Arsenal Rumours Aug 27th – Elia, Cisse, Cahill & Schweinsteiger
Sorry to bore you with more transfer rumours, but with just five days remaining in the current transfer window rumours are all there is when it comes to Arsenal signing any new players, but then we are used to that are we not!
Dutch International Eljero Elia is a winger who currently plays for Hamburg in the Bundesliga, and a report in today’s Daily Mail says that he is the latest target for Arsenal.
Elia, 24, started his career at ADO Den Haag before moving on to FC Twente, before moving to his current club Hamburg two years ago. He also played for Holland at the World Cup last year and has scored two goals in his 22 appearances for the national team.
Yesterday we brought you the news about Papiss Demba Cisse who said he would love the chance to play in the Premier League. Well on the back of that news the Freiburg chairman has come out and said, “We have received three concrete offers for the services of Papiss Demba Cisse. All three are from clubs in foreign leagues. We are going to consider these offers calmly, but this doesn’t necessarily mean we are definitely going to sell him.”
Not sure about either of these two transfers happening, but we seem to say that about everybody that is linked with Arsenal don’t we. We will have to remain patient, at least until after tomorrows game against Manchester United.
The Whole story surrounding Gary Cahill is fast becoming a joke, but there are a couple of positives to come out of it all. Can you see anyone else in for him? No neither can I. Secondly he is out of contract at the end of the season and surely Arsenal’s opening bid regardless of how low it was, was just that, an opening bid to test the water.
I guess the transfer now depends on whether Arsene Wenger calms down after his rant last evening and is prepared to do business with Bolton. Bolton are at least open to offers so that says to me they are prepared to sell. At least this transfer could happen, but again more patience is needed.
Another player that has been getting his fair share of column inches of late is Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger. Yes he is cup-tied for the Champions League, but if he was prepared to move to Arsenal, and he has again been linked with a possible move, surely we should welcome players like him. He is only 27 and has some good years left in him. A bargain at £30million in today’s market.
Out of the four players mentioned today I believe we will sign one of them, with that player being Gary Cahill. Opinions are what makes football such a great game and I guess and I am just voicing mine. We would all jump at the chance to be manager for a day and go and buy this player and that player, but in reality is it really that easy. Personally I don’t think it is. Keep the faith and in four months time when the next transfer window is about to open we will probably be going through this all over again!

it also said Eljero Elia has been told by his club to sharpen up and get better! if he cant get into the hamburg team why does arsenal want him!!
i wish arsene could of been a bit more profesional with the cahill bid so we had him ready for old trafford could of even played him midfield to cover song/frimpong

what about vertonghen? yes, cup-tied for the CL but more promising than Cahill. Btw if Cahill really wanted to come to the Arsenal, he could easily twist Bolton’s arm (as we all know players with 1 year on their contract left do …)

i think there deals being done as i write.but wenger won’t unsettle players by announcing it as usual .. Arsene has always been a late bloomer regarding transfers..
Its now not all about keeping faith but having patience..
I don’t know what pray out of Utd game — a good result for us means wenger would be happy with current squad and may add only a defender..
i dont’t want us to loose against utd else i would asked for a bad result.thats out of question..on any day we would love to defeat utd at trafford..
A draw would lead us to nowhere…

Admin – agree with your last statement whole heartedly! Everyone wants to be manager, but there is a good reason why this job is done by one man – it’s bloody hard. (Like everyone wld love to be an astronaut, but very few people are capable).
Hopefully we sign a couple in this window, build with what we have for the next 4 months, then pursue the players we want by Jan. That would mean we have a strong chance for the end of the EPL season, and who knows, maybe it won’t be such a bad years for us.
Lets face it, every year we start off strong, and everyone is saying “we have a chance this year!”. Maybe what we need is a weaker start with a very strong finish at the end. (Just trying to remain optimistic instead of seeing the glass half empty). We aren’t a crap club in a terrible position. We are a great club with challenges ahead of us, and hopefully a smart one that can overcome them.
Long live the Gunners!

Neither has Wenger Lost the plot… nor are we in Doldrums ….. we all are in panic mode .. just play the wait and watch game guys… trust in our professor and fingers crossed for moments of luck this season… opposite to miquel/ramsey own goal …ch33rs to a rosicky comeback…ch33rs to RVP starting the season…and not killing gervinho with hopes as happened with chamakh… ch33rs to capello vs walcott saga …. ch33rs to great keeper after Lehmann/seaman ….ch33rs to a great season in offering….

Elvi – at least you have covered all bases. (sarcasm). You have contributed nothing … in which case – don’t say anything, and go elsewhere.

