Arsenal Linked with Two English Keepers
There are a couple of Arsenal transfer rumours around this morning relating to goalkeepers. It is taken as read that Manuel Almunia will be leaving the Emirates this summer when his contract expires, and with the Gunners other two senior keepers currently injured it would be no surprise if Wenger was in the market for backup.
The first rumour comes from CaughtOffside, who reckon that Shay Given is being considered again. The Man City keeper has been languishing in the reserves all season at the Eastlands and has many times said that he needs to move elsewhere if he wants to play. Would he be perfect as the new mentor to Wojciech Szczesny?
The second rumour concerns the ex-Man United keeper Ben Foster, who decided to leave Old Trafford after failing to dislodge Van Der Sar from the Number One position. Foster only moved to Birmingham last summer, but if the Blues lose their fight against relegation he will be looking to move on. At just 28 years-old he still has a long career ahead of him so I’m not sure if Wenger would want to disrupt Szczesny’s development by bringing in some real competition.

Both are good keepers but I’d stick with chezny from now on

we should have had this conversation 2 seasons ago when it was blinding obvious arsenal had substandard keepers, i dont care who arsenal sign now the damage has already been done

there was no good keeper when we were in need as wenger did not think that was important…we ve forgive n forget…we don’t want any goalkeeper…let’s not get mix up by wenger policy which is wrong players in our squard…at the moment we need gary cahill,vertoghen at defence…charli adams/j.barton will be really good additional in midfield. n’zogbia and lucas podaski upfront n winger as well.wenger must sell…rosicky,almunia,denilson,daiby,bendtner,eboue, squillaci and chamakh/@23….i don’t want to see wenger signing 1 keeper n transfer is over with few 2nd divission players…not any more.had enough.

FACT!!! Man city will not sell a solid keeper like Shay Given to their competitors i.e. Arsenal. Craig Bellamy’s possible move to other prem league teams and Tottenham was a prime example.
We have 5 keepers including Jens Lehmann now – we all know AW – do you think that Wenger’s priority will be to buy another Keeper? when we needed one at the start of this season!!!!!!

There are a list of a thousand keepers better than Almunia! My 1st choice keeper for Arsenal would be CSKA’s Akinfeev. I said it last summer and he is a top class keeper and if he was playing at a bigger club he woulg get the accolades he deserves. He wouldn’t be expensive and an ideal 1st choice keeper. Sczcezny can be number 2 and see if he can develop. But like his predicesors he has a mistake in him highlighted by the Koscielny carling cup final deafeat mix up. Or a catalogue of mistakes that Arsene refuses to sort out. I don’t give a crap who we sign next season as to be honest I am done caring. I have set my expectations lower whilst Gazidis and Wenger run the show. Cmon Red and white holdings (Usamonov) by the controlling stake and put all that sugar daddy cash in, get a new hungry manager in, remove all the operpaid deadwood, and but some actually winners who have talent! If carslberg did football management!
