Arsenal poach Monaco striker from Lille! Wenge’s surprise signing is ready for a medical!
Arsene Wenger never fails to surprise us, and it looks like he has pulled off a coup by hijacking the move of Monaco’s South Korean striker Park Chu-Young, who had agreed terms with Lille and was supposedly on his way to the north of France to complete a medical with the Ligue 1 Champions.
Instead it seems he has instead headed to the Emirates to finalise a move to Arsenal! The Lille President Michel Seydoux said: “We haven’t had a telephone call, nothing.”
“From what we understand he could be at Arsenal.”
“Like Monaco, Lille are baffled! Everything about his move had been agreed.”
“This type of behaviour is not acceptable, in any event it doesn’t correspond with the spirit here at Lille.”
Even the BBC has confirmed that the 26 year-old is expected to sign for Arsenal once he completes his medical, and although Wenger will be very happy to have sealed the signing, I can’t imagine that Lille are going to be open for any further talks with Arsenal about Eden Hazard!

I don’t think Hazard is coming anyway. Lille turned down a 30m offer. I don’t think he’s worth offering 35m.
If we can get in M’Villa or Marvin Martin, I think we have the quality to challenge on a few fronts.
I’m sure Wenger is going to make a big money move for Cahill on deadline day, but he won’t move big till he has to.

I hope you know that Squillaci was in the top 10 defenders in the Castrol rankings when he joined for us. He was the 17th best footballer worldwide(across positions) iirc.

He’s a quick skillful striker, good finisher and a great passer.
Great cover for RvP and can certainly cause a lot of damage with his direct running. Imagine a great passer Walcott. Well that’s what we’re getting.

Chu-Young is fantastic at international level, and has made a name for himself at club level aswell. To me, it is a great signing because he is much better than Zarate. I would have prefered Hazard or Elia though.. BUT at least Wenger is strengthening the squad

Look people, there is no hazard move to jeopardise. There has not Been a single qoute from arsenal or any reliable source this summer to suggest we are looking at him. Not one. Yet u all talk like it is happening. Also, maybe, just maybe lille mean it when they say they wont sell. Gervinhos stats are much better, and he was much better value, so we bought him. Pretty good header of the ball, good dribbling skills, INCREDIBLE free kicks. Decent shooting, and he’s certainly experienced. First choice for Monaco even though they were relegated AND most importantly, Captain of South Korea.

The same way all our other great ‘unknowns’ Viera,Henry,Pires, Flamini, etc, etc… where ‘discovered’ by AW and made into great players! A personnel from monaco by the name of etienne confirms arsenal made a bid today. Young guns on twitter confirms player is at the colney for a medical,has met with the players. Arsenal is said to ve bid 3mil to go to 5mil. According to j. Sanders,who is also a scout,park is good with both feet,can play right and left wing as well as centre forward. if anyone has been watching French league too for the past seasons, you’ll know who Park is. Is he a good signing? Hell YES. South Korean players are known for their high work rate. How can arsenal be called an elite club if we can not bid for a star of the sort of Hazard
If indeed AW did perform such a “Rambo hijacking” then he should not even dream of making a bid for the virtuoso hazard. Hazard is such a massive talent and it sounds awful to me that he could be exchanged for Park Chu-Young. It would also be very hypocritical on wenger’s part if indeed he whisked the player who was on the verge of completing a move to another club. Wenger has been very vocal about fairness and respect and what hes done is just a betrayal to his own believes and principles.

If arsenal signs him, to me, it means betrayal to lille and backstabing and it wont allow cordial relationship and signing between the two clubs. A player that has gone through medical suddenly went through medical in arsenal without normal procedures.

why not buy hazard a guy with a winning mentality, can play as a LW or CAM n link up with our best signing in a while (Gervinho) feed RVP like crazy till he doesn’t want 2 score anymore, n most inportantly we also sign a striker to back- up RVP Theo hi been begging 4 chances up front n can be an amzing impact super sub like Chicarito was 4 united last season, then sign Lass Diarra or M’villa 2 partner song so Wilshere can be our 1st choice playmaker n ramsey can rotate 2 make sure he doesn’t fatigue, sell arshavin, squid, bendtner n almunia n use the funds 2 buy verthongen n cahill so we have NO LB issue or CB ISSuE n also 2 keep those greedy pigs (the board) happy, how hard is it arsene?
summary: 4 signings 4 issues resolved (this would take 5yrs to fix if we leave it like the goalkeeping issue)

Are you kidding me?.Wenger should buy him in a new york minute….i’m a Nigerian and i watched this guy at the world cup coz S.Korea was in our group alongside greece and Argentina.This guy is quality,he scored a free-kick against us and Nigerians who knew how important that match was will never forget him.i’m a gooner as my family,so we freaking want him at Arsenal.

If Arsenal is really to compete this season like any other club say Man City/U, Chelsea, Liverpool mention it, Park Chu-Young is not enough to solve the club’s problems he can only solve 20 percent of the club’s problem. Arsenal needs more two serious signings.
