Arsenal must go to Milan with all Guns blazing!

Posted on February 13, 2012 by admin

Merry Monday Arsenal fans! How’ve you been? Well, the truth is, it doesn’t matter how you’ve been because I’m pretty certain that the Gunners next two games are going to decide how you’re going to be for a long, long time. Today we enter one of the most important weeks of the season so far. This week goes some way to deciding the fate of Arsenal’s season; mess this week up and we are pretty much out of two competitions. I know, it’s mammoth and doesn’t bear thinking about. But let’s take it one game at a time and look ahead at, on paper, the tougher of the two fixtures: AC Milan away.

We have a slight psycological buffer in this game as, if we lose, we can always fall back on the knowledge that Milan have to come to the Emirates. This shouldn’t enter our minds and we should be going for the kill regardless, but the thought is comforting.

I thought that I might give you some background knowledge on Milan as I feel that, like myself a few weeks ago, there will be some who know very little about our Italian opponents (by the way, this isn’t an insult, just a statement). Anyway, Milan. Milan currently sit at the top of a very strong Serie A and so will be no pushovers (Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus all compete in Serie A). They are two points clear of Juventus and the only reason that they finished second in their Champions League group was because Barca claimed the top spot.

Their team is full of attacking prowess, with Ibrahimovic and Robinho both being world class strikers. At the back, as well, Thiago Silva is a rock in their defence. Kevin-Prince Boateng, Clarence Seedorf and Mark van Bommel also contribute to a strong line-up. Furthermore, they had the opportunity to rest players at the weekend as they won 2-1 away at Udinese. The fact that they rested players and still won away should tell you something. Therefore, they will be a team racing out of the blocks at a home ground where they are very strong.

However, there are positives for Arsenal in the buildup. Pato, their best striker, is ruled out with a muscle tear and, well, no, there’s nothing else really…

In all seriousness, I think that we definitely have the ability to beat Milan and definitely shouldn’t go there feeling like underdogs, even if the media dub us as such. Our boys will be raring with confidence from their heroic comeback at the weekend as well as our demolition of Blackburn. Let’s not forget that we have the most in form striker in the world as well as a world class manager in Arsene Wenger (ooh, controversial statement!). No, I think that we should not forget that we are one of the greatest and most reputed clubs in world and go to the San Siro in expectation of giving this Milan side a good thumping.

Come on you Gunners!

Wenger is world class as much as any hater in here would disagree. When Real madrid call for someone, that means they are regarded amongst the best of the best.

When Wenger leaves, Arsenal will play a different game and those haters would then want him back. Appreciate and be grateful for what we have, because when he leaves, an Arsenal legend leaves as well!

People may think i’m mad but this is the best chance for Arsenal to win the Champions League. Apart from Chelsea we have no English competition. Yes its a tall order to beat Barca, Madrid & Bayern but its time for the players to stand up for Wenger & the fans.

Hope the occasion is not too big for us……We need to be very Italian in this game, tighter than a Duck’s butt at the back and poach a goal on the counter. We cant play on the back foot though or we will get murdered. Need a strong first 20 mins and get the crowd working against the home side.
Hope Walcott actually turns up for once.

I want arsenal to give all,but not in a way that will affect our players,we have seen what insufficient rest caused against fulham,we still av a tough tie away at the stadium of light at d weekend,I would hate to see us out of the FA cup because we are chasing a less realistic UCL dream

think we need to get at milan from the get go, fast tempo suits us, dont give them time to settle, if we get first goal, they could be in big trouble, rvp might just stun them.

and add to that a (1)world class profit machine club. (2)world class feeder club. (3)world clas developing youth club.

guys tv5 hv cme out n say that he hv been fed up with the leftback position??

    0-1 win,or by cmfortable margin,or a draw to bring to the emirates wud be jst alright. bt the fa cup is a must win!!sunderland wud wnt to payback.They show hw strong they are aftr their replay ended till xtra time.wenger shud nt moan about the schedule. cus this is a one by one situation n it is fair.a win in champs league n fa cup wud be a massive boost.bt if we lose this both. it cn turn to be yet another dissapointing season as usual. mylineup against milan;

    szczesny
    sagna-song-kos-tv5
    rosicky-arteta
    walcut-ramsey-chambo
    rvp

if gibbs cn mke it. he start at the leftback. tv5 n kos in the middle. song into cntre midfield with arteta. rosicky in the attacking midfield role.ramsey in the bench. if rvp hv fatigue. replace him with henry upfront. walcrap or chambo for arshavin dpend on their performance on the day. ramsey for anyone. if we wna go for more attacking replace him with gibbs. f we go for dfending replace him with rosicky.aslong we put on a show. n no more players injured.

