to see how much effect the African Cup of Nations has on the Premiership in January, but Arsenal are certain to lose Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh from their attacking options.
With this in mind, todays Metro reports that Arsenal intend to return to Fiorentina with a £12m bid for the Peruvian left-sided player Juan Manuel Vargas.
The report says that Wenger tried to buy Vargas during the summer, but Fiorentina refused to let him go and Arsenal instead went on to buy Andre Santos, who can play left-back or left-wing.
It seems that the Viola are now prepared to listen to offers for the 28 year-old after a few indifferent performances this season, and have let Arsenal know that Vargas is now on the market.
Although Gervinho will be away in January, surely it is more likely that Wenger will cover for him by using Ryo, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Park or Arshavin than try and bring in yet another midfielder to sit on the bench.
Perhaps the deciding factor will be the length of Arsenal’s ever-growing injury list at the time….

We’ve as many wingers as City has strikers. What we really need is a No. 10 who can boss the central midfield.

We dont need him…. We need a midfield maestro and a centre back and hope park will the CF we r looking for … and if few injuries …we will be back on the track and by the time Ryo and AOC Will be Experienced enough to Fill the void left by Gervinho …

I think we nid him if he is gud cos i don’t knw much abt him, lukn at gervinho’s performance lately i don’t think his is the type we nid in that position, we nid a faster left foot crosser that can distract our opponent’s defense,

seriously arsenal fans are getting shallow. anyway, we don’t need this guy. with the emergence of coquelin, m’vila deal looks more impossible what we really need right now is a creative midfielder maybe hazard and a top goalscorer we haven’t had one since thierry henri left and we haven’t won anything since. anything else is a good addition to the squad.
yes we need gervinho, he just arrived and needs time to settle and surely he’s gonna be great for us.

We don’t need him. What we need is a real play maker, a defender and maybe an out and out striker. Remember Arteka can also play on the wings.

I think ideal for Arsenal is to sell 2-3 player in January and I want to be Wenger for one minute, Scenhy-Sagna-matersacer-Vermalen-Santos- Song-Walcot-Hazard-Getze-Gervinjo-Van Percie. Arsenal will be play for premiersheap titule.