“I guess the transfer now depends on whether Arsene Wenger calms down after his rant last evening”
Did you watch the interview Wenger was calm and laughing about the situation. The media have twisted the layout of the words to present a angry out of control manager.
Wenger has promised to buy player so he probaly will so stop complaining.
Ps remember arsene knows best

Cant see any-more signings coming in hope i am wrong but why could the business not have been done in the last two days?
QPR want Barton and the deal is done. Just think the bid for Cahill was to appease the fans and not a serious one as normal the board will pocket the money and continue with there policy of profit before trophy’s

All these “offers” for players are simply “smoke screens” to make it look like, they are trying to get someone in. If the reports of a £6million bid for Cahill is correct, this just goes to prove that Arsenal are not serious about strengthening the squad. I hope I am entirely wrong as I want to be challenging for trophies but my gut feel is that no one will come in and after Sunday, we’ll be close to the bottom of the league. Next season will see Walcott,Van Persie and Jack Wiltshire all wanting to go to a club with ambition. Pray God I’m wrong.Signed “Too Many sleepless nights worrying about Arsenal”

Can’t say I’ve seen him recently but I remember seeing Elia at the World Cup and being very impressed by him. I thought he was a stand out for the Dutch in that tournament, though he didn’t get too much attention. I’d love to see him come to Arsenal.

please give me strength
we have a major clock ticking were on a schedule that doesnt allow for a courtship?
Arsen has his targets and their back ups ect
If he doesnt then he should be out of a job !
The fact is that everyone else is looking over the garden fence to see what Arsen is doing?
We need a majestic creative midfield talent this is a major task as all will be measured against Cesc?
We dont need a Cesc we need a gifted playmaker and trust me wenger has already done the home work just sit back and wait,if im wrong Wenger needs to be gone before 2013 season start!
Next we desperatley need a central defender all the same things apply from the above comments but after watching the Liv Vs Bolton I can tell you Cahill isnt the guy his mobility is in question to me! He does read the game quiet well, but his first 10 yrds isnt quick enough to go stride for stride with the best strickers in the game, this is why their is a hold up
Phil Jagyelka has more strings to his bow and wenger knows it all others are a second choices.
I applaude the Park signing if he pulls another like Cisse out or Sow we will be loaded and ready to shock some people and I really feel that is going to happen the other shoe is just about to drop ad wenger will have the last laugh.

Hey admin bloke – great job on keeping us all upto date on the transfer rumours – I look nowhere else. 100% agree on your thoughts on Cahill – We’ll get him and at a lower price than Bolton want. I’d rather him on a free and spend the money elsewhere than pay way over the odds. £10 mill is still a lot of money and I reckon we’ll get him for close to that. Put yourself in Boltons shoes as there’s always two sides to a negotiation – and they definitely want to sell. If they don’t do a deal he walks for nothing – so they are getting desperate too. Arsene knows!

Hi, nice piece on a good blog,
I think Bastian is optimistic to say the least, great player – fantastic player, but settled in Germany at another top top club with big ambitions.
Fully expect Cahill to be in an Arsenal shirt by the deadline, I think in terms of centre back right now he is realistically the best option. In the January window Wenger would do well to recruit additional support, someone promising but with real experience, for instance Mats Hummels.
Arsenal’s position is no desperate or in ‘crises’, just a difficult transitional stage. Rosicky seems to me to be a crucial player for the next few months. Being a central playmaker is his bread and butter, something he does for his national team and pre-Arsenal at Prague and Dortmund. Initial signs are good, he was very influential in the second half of the Udinese match, disrupting their midfield movements and distributing the ball well.
Common Gooners supports the team, in Wenger I certainly trust, the only standards he is currently failing to meet are the ones he himself has set over the last decade and a half.

hi
Don’t rally blame wenger for not buying players as everyone know that we have money in the bank after nasri and fabrecas sales. His just going to reach to his pockets and promote within ranks. Frimpong looks awesome, haven’t seen such tank in midfield for arsenal for years. I think sunday we will shock manu and win 1-0. Don’t quite know who there would be for arsenal if wenger would be sacked as bookies predict…

Al in al we love arsenal fc whether 2invest, Fabcash or not, what we need iz the dream team. Which brings trophies, profits, & makes its fans healthier living esp, free from heart dses. Only thing i say is that when u assemble,Arsenal there are == Admn, money, players, ground, fans&sponsors! Al these apartments, must work for victory!!! But our engine in the list must directly, predispose the success! Lets make the Emirates the home of champions and no.1 attractive place for all gunners in the world. Goodday, shoot out Mutd.

i predicted that utd wiil slaugther arsenal.. well the whole world saw that to day
so where are we going with arsene.. nowhere.. to rub it in
we do not deserve to play in cpl in europe..
furthermore ..arsene has no respect for the skill or quality of barca or man utd and now one can add city
also , even if he signs a top player..which i doubt..because his promises have massive gaps in it.. will not make arsenal the great team that he built 5 years ago
i doubt that we will even have 10 pts by the tenth game
this man is going to ruin arsenal
look it from another anno top clas glass gk..no solid or even graet backline for 5 years …no decent strike force for 5 years
trying to make denilson and ramsey a fabregas..rosickly and sagna deadwood..yet thay play all the time..no lessons for fripomg..
cahill, samba jagielka… mediocre.. what have they do for the clubs.. only fight every for survival
if no world class players like maicon luciano ..lucien ..snijder ..stelekelburg.. silva..senna… muller …sweinstigier,, meshtieker..nyemar… xabi villa .. pique.. van der vaart
it will will be no different this year.. we cannot complete..just playing to to fill the fixtures..why..
wenger has become the financil director ..earning arsenal money..not winning and continue wiining on the pitch
he sas take over someone else job at the club
going nowhere,,slowly ..losw..fast..faster
