Arsenal Rumours Aug 26th – Cisse, Akanbi, Rosicky & Traore

Posted on August 26, 2011 by admin

There is now less than a week to go before the transfer window closes and there is still no news on any new permanent signings for the Arsenal. We have plenty more rumours to report though and the first of those surrounds striker Papiss Demba Cisse.

Cisse plays for Frieburg in the Bundesliga and he has already scored four goals in three games this season, but his goals have only helped his team earn a solitary point leaving Frieburg in 17th place.

Arsenal face stiff competition from Everton who are also desperate to add some new faces to their squad before the transfer window closes. A report on talkSPORT this morning suggests that Cisse could be available for as little as £13.5million and Cisse has been speaking to the press about playing in England. He said, “I have a contract with Freiburg but I want to play at the highest level. The Premier League is a big league and I want to leave.”

He would be an ideal partner for van Persie, and Arsenal is a far bigger draw then Everton, but with time running out the Gunners will have to be quick if they are serious about signing him.

Another striker that could be on his way to the Emirates is 17 year-old Nigerian Morenikeji Taofeek Akanbi who plays for Crown FC in the Nigerian Premier League. Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing the youngster to England, who has attracted interest from a number of other Premier League clubs.

An unnamed source close to Arsenal has said, “He’s highly regarded by the Arsenal manager. So that’s why he’s one of the numerous youngsters being watched by Arsenal across the world. Akanbi is very talented and has a lot of prospect to be a very good striker in the future. But we have been told not to rush him so we will be watching.”

Another player for the future is great as these are the players that hold the key to the future of the football club, but I don’t think signing another teenager will go down well at the moment do you?

There are also breaking stories this morning surrounding two players who could be on their way out of Arsenal. The first of those is Tomas Rosicky who is attracting the attention of Wolfsburg.

His agent has been in Germany and been in contact with the club, but I doubt Arsene Wenger would let him leave especially after his excellent performance in the second half against Udinese on Wednesday evening. With suspensions kicking in this weekend Rosicky, despite being injury prone, could play an important part this season, so personally I think that this move is a non starter, but we will see.

Finally the other player who could be on the way is Armand Traore with a move across London to Queens Park Rangers being mentioned. Traore was on loan at Juventus last season and has had a loan spell with Portsmouth before that.

If Traore goes, and according to the Daily Mirror a deal has been struck, you have to think that Arsenal have a defender lined up to replace him. Gary Cahill perhaps? Scott Dann even? As the D.Ream song goes ‘Things can only get better’……….

    ok here it goes
If i were king for the day(Arsen)
First off our defender shortage is crying out to be addressed and offering 6 mil for Cahill doesnt help to smooth the way to a deal before the Man U game!
Its clear that Cahill and Dann or Cahill and The German lad plus Baines would not only be the answer but would bring Arsenal back from the brink! Remember boring borin Arsenal chants coz we were as tight as a drum at the back but were not all that exciting going fwd? Well weve not got that problem going Fwd now so stop counting the coin Arsen and pull the trigger on these deals garanteed to close the mouths of your critics
On a adding steel to the midfield Scott Parker is a no brainer for me and maybe the Catermerol lad although he has a problem staying on the field and we already see enough red cards as it is?
Creative flair short term answer Arteta and has everyone forgot goucfon is that butchering his name badly hope you all know who i mean or in lnler havent heard much on this guy latley?
    Strickers missed out on Etto!
    Doyle is averge
Sow and Cisse would be a great pair to reel in at around 25-30 mil for both what a shocker and it prolongs Van persies career as we rotate them and also use Theo there as well
Last but not least we must address any contracts coming up and not get in this mess again way to much drama!
Wenger needs to have huge say in who is bought but maybe he gives a shortlist and then we have a closer take it from there we must become ruthless or risk years in mid table obscurity!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. 5days to the closure of the TM and no new signings? our first team is good but their replacements are not that appealing, some of our first team members should be serving serving as replacements the likes of gibbs, ramsey and walcott. They are all good players but not up to the task yet so players are needed desperately. sign payers or leave wenger!!!!!!

