Arsenal midfield duo set for loan move?
It is being reported that Premiership side Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on taking Arsenal youngsters Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin to the Molineux on loan deals until the end of the season.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed his interest in both players. “We played Arsenal in the reserves and I watched them the other night against Manchester City.” he said.
“Some players just need to play, so we can maybe get a loan player. If it can be done, we’ll do it.”
Despite their fantastic performances when given a chance, the duo are finding it increasingly difficult to break into Arsene Wenger’s first-team.
Both players are keen on first-team football and are willing to go out on loan to continue their development. Coquelin has also stated that he would be willing to leave the club in January if he does not get regular first-team opportunities.
While the idea of giving both players some valuable Premier League experience might sound too good to turn down, we must remember that that will leave us with only one defensive midfielder, Alex Song. So in my opinion, Wenger should decide who he wants to keep and let the other one go out on loan. I vote for Coquelin!

maybe 1 of them can go,because we need cover for alex song…coquelin is uneasy at the moment so i think he should go on loan

I agree with others that maybe we should let one of them go on loan not both and that is if we are certain that Jack W will be back end of Jan
historically we have lots of injuries in February onwards so definitely we need covers for Ramsey and Song

I think Frimpong should be loaned out. Coquelin is a solid holding midfielder, and his passing is more advanced than Pong’s right now.
A half a season of consistent first team play will do him wonders.

@ rohan keep with the news mate cameroon wont be going to the acn. however frimpong could yet get a call up. i am for letting them both go on loan but only on 2 grounds. one they can be recalled if needed and the second condition is we sign mvila.

I agree with northbAnk – frimpong should stay and be given his chance, who’s the cover when song leaves for the African cup?
In my opinion, frimpong is the exact player we have all been crying out for since flamini left. A terrier in midfield who hassles every opponent and gets in their faces. Perfect protector for Wiltshire and arteta, in the way flamini was for fabregas!!

Once they go out on loan and taste first team football on a regular basis they won’t want to go back to the reserves
they need to break into the first team at Arsenal,but on the other hand if they play regular they may impress Wenger
more catch 22.

Loan out Coquelin. Frimpong is a better player than Coquelin, sending him out on loan and not Coquelin may undermine his confidence.
Coquelin wants first team football, give it to him at Wolves. Frimpong hasn’t said a word about how little he plays, he takes his opportunities when they come. If Coquelin belives he is ready then try him out. I’m tired of hearing players complaining about how little they play, Denilson, Bendtner, Coquelin, Arshavin. These players need to train hard and bide there time just like Miquel, Frimpong, Wilshere (before he was given his chance).
I say purchase M’Vila, he is out and out DM minded. Very consistent and very simple, just what we need in DM
Song, M’Vila and Frimpong in DM, that would be seriously good for the present and future.

@Rohan: Cameroon didn’t qualify for the ANC so Song isn’t going anywhere. Coquelin has been on loan, Frimpong hasn’t so if anyone it’ll be Frimpong. he’s also the least mature (yet arguably the most potential) and needs game time to work on his temperament- a team like wolves which always play a physical game would be a good move for him to get his energy focused in the right way.
As for January signings- it won’t happen. Miguel will come in at LB until Gibbs returns. Vermaelen can also be deployed there. Our midfield still has Jack to come back who ‘will be like a new signing’ i’m sure Wenger will say. Up front African Nations Cup will leave us a little short but we’ll only miss Gervinho as Chamakh is useless. Wenger has already said he has enough strength in depth up front to cover the ANC unless someone gets injured. Let’s just hope it isn’t RVP!

They both have great potential. I would prefer Coquelin go on loan…Frimpong is more of a fighter and his work rate is a bit higher, so if Song ever does get injured I would prefer him in DM. Besides we need someone to crunch Silva whe we play Shitty…I believe T.A Baraka is our man.

If i was Wenger i will loan both coquelin and frimpong bcz they are great players,so look at J wilshere loan now he is usefull for us so plz wenger let them go and bring us podolski,mario gotze and exchange djourou to Samba…

Based on the fact that Song is staying and Wilshere is coming back, I only see Frimpong leaving on loan.
I also think Coquelin is closer to first team action that Frimpong.

this obsession with sending players out on loan is astonishing. you will think arsenal have a squad the side of man city or barca.
if the news is true then arsene and arsenal fans have not learned and have lost the desire to win. yes because we are only 12 points behind the league but we’re only aiming for 4th place.
we sent out reserve top scorer on loan and kept the gruesome 2some up front only to get embarrassed by the greeks. unlike chamakh and arshavin, sanchez watt is a fighter and he’s not longer a kid coz he’s 20.
we lose on average one player a game through injuries and we keep sending players out to other teams and get left with deadwoods.

Well Frimpong and Coquelin have both expressed their desire to play more regular football. They both have to be patient. Right now they’re both not ready to play 90mins. I believe Wenger is waiting til January to make this decision. We forget we still have Diaby as backup for Song even though I’m hearing moans and groans over this decision. Diaby in my opinion is a more reliable player than Frimpong or Coquelin. Of late, injuries have just held him back, but there is still no one better than Diaby to fill Song’s shoes.

did you know that frimpong can also play emergency left back and coquelin can play emergency right back. plus we have fa cup game in january if we deplete our team b we will be left with the usual suspects. arshavin, chamakh,rosicky, squillaci.
stop making a non story, frimpong and coquelin are going nowhere and we are not buying m’villa.
