Arsenal rumours Aug 1st – Jagielka, Jarvis, Mata, Fabregas and Thierry Henry!
The last month of the transfer window begins with some surprising Arsenal transfer news. It has already been confirmed that the Gunners have made an official opening bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka, and his defensive partner at Goodison Park, Leighton Baines, is not surprised that Wenger is keen on “Jagas”.
He said: “It’s not a surprise to me that a top club would want a player like Phil because he’s fantastic.
“He’s one of the top three or four defenders that the country’s got. It’s no surprise. But we’d like to hold on to him if we can.”
It will be interesting to see if Wenger will go the extra mile to get Jagielka after refusing to pay over the odds for Gary Cahill or Christopher Samba…..
The biggest surprise is the news that Wenger is keen on the Wolves winger Matt Jarvis. The Mail reckons that Wenger has sent his scouts to check out the England international, but with the arrival of Gervinho and hopefully a work permit for Ryo Miyaichi, I would be very surprised if Wenger wanted to bring in yet another winger this summer.
Everyone keeps reporting that Arsenal are very close to paying £17m for Juan Mata, and our very own Jack Wilshere believes the Spaniard would fit in well at the Emirates. Jack said: “He is a top quality player, we’ve seen that in the Under-21′s and in the Spanish league last season. I think the way Arsenal play would suit his game.”
I was lucky enough to be in a box at the Emirates yesterday and the rumours were rife before the game that Thierry Henry would be transferred to Arsenal for 45 minutes, which was then cut to 10 minutes as the game approached. But the referee totally refused to allow Henry to play for both teams no matter if everyone wanted it to happen.
Wenger himself made a personal approach to the match official to try and get him to change his mind. Wenger said afterwards: “The surprise was that we wanted him to play in the last five minutes for us.
“Henry was desperate to do it, but the referees stubbornly turned it down. I went in to see the referee at half time to ask him to allow him to play for us but they told us that the rules are absolutely, adamantly against it because one given player cannot play for two teams in the same game. That was the surprise!”
Bloody jobsworth officials spoiling everyone’s chance to see our hero in an Arsenal shirt one last time. Typical I guess……
As a last mention, I spoke to an Arsenal official (Thanks Adam!) at the game and asked what was happening with Cesc Fabregas, and he gave me the official inside informaion. It was “If Barcelona match Arsenal’s price, then Fabregas will go.”

Everyone is over-hyped with news of mata arrival,but remember he is only 21 and would take time to settle in(if the deal happens)..Rosicky had an excellent first half against bulls but was dreadful in the second half. His form would be crucial for us this season.Eventually if Wenger fails to sign anyone we have to rely on him considering nasri and fabregas situation.
Jarvis link is pointless, we have enough wingers..2 weeks for the start of the season, this has to be the week of transfers.

Arsenal your game is still very low to win trophies,your defense is very weak and porous.Defense you need to buy people like[not necessarily all of these but most of them]; Gary Cahill,Scott Dann, Jose Enrique,Jagielka,Luke Young,Brede Hangeland,Stephen Warnock, Brede Hangeland,Titus Bramble,Ward,Zubar,Elokobi etc.Also midfield is also weak

we are tired of trophyless seasons, Wenger needs to bring in experienced defenders leaving Traore, Squillaci and should get immediate person to take over Clichy’s position. Gervhino alone can’t help RVP and more good strikers are to be brought in for Arsenal to score many goals. Each position should atleast have two or more players to stop complains of because of injuries and wait for next season………..

Two African signings and a couple of youngsters wont cut the mustard in an increasingly competitive league. We’ve had Spurs biting at our heels for the past 6 years and now a new super threat in Man city looks likely to leave us for dead in the stakes. It’s time to offload Cesc to Barca and replenish the squad with proven homegrown and foreign talent. It’s high time Msr. Wenger took his game out of the boardroom and begin to realise the true spirit of the game on the field. Football exists as a competition to pit two opponents against one another for a victor to emerge glorious. Board room jargon, economical buzz words, ineffective youth policies are symptomatic of the stubborn ego of a fading genius. We know you have the money Arsene so take a little risk and fucking spend it. the arsenal ship is sinking but captain wenger is sitting on the deck refusing to act.2 years ago the engineers were telling him that there is a hole in the stern and left unattended it would get much worse. Captain wenger patched it up eventually with some cheap french lumps but the problem only got worse. Failing to reach the expected destination in may 2011, wenger announced that the hole would be fixed soon with some tall lumps and he would be very busy acquiring those lumps.However no new tall quality lumps were in place when a new destination was commenced in august 2011 but in the first easy miles from shore the ship was once again taking on water. people on board started to scream and boo at the captain, but he shrugged his shoulders, glanced up from reading “the economist” and said..”we are only a few miles into our journey we are experiencing some problems but its not serious,,,we are in friendly waters….we have a good defense against this type of thing”.
2 mutineers that wanted to jump ship ages ago are looking at the hole in bewilderment as the trusty ships of ss barca and manutd are sailing close -by just in case the ss titanicwenger should sink.Some of the passengers are arguing amongst themselves..the captains table are angry that the captain’s ability is even being questioned whilst the others are angry that their beloved unsinkable ship ss adams has been allowed to rot and be renamed ss titanicwenger.

I think this is getting frustrating. Everyday we login to see about our team arsenal transfers and nothing is happening apart from the romours.WE NEED TO SIGN QUALITY PLAYERS NOW.We have seen that the team has weaknesses what is AW waiting for.Please lets us have some pride this season by winning silverware its really getting frustrating.

I was only on this forum yesterday defending arsene. Well more fool me. This Mata issue is last straw. Mata was a bargain. Who cares about fab money, even if el capitan stays, what’s wrong with having both? That’s the difference between the mancs and chelsea, and us, they have world class in reserve. Why can’t we? We apparently got the funds. So looks like our big splash in transfer market will be newcastles cast off and one from mighty wolves! Never mind, at least he has experience of a relegation battle, will come in handy in a season or two, in the days when we no longer have cesc, samir, wilshere or rvp. Arsenal are the new Leeds! Well thanks for some fantastic football over the years arsene, shame it looks like its coming to an end.

Wenger promised fans that he would be busy at the end of July
but but we are now 3 days old after the end of the month without any other good signing apart from gervinho and may be kerl jenkinson at the end dont be surprised to see wenger not bringing in any quality at arsenal.wenger seems not to be knowing how much it hurt fans after arsenal losing a game or games. the earlier the better, sell fabregas and we fund other players we need to start early preparation for the new season. why do you want to only sign players at the trnsfer deadline? i think i if wenger cannot cool down the temper of the fans, he needs just to retire, otherwise we are fans with motivations .bye.
