Arsenal rumours 11-11-11 – Javi Garcia, Vargas, Arshavin, Farfan and Almunia
Of course with no football on during the InterLull, so its time for the press to create some Arsenal transfer news to keep the fans interested in reading! And so today’s Arsenal rumours roundup comes exclusively from talkSport, who seem to have a fixation on the Gunners today.
First off all they have Arsene wenger looking at bringing in the Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas, who is currently at the Univesitad De Chile and seems like a bargain at just £5m, but it seems that the 21 year-old is also being tracked by Villarreal in La Liga. Could he be the next Chicharito?
Secondly Talksport have Arsenal tracking a Portugese midfielder called Javi Garcia, but according to his agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, the only rumours about Arsenal have been in the press (probably from Talksport!)
Quilon said: “The only interest from Arsenal in the player is what I have seen in the Portuguese press.
“I can guarantee I have not had any contact with any club about a possible departure from Benfica.
“Javi is happy at the club and he is very happy to stay in Lisbon. He is just thinking about winning the league and playing a big role in the Champions League.”
So that is a total non-story I guess, but Hey! It fills in some space in the papers!
Next we have a proposed swap deal involving Andrei Arshavin and the Schalke04 winger Jefferson Farfan. The 27 year-old Peruvian will be out of contract this summer, and Schalke are hoping that they can swap him for the 30 year-old Arshavin who is also approaching the last year of his deal at Arsenal. I guess many Arsenal fans might be happy with that…..
The last story is about the invisible Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia, who came out of hiding to play four games for West Ham recently. Apparently (according to Talksport anyway) he is refusing to be backup to Szczesny and Fabianski and is desperate for a loan deal for the rest of the season.
He only has two weeks left to find a club, but most of his suitors are from League One, and there is no way they will pay his wages of £50,000-a-week. That would probably pay the wages of everyone at Doncaster Rovers, including the manager! So it looks like Almunia will be staying at the Emirates for the rest of the season……

I agree with you about the fact that this article isn’t the article of the year, and admin says it himself at the beginning… But some people like me appreciate to visit this blog and try to imagine the team with such or such move possibly happening. It might be a huge waste of time but I enjoy it anyway. If you like facts there’s not that much to say and there is no point creating a blog like this one. If you want to read more intelligent things try untold arsenal…
As it’s not the first time I see you sending (spicy) posts on this blog I guess you’re craving for some arsenal news. We are all craving for it… If you’re not happy with what you read you should create your own blog and lead the debates. I’ll come to have a look…

what is it with all these pop ups? in the last week or so i have won an i pad 2, an i phone, half a million pounds and a pair of socks! i have been the 1,000,000 visiter 7 times now! this should be banned because there are some vulnerable people out there who will call these phoney 0891 numbers and get mugged. put them all on the spuds foram, they like paying for crap. (Hi Stuart Oh No you haven’t! The single Pop Up was removed a month ago from JustArsenal! – ADMIN)
Anyway we are arsenal and should set our sights on bigger and better players than the metioned players above. whats more important than new players is to get rid of all the players who dont want to be there, i dont care how good they are. a player with less ability (jenkinson) is worth two of a player who is in the mould of nasri, then get rid of all these toilets that are on 50,000 a week yet dont play.

i’ve been begging to buy vargas for a long time. hes a top talent and in the suarez,tevez and aguero mould. saw him play in the toulon u20 two years ago and he was class. hopefully its true. as for farfan and arshavin swap i wouldnt be a bad deal at all.

Arshavin is one of my favourite players. I think Wenger is misusing him on the wings – Arshavin is a CAM. His performance in the last Carling game proves he can be effective in that role.
I think his pace, skill and directness will make him suited for a counter attacking game. Since he doesn’t do much defending we can have 2 DM behind him. We can also pair him with RVP as a 2nd striker…
Imagine a midfield of Song, MVila and Arshavin against a pressing side like Barcelona?! But hey, if Wenger wants to sell, let him sell, its his team & he’s the boss.

I will imagine avn farfan behind RVP as a supporting sriker, i watch farfan playing 4rm the left flank for shalke, he is amazing, nevertheless Arshavin can also play as a supporting striker. Invarable i strongly believe arsenal nds a striker because RVP might get injured, God forbid.

I don’t think Arshavin is willing to discuss a new deal as himself already admitted struggle for form and first team chances. The swap deal could be possible as i can’t see Arsenal sell Arshavin with a high price due to his contract and performance. Farfan could be a good signing as he is more hardworking and tenacious than Arsh.

almunia £50, squid £50??gunners hv waste £100 for two useles player..rvp only being increase into £90, no wonder our star wana leav,atleast increase his to £150 a week,rest to increase othr guys salaries..what a waste,we gud in the economic bt a waste in paying that much for them..

Either play Arshavin as a support to RVP (just behind in an AM role), or sell him for good money and buy the winger you are wanting Arshavin to be. Currently he is not being used as effectively as he could be.
Get rid of our dead wood, damn it! Almunia, Squid, etc. Use their wages to keep if that’s what it takes, or to increase wages of the players who are roving themselves! Send a message – if you show 100% commitment, so will we.
We do need a back up for RVP, and a creative midfielder, (possibly a winger too).
