Arsenal players may need a break but they don’t want it!
After four games in twelve days, nobody would argue with an Arsenal player needing time out of club football for the international break, but it is pleasing to know that for the majority of them, it couldn’t be more unwelcome.
Having collected 19 points out of a possible 21 in their last seven games, Arsène Wenger’s men are showing the best form of the league. Manchester City, on the other hand, may be sitting proud at the top of the table but their win at QPR was anything but easy, whilst neighbours United struggled to scrape a win against Sunderland.
Still, the international lull could well give fringe players the chance to show their worth to the Arsenal team. Djourou faces Holland and Luxembourg with Switzerland whilst Arshavin’s Russia are up against Greece. His confidence for the Gunners is always given a boost after a good result for his national side so Wenger is likely to have a happy player returning considering Greece’s mediocre squad.
The biggest fear of all for the club and its fans is Robin Van Persie’s injury status, which so far this season has been untainted but Wenger has admitted that the Dutchman is ‘running on empty’. Whether he plays a part in the Switzerland or Germany games or not, it could be good for him to have a break from a period in which the attention and pressure has been almost solely on him.
Arsenal’s first opponents after the international break are Norwich at Carrow Road. Their home record reveals just one home defeat in five games there, so it does seem a shame that the Gunners won’t be able to face them directly after a brilliant run of form. Add to this the daunting arrival of German champions Borussia Dortmund to the Emirates and it soon becomes clear that this break is the last thing that Wenger would have wanted, especially as it only consists of friendlies for Arsenal players (with the exception of Rosicky’s Czech Republic).
The last international break in October was met with relief following the nightmare at Old Trafford, while last season’s friendlies during March after defeats to Barcelona, Manchester United and a draw to West Brom were also a chance for Arsenal’s players to recover.
This time round, though, they simply want to play. Will the international break disrupt the Gunners’ flow much at all, or will they simply continue where they left off?

They might not want it , but they definatley need it . Especially rvp ,Ramsey and santos who looked wrecked after half an hour of our last two games. Fully expect them to pick up where they left of against norwich

These breaks always allow a rest for some and a chance to shine for others.
Going into the Norwich game however, I think Wenger should at least take Ryo. He looks like something else! Gervinho’s stats and work rate are good but his ball retention and reliability are not, especially later on in the game. Giving Ryo a run out would give him a chance to force Gervinho to step up his game.

At this point in the season, we are on a high, and the last thing we want are more injuries. At the beginning of the season, it was easy to see that we were missing Wilshere, and we were completely lacking creativity in the midfield, and has taken as a long time to recover from that, but I believe that we are there now.
Therefore the last thing that needs to happen now is for another key player to get injured on international duty (eg Van Persie, Verminator)as it will not only affect how the team plays, but it will affect their personal form, which would completely stop the momentum that Van Persie has got now.

Hmmmm, yes the run of seven games has been great but much of this I think is down to keeping a momentum going. This keeps the attitude the same, keeps the flame of self belief burning in the dressing room, it keeps the muscles primed for the work they’re needed for, it keeps the daily and weekly routine running like clockwork and robotically the team perform and do well.
During the international break, this routine is smashed. It takes weeks for the momentum of the routine to return. The international break slackens the readiness of the muscles and this increases the chances of injuries, especially after returning to the club. The self-belief and attitude in the dressintg room is affected by individual players if their national sides just lost their games – the momentum is gone.
From experience, Arsenal seem to lose at least one key player during every international break. How many of our key player positions are covered by players who can get that momentum of a winning mentality going again? I see disaster if one of Ramsey, Mertesacker or Van Persie are injured. If two are injured then we’ll start sliding back down the table.

They will come back fine and strong. Also I like what I see now on the Arsenal bench. I really do think we are getting back to the glory days well at least moving in the right direction. We want to c more of the likes of Ryo. By the way did u guys c his run against Bolton, the guy is a bullet. Who is faster, Ryo vs Theo. We got good players breaking through, Miguel, Yennaris(Brilliant), Frim, Coq etc so we got more depth this time around we will do well.
