Arsenal rumours 5th August – Bendtner, Parker, Samba, Barton and sulky Fabregas
There is very little actual Arsenal transfer news about today, but there are lots of rumours! The main story seems to be the appearance of Cesc Fabregas at the Members Day at the Emirates. Although he was applauded by the crowd, most papers have got pictures of him looking decidedly glum and sulky at in the open training session.
Some papers are saying Arsenal have rejected yet another Barcelona offer, and one says that Wenger will threaten Barcelona with playing him in the Champions League Qualifier to get him cup-tied for Barca. I think if the deal isn’t done before then, the Gunners will have a very unhappy captain for another year….
It seems that Stoke have now emerged as a new contender for Nicklas Bendtner’s signature. Although I am not a great fan of the big-headed Dane, I feel sure he will score goals for anyone if played as a centre-forward. Perhaps buyers have been put off by his ego (and his wages!). Stoke might be the perfect match for him though as they love long balls into the box……
Chris Samba is definitely old news, and the best the papers can come up with today is that Blackburn have priced him at £12m. This price has been fluctuating all summer so I reckon that one was just a space filler, although one paper said that Spurs had offered £6m plus a player (any player?)……
The Metro reckons that Arsenal and Tottenham are both going to make a bid for Scott Parker, and Sam Allardyce is sure he will be leaving West Ham, but I can’t see Wenger taking him unless it was just for one year….
And of course, last but not least, the ever-Twittering Twit Joey Barton is continually slagging off his (ex-)club Newcastle while saying how much he loves the bland-and-white. Arsenal are one of the players linked with him, but Alan Pardew has not ruled out him staying at Newcastle for his final season.
I really can’t see Wenger paying any amount of money for such an outspoken trouble-maker. I’d rather have Parker any day. Wouldn’t you?

I think joey, managed right would make a great addition. Wenger can’t handle players like Barton. Wenger likes 17 years old kids, so when he says jump, they say how high boss!!

Well if this Mata deal peters out, which it looks like it has, then it may be a good idea to get parker, who I was a fan of last season. I don’t think getting parker AND barton is a good idea as it will deny people like Ramsey playing time. What happened to the jagielka deal? Get samba for 12m FOR SURE

Barcelona should just decide at once and pay Arsenal the 40 million pounds that Arsenal wants in order to sell Fabregas,there’s no big deal/problem there because Barcelona are neither mean nor economisers with their money! Then Arsenal should fire Wenger and appoint elegant tactful coaches like Frank Rijkaard,Guus Hiddink, Louis van Gaal,David Moyes e.t.c to coach it for it to be winning trophies.

It’s inevitable that Fab4 will leave, and its just a matter of time. I don’t see why any other club would want to pay bendtners wages for such an average player. He’s had enough time to prove he can score goals in the premier league, so what makes people think he will start scoring for stoke? He needs to maybe play in the Championship, score goals and get his ego right up there, so a possible loan deal could be the solution. As for Samba, I think he’s the Yids, Wenger seriously needs 2 step up and purchase Cahill as liverpool have recently expressed interest. And, personally, I think Barton (although his reputation) would make a great addition to the squad. He can add balls, steel and that fierceness that we so badly need. And he is PERFECT, because I think ppl are forgetting… We can get him for FREE!!!

Wenger should be given a honorary doctorate degree of Economics because; 1.He/Arsenal has a lot of money and also some Arsenal shareholders like billionaires Stan Kroenke and Usmaov have sacrificed their billions of money to help Arsenal financially e.g. buying whichever number of players of whichever prices but he doesn’t like spending a lot of this money to buy experienced elegant players who can help Arsenal to be winning trophies.
2.If he wants to buy a player and they tell him to pay 15 million pounds and above,he’ll either bargain so that that price either be reduced to be less than 15 million pounds or will even reject buying that player at that price thinking that is a lot of money or very expensive yet other clubs like Man City,Real Madrid, Inter Milan,Barcelona,Chelsea e.t.c usually pay even more than 35 million pounds to buy just one player and strengthen their squads yet Arsenal has a lot of money itself and is also supported financially by some of its shareholders who are millionaires and others billionaires.
3.He just says that he wants to sign/buy a certain player but at the end he does not sign/buy him because either; -another club snatches that player and signs him because of Wenger refusing or failing to pay the required/demanded price of that player and another club pays the demanded or even more than the demanded price of that player
-or that player just refusing to go to Arsenal because he thinks Arsenal is not a good club,etc.
So with all the above descriptions,I think one university should recognize Arsene Wenger and award him P.H.D Degree in Economics,be made a professor and then after that he[Wenger] should be called “Professor Wenger of Economics or Professor Wenger the Economiser”.

