Arsenal losing patience with Carlos Vela?

Posted on January 03, 2011 by admin

Carlos Vela’s Arsenal career will take a new twist after being allowed to leave on loan for the rest of the season by manager Arsene Wenger. Carlos, who arrived at the club having served three seasons out on loan in Spain to qualify for citizenship, will look to return to Spain to get some match experience and try to hit some sort of form after getting a negligible amount of chances in the congested forward positions.

Arsene Wenger said this week: ““Some offensive players don’t play games like Carlos Vela. If he can get games somewhere else we will loan him out,”

“Not sell him, loan him out because he needs to play. He is a top quality player and at the moment we have too many strikers.

“He does not get the games he deserves. He has an opportunity that I let him go somewhere.”

Despite starting the season in decent form with three goals, including two in a 6-0 battering of Sporting Braga, he has found opportunities somewhat limited despite being in good physical shape. Carlos has found himself excluded from many Premier League match squads in the past two months and has flattered to deceive in the Carling Cup when given the opportunity.

Its a big shame to see his career stall after the lightning start to his Arsenal career with a hat-trick on his first ever start for the club, it wasn’t just any hat-trick, it was full of class and skill. The boy, you could say, can play.

However, last season he failed to build on his start for a multitude of reasons, fitness issues were a big factor, as was his weight – it all coincided for him to produce a poor return after being given chances in the absence of Bendtner, van Persie, Eduardo and Theo Walcott through injury. Andrey Arshavin had to deputise up front.

There have been a number of clubs express an interest in taking Vela up on a loan deal, Valencia, Chievo and his old loan club Osasuna have all been in some type of contact with Arsenal and it seems as if Vela will be the one who decides where his immediate future lies.

Arsenal and Arsene have not given up on turning Vela into the player he threatens to become with him being given at least one more season of his new long-term deal signed recently – ending in 2015.

He still has plenty of time left, though Arsenal may start to run out of patience if they still see no improvement in the next twelve months.

He has to go on loan at a premiership club, Spain wont do it for him. There are a few teams that are struggling with their strikers. David Moyes mentioned that he needs someone to score goals for him. I team like everton would be great for him. Arsene also has a good relationship with Houllier so maybe Aston Villa is another good idea.

vela may be better then chamakh but! i think you find vela will never be cut out to play in premier league,i think he be more suited to spanish football, i like vela but, i can’t see him ever breaking in to our starting eleven,or he would of done by now, wenger prefers chamakh and bendtner to vela and you got jet waiting in the wings and the options of walcot and arshavin as well, unfortunatly i think vela needs a long run in the first team, but don’t see him getting it at arsenal, where as we know if you don’t perform straight off the fans want to sell you for someone else where.

  6. Young Gunner says:

Vela needs a loan in the Premier League, going to Spain is what halted his progress in the first place. Yes in that league they learn to play and improve technique but physically as soonas they get used to that level they will rarely make it into the Premier League.
Now im gonna go and Copy&Paste a comment regarding loans I writ on another blog……

Everton would be good options for both Vela and JET as they play decent football at times which will heade them well for Arsenal and lack attacking options. I also hear they are close to selling Yakubu and Vaughn this freeing up attacking spaces.

Eastmond should go to a team such as Bolton, Blackpool or Blackburn, a team that fights hard for results.

I’ve also heard Lansbury is to be returning from Norwich to get a loan to a Prem team such as Wilshere.

I’d like to see Watt and Sunu get Prem loans aswell to gain experience.
I’d personally like Traore and Coquelin to get a season long loan in the Prem next year to see how they fare.

Frimpong and Botelho to slowly be integrated into first team next year. ( Not 100% sure if Botelho is available for next season due to Work Permit issues )

Blackpool would be a good team for Arsenal youngsters as they need more players with talent and are bound to get game time. They also play attractive football, therefore steering them well for The Arsenal.

  8. Carlos vela is a good quality player, he is FAST (speedy) he can DRIBBLE very well, and he is also a GOOD GOAL FINISHER. No doubt on those quality. But he is short. The major problem vela has is that he cannot manage to use his right leg, and he is not tall. All i sugest is that he should be loan to an english club so as to play against tough tacking defenders. So that he will be physically okay. And also wenger should consider playing him in the flanks(wings)because of is dribbling ability. HE IS A PLAYER LIKE LIONEL MESSI we must not loose him
