Arsenal raise bid for Samba to £10 million
It is being reported this evening that the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still adamant that the Blackburn defender Christopher Samba is the right man to strengthen the Gunners’ defence from set-pieces next season, and has decided to increase his bid.
Wenger originally went for Samba in January but was turned down point blank, and the Congolese international ended up signing a new contract extension at Ewood Park, but Wenger hadn’t given up the chase.
It was reported last week that Arsenal had made an opening bid of £8m for Samba after he announced that he was keen on moving on to a bigger and better club (i.e. Arsenal) but both Blackburn and Arsenal knew that that wasn’t going to be accepted.
Now the Daily Star reports that Wenger has now increased his bid to £10m, which is more in line with the amount that Blackburn value him. There is no doubt that the Rovers will try and hold out for more, but Wenger prefers to get his buying out of the way quickly so he will probably give Blackburn a deadline for an answer or threaten to move on to another target….

I would be very happy with a £10m bid for Samba, if Arsene wanted to go for a top dog then I would suggest taking Chiellini from Juventus but I doubt that will happen. I think keeping the team fresh with new players and getting rid of the failures will really improve Arsenal. Let’s hope I’m right

My only worry with him is to see if he’ll be able to play in a high line when needed. He’s unbelievable when it comes to strength and heading, but is he fast enough?
Plus I still want Koscielny in. He has amazing speed, passing ability, and I believe he’s the most elegant defender we have.
I’d place Vermaelen and Samba as CBs and put Koscielny as Leftback. Or maybe place Koscielny and Samba as CBs and Vermaelen as DMF or Leftback.
Anyway, adding Samba is going to be a definite improvement.

Half of the goals conceded by Arsenal were as a result of set pieces. SAMBA & DJOUROU in the middle with TV5 on the left if Clichy leaves and Sagna on the right is a solid back four. Buy him ASAP….

Decent player but I don’t know if he will cope with the Champions league. That would be more koscielny’s forte. I guess we can rotate which is deeply needed. Hopefully a renewed defence will help in our battle for trophies next season. We just need to keep our existing stars, sell the dead weight i.e Clichy, squalacci, vela, denilson, almunia, rosicky and thats it.

Aussie Jack don’t fall in to the trap of the negative focks. Arsene always acts at the start AND the end of the market. In fact, he talked about it just the other day. We will sign one or two players early and then we’ll get another one near the end. If Clichy goes we’ll replace him at the end too.

I think most Gunners would welcome this buy if it is true. 10M for him is fair value. As far as players like Sakho thats not going to happen. Samba is tested and proven in the PL big,tough and vocal all three highly needed in the side because lets be honest aside from TV5,RVP and Wilshere who else could we consider as a “tough guy”?

All Chris Samba haters out there need to be quiet..Samba and Vermaelen at the center half spot will be awesome. class and size. we will have two very capable leaders at the back which is what we need. he is a bit older and has the premier league experience, can defend on set pieces, and will be able to defend against players like with size and strength like Nolan or Drogba..i think he is a good fit for the gunners.
However i wish for once we would drop some dough and buy a class striker such as Benzema…the only reason Wenger wont is bc he knows he has too many midfielders who are talented and he doesnt want them to be upset….hence the 4-3-3 formation

1. Defensive area : Christopher Samba.
He’s a tough defender and already established with the heavy challenge of EPL. He’ll be useful especially against smaller teams who use physics rather than technique.
2. Midfield area : Eden Hazard.
He’s a ready made World Class Footballer who is equal to Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Don’t lose a chance to get this valuable player.
3. Forward area : Radamel Falcao.

So many are dissing Samba. Are you nuts? Have you seen this guy play other than against us??
Firstly, against us he is a total wall? He dominates everything aerially. He is a leader and totally committed. His work rate is top drawer and he can score goals from set pieces something we fail to achieve.
Secondly against other opposition he can play on the deck and can cover the ground quickly. He is also invesntive infront of goal and has more technique than people give him credit for. He is massive like Crouch but has a good touch. He has a never say die attitude, the only other player we have like that is Wilshere. Players like this are rarely available.
Beyond all the others that are being banded about overseas, he is proven premiership class. He does what it says on the tin. He will be the cheapest of all the Cb’s that Wenger will attempt to sign and is in his prime.
He wont take 2 seasons to get upto speed unlike the other players the clueless observers are mentioning (Jamie).
TV likes to get forward and can leave us exposed. Samba wont do that so you have a player that will hold fort.
We need that. Badly.
The strikers will have to up their game if he joins as they wont get much change from him which will benefit our team in training.

I would be 100% behind this signing, the guy is a beast at not only defending set pieces but scoring from them at the other end. Arsenal concede half their goals from set pieces, he’s a player who is still fairly young and has a bucket load of prem league experience at a much cheaper price than Cahill who I think he is better than anyway.
Now a second top class striker to pair with RVP and Arsenal would be in great shape heading into next season. I know players of this calibre are never usually on Arsene’s radar but Falcao or Benzema are too good not to go after.

CHRISTOPHER SAMBA IS ALSO USED AS A BACKUP LONE STRIKER.
Say, RVP and everyone gets injured as usual, Samba can fill in upfront probably better than Bendy.