I’d much rather sign Parker than that trouble maker Barton, could only see it as cover for Song though not first choice. I don’t think 12 million for Samba is a bad price, way better than the stupid prices wanted for Jagielka or Cahill anyway

I just think that for about 20m we could land parker samba and barton which would improve our squad no end. i would then swap nasri for richards and milner and sell cesc to barca for 30m plus affelay leaving us with a nice 10m profit. for me to get 4 england internationals a beast of an epl centre back and a tricky dutch winger whilst turning a profit and only losing to sulky wantaways is very good business indeed. we would not even have to sell the likes bendtner eboue diaby squillaci unless we got the right offers.

If the Cesc deal isn’t done by the CL tie then I doubt it will be done this summer. This business of an ‘unhappy’ capatin is irrelevent, Barca will want him less if he doesn’t continue to shine. Frankly I’m tired of hearing about Cesc’s feelings, he is a well paid professional who signed a contract (including an extesion) of his own free will. If Barca don’t pay, Cesc stays

As much as i would love to criticise the current squad we still have to remember the same team beat All 4 so called big last season until we lost our way in Feb. without Gervinho & CJ. We now have Verminator as good as a new signing for us.
I like to ask you so called Arsenal fans or should i say ‘haters’ why you keep singing the songs of doom to my beloved Arsenal FC.
I strongly believe we need to strengthened to be in with a chance of lifting the EPL trophy come May 2012. It’s not all doom and burst as many might sound. Liverpool with their millions have the worst preseason result so far and you so called ‘fake’ supporters expect Arsenal to finish outside the top 4 worst still relegation.
I am saddened by most of your comments…Lets rally and let all future players be interested in coming to Arsenal Fc and not a club known for his fans booing its own players. It is very hard to find that in any other club. Many big names has fallen in the past but they still have their fans holding their scarve held high and singing the praise of their fallen club. Sad thing is that Wenger shouldn’t even need to be replaced. He probably already has all the players he needs to turn the club around but he has now gone so far down this road he has been on that he has lost touch with reality.
The truth is that between TV, Kos and Djorou he could do work on their defensive side and muster up a decent CB pairing. He could work on pressing teams harder to help with the defensive issues but he won’t do that either. He could work on attacking players being more efficient so that at key moments they decide the outcome and not our defence.
But nope…..let’s just pass the ball in little triangles and until we get dispossessed, counter attacked and a goal behind.
For what? I don’t know because these issues have been around for years but he won’t address them.

Wenger has down well for Arsenal in the past without paying exorbitant prices for players. We play an attractive style if soccer which is something I like. Problem is we need to win constantly being the bridesmaid is no fun. I sincerely hope Wenger is out to make several last minute transfers that will give us the right mix of mettle and experience without changing our style of play but improving it, the killer instinct, last three percent. Anything less then a win in the champions league or EPL is unacceptable and then we might have to change managers and go through the painful rebirth.

Load of nonsense about Samba being £12m if he’s not for sale he’s going for alot more than that. The Mail (Fail) claim they wanted £15m recently. Might aswell go for Cahill or Jags as we could bargain with them more asily.
Seems we’re being linked to so many CB as it is but the only proper bid has been for Jagielka.

I think I’ve finally figured out what Barcelona are doing wrt Fabregas. They are doing the footballing equivalent of maintenance texting. Maintenance texting is when there is a girl you’d like to go out with some day, just not anytime soon. So you send them a text message every once in a while to remind them you exist every now an then, sort of a low level way to maintain a connection without raising expectations too much. That’s what’s happening with Fabregas. They know they might want to sign him one day but they know they can’t afford his fee or his wages today. So every once in a while they say something in the press to remind Fab that they still want him one day, keep him from signing anywhere else, but they dare not make anything like a reasonable bid, on the off chance that it might actually be accepted, just like you never suggest to the maintenance text girl that you two should meet, until you are ready.

What’s is wrong with Barca, if they realy want Fabregas, they should cough out good money or do they want him for free?. I think wenger should not play Cesc for the U.c.l playoff so he will not be cup tied. Fabregas has paid his due for arsenal f.c, so let him go. There is no point keeping a player who does not want to play for u, he said that openly, showed it last season against barca by giving away the ball that lead to the winning go. U can force a horse to the stream, but u cant force it to drink want. Arsenal be warned. For Bentner and any other arsenal players going on loan or signing out, wenger should send them out of England i mean E.p.l, cos if they remain in the e.p.l, they will come back to hurt arsenal. Cos u they have extra strength/motivation playing against ur formal club.

Fully support Wenger on threatening to play Cesc that he is cuptied and therefore of no value to Barca in Europe. I reckon even if the deal does not go through (but suspect it will at GBP 40M), Arsene should strip Cesc of the captaincy as he is no good for morale, and relegate Cesc to the bench. We need players with heart – Cesc ain’t got it.

Buy Parker, put him in wilsheres place, push wilshere into fabregas role and then sell fabregas, imediatly buy a couple of defenders (1 centre back, 1 left back)! Add one more midfielder and push walcott into a central position to be another goal poacher