We can all dream but the possible real truth is, we will sign no one. I have spent the last two plus months, listening to Talksport every day(why is it, when I turn Talksport on, there are always adverts being played?)in the hope that I’ll hear that magic words, today Arsenal have signed……but all I hear is ManU,Chelsea,ManCity and Liverpool have just spent Trillions of pounds, on new players. Please Mr Wenger, don’t tell us that we do not need to sign anyone, as the squad is strong enough already, especially when we have been selling like crazy. We did so well in the Champions League but we cannot be so naive to believe that all these players will remain fit and not get any Red Cards during the next 12 months. If we do not strengthen the squad, we can kiss the Champions League goodbye, after 15 glorious? years. A desperate Arsenal fan, who’s starting to lose sleep.

Papiss Cisse is very good, I only fear if he’ s capable playing in the PL from bundesliga… Anyway, he cant be worse than Chamakh….

Traore is treated unfairly I think… he deserves a chance…

Wenger should forget about getting teenagers for now and get real experienced defenders and midfielders..we have the money, the players are there in the market..we need to win trophies and shut our rivals up…I cannot imagine us failing to land a trophy again this season..let’s spend this money…let’s buy players and let’s win trophies this season and be happy again..

Sign henry, bergkamp, vieira, tony adams LOL!! Let’s live for today, that is frimpong, vermaelen, rosicky, van persie, ramsey, oxlade chamberlain, etc. If unknown player like henry can be the king of highburry, why shouldn’t gervinho be the king of emirates.
Cheers up everybody, enjoy the game, give your support, and hope for the best. I believe our current squad is way better than manure”s youngster.

  13. Ahmet says:

Inler has transferred from Udinese to Napoli.

If we have roughly £80mil to spend assuming that will also include signing on fees + wages, it actually doesn’t go too far.

Best strategy for me would be to buy solid prem performers now slightly cheaper and look to add top quality next summer!

I’m thinking Arteta at £20mil including sign on + wages etc.

Cahill is one we’re trying to hold Bolton to ransom on because of his contract situation, so more likely a deal for around the £10mil mark with another £5mil on sign on + wages.

Jagielka for another £12mil only as Everton are still to sell Yobo to Fenberbahce as they maybe relegated for match fixing as well as being chucked out of the champions league and so they don’t have money to spend on a new striker which they seem desperate for. + £3mil on sign on wages.

That already takes us to £60mil mark, hence we’re apparently only asking for a loan deal on Kaka etc.

Wenger must have Leighton Baines lined up too if he is prepared to let Traore go to QPR. I believe that would cost another £15mil + £5mil in wages + signing on.

There’s £80mil gone already and no more money for Parker, Dann, Samba!! However, you would get 4 solid players and allow the younger players such as Ramsey, Gibbs, Djourou, SCZY and Frimpong at our club already the chance to play alongside seasoned professionals and blossom into the world class talents we all hope they will become!

Hazard is the only abseentee which would take the place of Arteta, however I think if Arsene gets him, he would more likely spend at least £10mil more on him, therefore rule out either the purchase of Cahill or Jagielka, if not end up keeping Traore as he won’t be able to buy another left-back.

Good luck Arsene and all of Arsenal!!

Keeping my fingers crossed that other teams with deep pockets don’t snap up our targets with big cash at the last minute!!

Ahmet – Finally someone talking sense. It’s not as easy as “we have £80mil, and that’s it!”. What people need to realise is how far ahead of the game those clubs with the cash really are. They can afford the £30+ mil for a player “+” the extra cash on top to make things happen. Hence Man City are buying up. They have a lot more than £80mil. They Have £400mil. That’s why we have to be wise with our cash.

Also – it’s very smart of AW to buy these young guys. They = the cash we will need in coming years, as we sell them (like Fabregas & Nasri) to keep the ability to actually keep the machine going. Unless we get a “Stupid money” deal happening for some sort of sponsorship, this is the smart way to do things. Albeit it is a little painful to watch the process, and makes you wish a wealthy Arab could fund the dream team.

Long live Arsenal! May we win trophies sooner (but most likely a little later).
