Arsenal Planning Twin Raid On Ajax In January
January cannot come soon enough for some people. It means Christmas will be over, the warmer spring weather will be just around the corner, but more importantly for Arsenal and their supporters the transfer window will be open again.
After a fourth defeat in just seven league games the calls for new players are becoming louder and the latest names being mentioned are Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen and midfielder Christian Eriksen. Vertonghen has been on the shopping list for some time now, but after more poor defending yesterday the name of Eriksen has cropped up again as well.
Only last week we brought you the news Arsenal were planning to get Vertonghen in January because Ajax were resigned to losing him. An insider at the club said, “We know he’s leaving, but not when. Maybe in January.”
Well today according to website Caught Offside Arsenal are planning a double swoop on both Ajax players in a deal that could be worth £34million.

Eriksen’s name has been mentioned before about the possibility of a move to Arsenal. During the World Cup last year Arsenal were tracking his progress, but that was brought to a sudden halt when the teenager signed a new four year deal at Ajax. Eriksen has clearly made an impression with the scouting team at Arsenal as he made over 40 appearances last season in helping Ajax claim the Eredivisie title.
Eriksen has already played 15 times for Denmark and may well be tempted by a move to England. I don’t know about you guys, but there is no way Ajax will let both go in January no matter how much we offer, if they let either of them go at all that is. Preference has to still be with Vertonghen, because of his links with Thomas Vermaelen, but we all know about Arsene Wenger and Arsenal and their preference for young talented footballers.

I seriously do not think that bringing in more defenders will solve the defense issue. It is more about getting the team to press and defend as a unit. A defensive coach is needed.

we need defenders badly. targets Samba and Cahill’s confidence must be at all time lows as their teams both got hammered again, but they do have the experience of the PL. Why oh why did we not sign one of them in the summer. There is something seriously wrong behind the scenes at our club because those players should be jumping at the chance to play for Arsenal. It can only come down to one thing and that is money. they either are asking for stupid amounts of money, but even then a compromise could and should be struck, or the board are offering the likes of Bolton and Blackburn peanuts. COme On wake up you get what you pay for ffs. Fabregas £35million Aguero £35+. Please sign players in January, but i fear it is too late already to save our season. The best we can hope for is a decent run in the cups, but today I am not optimistic

He is an creative attacking midfielder.
Nonetheless, we should definitely sign him. We missed out on Juan Mata who looks like he’s going to tear up the league; we can’t pin our hopes on Wilshere alone.

wenger you need to wake-up , i believe you’re sleeping , because if you’re not sleeping, then you should have done some thing over our club, the club is beginning to be more expose , can you imaging that, every other club will use arsenal to gain a point, and arsenal has now becoming feeders team to the other club, that’s insulting to the club.
now look at the breaking news now about VAN-PERSIE, he’s now planning to another thing entirely, may-be he will go to MANCHERSTER-CITY or other club like BARCA, you very soon you will see that SONG will be going as well , and every other players too.

If you look At our team we do have some very talented players, there is room for improvement though in all areas. I think it’s more to do with the coaching. I think we need some of the players that were feared or that were at arsenal when no1 wanted to play us because we were so good, like Ian wright, bergkamp, adams, keown, petit.. They were all world class and know how to play a good game.

ya were all waitin till jan and hoping it doesnt get worse untill then but we all no that wenger is not going to sighn big players these roumers come up year after year and we all get are hopes up then in the tranfer window opens nothing happens im sick of it are chance of fourth has already gone out the window and when were not in the champions leuge they wont want to join us anyway sorry but its true it couldnt get any worse for us now the only decent players we have are injured and the likes of rvp could leave this summer he wants trophies and it wont happen at arsenal until the way the club is ran is changed fast are we running a buisness that makes monet or a club that wins titles

A change in defensive tactic is needed. Mertsacker is too slow to play such a high line. A defensive Coach would do the us a lot of good.

There will be no January transfers. The price will go up by 1 million each for the Ajax pair and then they will no longer be a bargain or “fair value” so Chelsea or Liverpool will pay up and take them on.
The team we have this year is the team we will play with and if the injuries continue, I believe we should all get to know the names of the reserves very well indeed.
TV can’t get back into the side soon enough and I’d really like to see Park somewhere in the vicinity of RVP on the pitch in a match asap.

i do think city,chelsea,united will drop points.the problem is arsenal wil drop as well.arteta has nothing new 2 offer but passing d ball here and there.i expected some terrific lob pass,through balls etc from him but nothing as of yet.

Don’t let the goal skew your perspective, ramsey was brutally bad yesterday…we had a dominant spell of possession to begin the 2nd…that is our quality and the potential this team has…ramsey, playing the wrong balls…too many poor passes to noone..last 20 minutes of the game zero possession…no heart, no desire in this team. Looked defeated at the 70 min mark…ITS ONLY ONE GOAL. Gervinho showing classic Arsenal flaw…inability to finish in front of net…Anyone else see his turn in second half, had the ball 14-15 yards out with clear chance to shoot but does not…then 2 minutes later tries to shoot from 25 yards out WTF!!! Enough passing inside the box, enough crossing to NOONE! shoot the ball….Arsenal plays like we have 6 foot target men in the middle but no one picks up their heads to realize no one is making any runs…stupid stupid tactics. A lot fo quality, but no heart and poor tactics.

Bendtner will probably tell Eriksen to forget about joining Arsenal. At the way things are going for Arsenal in the league, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bendtner scores against Arsenal on Sunday!!!!
Sunderland are just 1 point behind Arsenal and if they win, Arsenal might end up in the bottom three!!! that would be a disaster!

Per is better but we do need a coach to get them to play as a unit… No individual players can be blamed for the mess in defense… At the moment I think we should go back to man marking because we do not seem to be able to do it zonally!!
Just happy that there is at least 3 other teams worse than us…

I look at Arsenal alot of the time and the body language is all wrong you can see the expressions on their faces are not that of pumped up 100% focused mean machines, which is were you need to be, utterly ruthless….. Vertonghen and Eriksen would be excellent signings for the Gunners. A line-up with those guys would be ready to compete for the title again:

To bad Arsenal always have so many injured players.
Btw, if Arsenal is intending a raid on Ajax, I would also advice Alderweireld and Boilesen. Nicolai Boilesen is a talented left-back, 19 years old and he already proved to be of great value for Ajax. But I doubt Ajax will let him go now already. Alderweireld is another interesting signing. In my opinion he’s a better defender than Vertonghen. Can score headers from corners just like Vertonghen and has a powerful long distance shot. He still has great potential being only 23 years of age, while he does have a lot of experience already playing alongside Vertonghen at the center-back position for over two years. And being the right-back for the Belgium national squad as well.
