Arsenal make new improved offer to Joel Campbell for quick decision
Everyone was shocked when the young Costa Rican star Joel Campbell turned down the chance to join Arsenal last week, and there were reports that both Manchester United and Fiorentina had also presented the 20 year-old with counter offers.
But now there are reports coming out of Costa Rica that the Arsenal representatives have got over there initial anger and have now returned with a new improved offer, both financially and conditionally, to the Saprissa striker.
Campbell’s agent, Reynaldo Parks, confirmed that he had received the new offer and was arranging a meeting with the boy’s father Humberto to discuss the details.
Parks said: “The Arsenal agents know the boy is a rough diamond and they were were annoyed to start with, but everything is now “tranquilo”.
Campbell originally said that he would not consider any offers until after the U20 World Cup, but it seems that Arsene Wenger has instructed his agents to give the improved offer on condition that it is accepted before the competition starts…

On the Campbell situation, i think they were really disrespectful and should have ask to come back to the table with a better deal than to not show up for a medical.I understand the need for them to get a better deal with as much money as possible, from the clubs point of view we want to sign in on before his ratings goes up more and his family is hoping for the same to get a better offer. Its really nice to have to have many weapons but too much of the same we need a big strong striker

Relax AKB’s, I brought up Carl Jenkinson’s own goal to simply emphasize that:
1) The defence and goalkeeping weaknesses have yet to be fixed even though it has been OBVIOUS for all (incl.AW) to see for years!!! Even though clichy is sold, nobody has yet been bought to replace him! is it really so difficult to get in a solid, quality defender WAY BEFORE the transfer window closes so that he can integrate into the team!?
2) Injuries do happen throughout the season so if you AKB’s expect vermelaen and whoever you think is good enough in defence to be fit the whole season, then you are all mad!
3) This youth philosophy is absolutely RUBBISH!!

Yeah Jenkinson looks very good and there’s no way he would have tried scoring on purpose. The famous cricketeer Donald Bradman went out for a duck on his debut, a lot of hope went with him and that was embarrassing as hell for him. But he became one of the greatest ever batsmen. Kieron Gibbs slipped on his debut, and now Carl Jenkinson slips up. With the new guy it was in a friendly, thank God, and he will have learnt alot from that too, so it’s all good … plus we won the match anyway. Some people are real negative. People need to shut about Chesney Chezzers, we aint getting another keeper and so it’s not productive trying to undermine the one we have.

Joel Campbell has obvious potential and despite how little us fans know about him you can guarantee that he is not an unknown quantity to Wenger. He is meticulous about everything and this is the source of many fans understandable frustration. We cannot know transfer targets for sure until announcements due to how close Arsene’s cards are to his chest. Therefore we may as well not let it get to us and reserve judgement until the neginning of the season and eventual end to the transfer window. Have faith. Just one thought on a possible Fabregas replacement from outside the club; Christian Eriksen is going to be an unbelievable talent and is more than capable of playing for us now, despite his age. The one and only Dennis Bergkamp recommended him a few years ago and could persuade him to join if Wenger was interested. Although I also think Jack would revel and flourish in a more advanced and free roaming position. Finally it won’t be long until Dennis Bergkamp is back at Arsenal in a coaching capacity. He is the future manager of our club and the continuation of our legacy and policy of total football.

I’m an ex pom’ living in Australia. I faithfully stood on the Highbury terraces and watched Arsenal win nothing In the late 50s and early 60s.
Arsene Wenger Is a genius at spotting talent for the future. Unfortunately he does little or nothing for the present. I’m sure that he is shackled by interference from the top. If he had unlimited resources and free reign The gunner’s would have won 5 or 6 more trophies in the last few years.
It’s a well known fact that you have to invest to accumulate. It’s seems that we have more funds available this year than ever before so please Arsene, sign up a a world class centre back or two and a quality midfielder who can also score.
It’s been a long time between drinks and we Arsenal fanatics are parched.
Can we drink Arsene or are we to suffer another season of ignominy. Everything is in place except the ‘cattle.’
Stamp your foot, swear, shoot somebody or cut your own throat, but please arsene, give us a squad of experienced professional’s who know how to win and will restore our lost pride. Your legend is starting to slip. Please don’t let it hit rock bottom.
