Arsenal rumours 21st July – Mata, Fab4, Lukaku, Jorgenson and Scott Dann

This is the roundup of todays Arsenal transfer news and it makes interesting reading as always. It looks like the Fabregas saga is going to come to a head very soon after Pep Guardiola assured his protege that he will do everything to get him to Barcelona, and the Mirror is reporting that Cesc himself has made it plain he wants to quit Arsenal and is desperate for Wenger not to block his dream move back to the Nou Camp.

If true, this puts Wenger in a very delicate position as he will hardly want to keep an unhappy player, but he also will be loathe to let Barcelona have him cheaply. But if Wenger looks at it logically and gets a price for Juan Mata that is LESS than he recoups for Fabregas, then it will be a case of a straight replacement without losing out. The Valencia coach Unai Emery stated today: “The possibility exists that Mata will leave the club,”

“We want him to stay and Mata has also expressed his desire to stay at Valencia, but at the same time we cannot stop a player who really wants to leave for money or for a bigger club.

“So, if there is a large financial offer from any club, that is good for both us and him, we will have to let him leave.”

So Mata is pretty much in the same postion as Fabregas then, except he could go to any club!

With no news on the Cahill and Samba front, Arsenal are now being linked with two other central defenders. The first is Birmingham’s Scott Dann, who is a similar type of player (and just as big!) as the other two, but with a much cheaper price having defended his way into the Championship with the Midlands club.

The other defender (who just popped out of nowhere) is the Copenhagen captain Mathias Jorgensen. Despite only being 21, the 6ft 3in has been playing for the Danish giants for three years (and won the title every time!) and must be pretty imposing if they’ve made him captain already. At £5m he could be a real bargain and a typical Wenger signing. In fact I like the sound of this particular Arsenal rumour!

The last bit of gossip concerns the young Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku. I always thought it was obvious that he would sign for Chelsea in the end, but the Mirror reckons that both Arsenal and Tottenham are both in the running, especially after he said: “I’m not obliged to sign for the Blues.”

“There are other big clubs in Europe,” he continued. “I want to aim as high as possible.”

How that puts Tottenham in the running I’ll never know! But no matter the rumours I still can’t see Wenger stopping him from moving to Chelsea…….

***If Barcelona want Fabregas – then they can buy him on Ebay!***

Mata in and cesc out would be a great move as mata is also a left winger with great vision of the game, pass and shoot… It could convince nasri to stay because it is a quality sign and cesc place would be available. There would be a cash bonus on the operation that could be used to buy a CB. Maybe a LB and why not one more offensive option for the future… I think we also miss competition for the DM so the verthongen option would be the best to me even though it’s also the more expensive (around 20 M euros am I wrong?). I think jorgenson is not what we need right now for the first team.
Lukaku could be the one more offensive option for the future I just talked about. I would be as glad as stunned if he came, but isn’t JET just as good? I wonder. (JET is older for a start). Anyway with chelsick and manchester’s pity sharking around it’s far from being a done deal.
The good new seems to be that arsenal is still on the transfert market with a few targets depending on who comes who goes… Don’t lose faith friends with denilson and bendtner out the situation is already brighter!

its understandable dat wenger is concerned abt spendin more.but what he doesnt realize is dat sometimes dat one signing could redefine the team as a whole….sometimes a player cud stand bigger than the team(maybe lukaku is one of those, talented and lukin strong at only18).luk at d impact van der sar, messi, rooney, ballack(chelsea),alonso(for liverpool) had for their teams.de rossi is another biggie whos considered to b an IMPACT PLAYER.wenger jus doesnt realize it.if wenger finds such a player,he shouldnt hesitate 2 go dat xtra mile……..

Please can somebody just get this Fabregas thing sorted out and let’s move on.Sell him off for whatever, bring in Jorgen -5m;Mata-20m;Melo-12m; Lukaku-20m and we are home. Is this something we cannot afford? Come on, relief us Gooners of this tension please.

I am arsenal thru an thru, but I would quite happily see fabregas go sit on the bench at barca, he’s turned into anelka with that miserable little look, injury prone, and I honestly believe we’ve seen his best days. wilshere is more than capable of stepping in, and id like to put nasri in fabregas position, and given the contract he wants. as for defense, samba alongside vermaelen would be a great partnership. as for our strike force, rvp, lukaku (fingers crossed) with gervinho sitting just behind

    Dear Arsenal Fans,

I have Felippe Melo has been quoted saying he is leaving Juventus this summer but instead of going to Sao Paulo he has received an offer from a big European team offering him an increase in wages. Melo is a long term Arsenal target who Wenger has publically stated an interest for. Maybe a deal to Arsenal will be finalised in the coming days.

I’m not sure about Cahill although I’ve read he wants to join Man City, I don’t know how true that is so don’t bank on it….

