Arsenal rumours 12th Aug – Vieira, Chamakh, Subotic, Hangeland and Krul
Todays papers are busy with speculation about Arsenal for a change. Could it be because Wenger has openly said that he is unlikely to buy anyone?
The Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is yet again linked, but FGS we all KNOW that Wenger hasn’t spoken to Fulham. Wenger said so, Hodgson said so, and now the giant Norwegian is cup-tied for Europe anyway, so what would be the point? It’s about time the Press gave this one a rest.
Patrick Vieira has said he will be staying at Inter Milan next season apparently. Okay Wenger said that he MIGHT consider bringing him back, but surely he wouldn’t have got to play much if he did, so there was not much point in the move for either side.
Subotic? Don’t you just love the Daily Mail’s transfer coverage. This is the whole (made-up) article in full: Arsenal are back on the trail of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis was in Germany on Monday ready to make a £12m offer for the 20-year-old Serb.
Everton have also shown interest in the 6ft 4in centre back.
They certainly know how to fill space with useless articles! So we can discount that one.
As i speak, Subotic’s agent has released a denial already! He said: “I have had no contact with Arsenal and I have spoken to Dortmund and they have told me that they have had no contact with Arsenal whatsoever.”
The trail of Marouane Chamakh has reached a dead-end, with Bordeaux admitting that they have had no further contact with Arsenal since turning down their first and only offer. It seems that Fulham and West ham are now fighting over him. He was always going to be too expensive for Wenger anyway.
I reckon the Le Boss may go in with one slightly higher offer on the last day if Bordeaux haven’t managed to sell him by then.
The Young Guns website has Arsenal watching the England U21 Goalie Tim Krul, currently at Newcastle, during last nights England U21’s 0-0 draw with Holland. It seems he has been very impressive lately, but i reckon Newcastle probably need him more than Arsenal at the moment.
So a very eventful day, speculation-wise, but as i said at the beginning Arsene Wenger has told everyone that there is unlikely to be any more arrivals, so my verdict has to be the same.