Walcott usually plays brilliantly in the big games, and we desperately need that in this one. If he can be at his best, and RVP can just be himself, I’m confident those 2 will combine and we will get the away goal we need! Plus we have the Ox on the other side! WATCH OUT MILAN!

Ibra is sick, not expected to play. If Barca were able to be beaten by Osesuna, who is Milan to be unbougable. We have the best squad in Euro, all teams are scared of. Arshavin to show miracle. We hope for the best.

Abate flying down the ryt wing cud b a problem as he’s a pacy attacking ryt bak not usual of italians. They will miss pato but they hv cassano ibi robinho. Hopefully RVP scores a hattrickk and silences the San Siro. 3-1 to the arsenal

  21. alex says:

As a Milan fan (I support both Arsenal and Milan) I can confidently tell you dont expect this to be easy. The San Siro is never an easy place to go to and the last time we went, although we won was quite a fluke to be honest. Italians know how to play and even though they are never the favorites they are the teams you should be afraid of the most.

The biggest threat in this team is not Ibrahimovic (of course we cannot dismiss him) but Clarence Seedorf. As much as I like the quality of our defense Clarence Seedorf is a genius (on equal levels to Xavi). He can dribble, pass and his long range efforts are sublime.

We will definately have to look for the counter attack in this game, especially if we are looking at Van Persie for goals because these will be the best defenders he plays all season (Nesta, Thiago Silva) and believe me when I say they will mark the shit out of him. Not to mention what Italian defenders are famed for, what I like to call the strategic foul. Any good buildup we have will be ruined by a purposely made foul in the middle of the park. Italians will find a way to win, by ALL means. They will frustrate, time waste, and any sort of tactic they can come up with ruin the team or the player’s mentality.

The wings will definitely be where we should attack. Abate is great going up but like our Andre Santos and Gibbs is a little lackluster in defending. Antonini is slow and can definitely be beaten by the Ox.

As long as we grab a goal then we will be okay heading back to the Emirates.

In terms of lineup I think we would be best with this set up:

    ———–Szcesny————
    ——Koscielny–Vermaelen—-
    –Sagna————–Coquelin-
    ———Song—Arteta——–
    –Ox——Ramsey—–Arshavin-
    ———–Van Persie———

Allow Walcott in wit 15-20 mins left to destroy them with pace and if needed send in Henry. Someone with the experience and finishing touch of Henry will definitely be needed if we want to beat this defense.

Lol Robinho is not a world-class striker.Hes not really even a striker.Hes more of a winger for me because Strikers have an eye for goal.Ronaldinho & Kaka had it but Robinho doesn’t.Milan’s world-class strikers are Ibra & Pato.Cassano maybe but hes more of a mid-fielder.

Attack down the wings, exploit their weakness of one or two slow defenders and play to our strengths of pace throughout the field and our man with the Midas touch

It’s gonna be a hard fought battle…Milan have some top top players but so do we, I think it’s gonna come down to who wants it more and i think the answer will be Arsenal.! I know Madrid and Barca are still in the cometition but apart from them we should fear nobody.!We beat Dortmund already who are the German champions so why should be fear Bayern. Milan is a verry good side but so is Arsenal! This is the chance that we have got to show the world that AFC is still one of the best clubs in the world! I do not think we will win at Milan, but we will draw 1-1 and the at the Emirates show them how to play real football in a amazing stadium in front of the best supporters in the world! over the 2 legs AFC will win 4-1 and make the whole of Europe notice that we mean F**king business!!

Well folks, it doesn’t hurt to dream!! I pray that you are all correct, but with Wenger in charge; who only knows 1 and I mean 1 style of play ….. mmm … don’t be too down cast when we get a drubbing. Its not the lads, its not the board of directors and least of all will it be for lack of our support. It will be WENGER’s fault and his alone. Please, please let me be wrong!