Juan Mata probably the likeliest player Arsenal will sign this summer. He has been an established transfer target for Arsenal for a few years now and rumours had it that he agreed personal terms along with Hazard a few seasons back but as always the Transfer sum was the issue. But know it seems that Valencia are wiling to listen to offers and are asking for £20 million to sign him. Could Wenger add two million to that audacious bid he made before………

Recent news saying Wenger is closing on a deal for the 28 year old Frank Ribery for £20 million. I’m not sure about this one, I mean yes he’s French so there’s a possibility.

Benzema to Arsenal unlikely guys for £27 million this would take a near on miracle… but they can happen folks.

Sky sources stated Wenger will accept a £40 million bid for Fabregas which I deem as a fair price. Nasri will stay and run out his contract as Wenger believes he can convince Nasri to sign on a new deal, with his new signings and the trophies and success that will bring next season. Bold move, but logical thinking.

Please this is a plea to all genuine Arsenal fans. If by emirates cup, Wenger and the board have not yet bought a def midfielder to cover for Song in December and at least one central defender and a proven left back to enable them blend, we should all boycott the tournament and show him how important fans are and how important it is good to respect their views.

Arsenal don’t win titles because arsenal do not have GERMANS.
They should not waste money on cahill or samba. buy players like Mario Gotze, Andre Schurrle, Holger Badstuber, Thomas Muller, Marko Marin or Toni Kroos. This wont happen because of Arsene’s fetish with french player and what happened in the war.

I can’t understand why anyone would want fabs to go. He’s clearly our best player, and has been for the past 5 years. We rely on him too much, yes, but he is amazing and has always treated our club with the utmost respect. When he does leave he will be fondly remembered as an Arsenal legend just like Henry, Vieira and Ljungberg. Nasri, on the other hand is a mercenary who had two average seasons and wants to jump ship as soon as he came good. He is just like Adebayor, no respect for the club or it’s tradition.

    Mathias Jorgensen.

This is an international Defender, plays for Denmark.
Did Samba, or Cahill get into the England team and play in competitive matches?

We may not have heard of him, but his caliber is better than the other two. He’s knows for scoring goals as well.
Well worth £5 million or more.

Fabregas with be a big success for Barca. Mark my words.he is that good he will be an instant impact coming as a sub and towards the end of the season he will take Xavis place… the boy is excellent. Then we will regret not asking for a bigger transfer fee.
I am a die hard arsenal supporter, and it pains me to see him go. but I wish good luck and thank him for years of dedication and taking big responsibility at a very young age.

The mockery of the most exciting but shaky team in the epl is becoming boring. The board wants him(wenger) to spend yet he wont is funny. Who employed who. Its because he gives them profit every season so why would they put real and true pressure on him. The issue of buying and selling players may not be easy as fans want it but how come it took man city just four days to sign clichy. The problem with the team is so clear that a blind man can see it. I ask is it the quality or the character of the team

That has made us lose winning the epl all these years. If we had a player like carragher or kompany or dawson wuld we lose a four goal lead against newcastle.Djourou said d defense has quality but lost focus can a quality player not have focus. We he playrs like song to me who is not intelignt enuf to be in this great team but is in the team. I know most arsenal fans will argue abut this evn in nigeria we hv tht argumnt bt i ask thm hw intelignt pas or intersectn has any seen song made. We need benzema melo

would really like to see Juan Mata coming in..and if Nasri stays, i could imagine we are going to be very good offensive team in EPL..get Mata and get a strong and calm defender..Per Mertesacker would be fantastic..these 2 addition coming in, we will be untouchable again. i think Juan Mata will be expensive but he still young and Valencia will letting him go for 20-30 million. there will be more fantastic if we can keep Cesc and Nasri and buy Mata..amazing rite????

Two years forth and he would be nagging because he wants to go to either madrid or barcelona.

I thought it was only reyes, but then merida and now fabregas!

I think we should splash the cash on hazard. he now might be worht 25-35 but in 3 years he would 75-90!, plus it doesnt even matter, because he would really aid us getting titles, and i think he would love to play alongside vermaelen, and same vermaelen alongside him.

If it is true that wenger bid for jagielka, then it is proof enough that we need a change. Who in God’s good earth ( other than phil’s mom ) could honestly say jag is technically better than kos? And exactly how are they phisically different? Is jag the aerially dorminant defender or the non nonsense stopper we so urgently need? And how is it that wenger decides everything? What is the job of the board and Exactly why do arsenal even need one? Between stan and alisher, they own more than 90% of the club. So who is getting paid for doing nothing? I would think the club needs those monies to start buying players. One more thing, exactly who in arsenal has the power to lean on or fire wenger? Is there anyone? Cos Obviously, someone has not been doing his job.
