Arsenal rumours Aug 2nd – Bendtner, Kovacic, Nasri, Jamie Edge – and Mata still on
The usual talk of Arsenal’s youngster’s coping with a “rainy Tuesday night in Stoke” could take on a new dimension this coming season as it has been revealed this morning that Nicklas Bendtner’s agents have been talking to Tony Pulis abut a move to the Britannia stadium.
The Mirror reckons that Stoke are willing to pay a club record £9m for the big Dane, who could get his wish of playing regular first-team football as a classic centre-forward for the Potters. I would prefer Bendtner to move abroad myself as he may come back to bite Arsenal in the arse if he stays in the Premiership…..
It is also being reported that Man City are set to make an “imminent” £22m opening bid for Samir Nasri, and the Moneybags are willing to double the French international’s present wages if he moves to the Eastlands. But surely this one is only likely to happen if Arsenal can get Juan Mata to come at the same time.
It was reported yesterday that the deal for Mata could have been dead and buried, but the Mirror reckons that the exit-clause deadline will not be a problem as the player himself is very keen on making the move to the Emirates. I will not be the only Arsenal Fan hoping that this is true……
Another youngster that has been linked with Arsenal for some time; the Croatian Mateo Kovacic; has been in demand across Europe since making his debut for Dynamo Zagreb last season, but Zagreb’s Sporting Director Zoran Mamić has announced that the Gunners have stepped back from their interest as they refuse to join in a bidding war that could start at around £10m.
Mamić said: “A few days ago I talked with some of my friends from Arsenal. I told them Mateo Kovacic is in good form, that he is playing well. They say that Arsenal can’t join this ‘dance of millions’ for him.”
It would seem that all this “wonder kid” stuff isn’t all its cracked up to be. After selling JET for just £1m last week, it has just been announced that Arsenal are releasing the 17 year-old Jamie Edge, who arrived with such fanfare from Cheltenham a couple of years ago.
After playing just one game for the reserves it seems he will NOT be the best thing since sliced bread and will be allowed to move on for nothing. I guess that is the fate of most “wonder kids” nowadays…..

I wouldn’t mind seeing Nasri go. He had a really good period at the end of the 2009/ 2010 season followed up by a strong start to 2010/ 2011. This has been when Fabregas is out however so if the Fabregas deal falls through. I believe Nasri being sold to fund a move for Juan Mata would be a wise decision as he isn’t as effective out wide.
He also appears to have his heart set on a move away and I just can’t see him performing well and he could possibly sulk hurting performances of the team and wasting 20 million.

Mode’s comment advocating a permanent move for Denilson is one which really gets on my wick. Here we have a young guy who will cost us nothing for a season, at the end of which he will return, POSSIBLY a far better player….to our clear advantage. If he is no better, we are no worse off.
Yet pillocks like Mode still put the boot in and look on the black side. No second chances for Denilson regardless of how he performs next season. I hope Mode doesn’t consider himself to be a true Arsenal supporter because he isn’t.

AW should just be decisive enough and release Nasri and Fab, then use the funds to bring in Mata, Jaga, Cahill and one very good goalkeeper, period!
If this cannot happen, then let Wenger just quit so that we can engage another manager who can bring in trophies and more glory to Emirates.

I must say that John-John-John and I HAVE watched Arsenal playing the most attractive football for some years now. The trouble is, it’s accompanied by sloppy play which often costs us the points. Since the 1930′s when I first became a Gooner, Arsenal have always been noted for clutching defeat out of victory and vice versa. That is why we fans cannot be fainthearted in our support.
The day will come when defence, midfield and attack will start to blend…..hey! it could be next term and then watch us go!!!

If he had conducted his transfer business as well as sorted out the future of fabregas and nasri earlier, things would have gone different!!
1) Now EVERY CLUB knows how weak our defence is and how desperate arsenal is to cover this area. So AW can expect to pay a premium for a defender unless he picks a kid off the street (which is what he always does anyways)!
2) I read that Arsenal had a bid for juan mata rejected. of course! they know that he will most likely be replacing fabregas and that we will get lots of money for selling him. They want a piece of that pie!!
In short, AW is a real joke of a manager and so are all the AKBs who STILL support him. Now, since we have yet again left the transfer dealings late UNLIKE MAN UTD and other teams, AW and the board can expect to spend more money instead of saving!! Idiots!

The way we do business in sourcing one or two center back is just like the way we play. We pass a lot but never shoot, always wait for the correct moment. In CB search, we were linked with lots of players like Garry Cahill, Samba, Sakho, Vertoughen, Metersacker, Jagielka, Scott Dann (yes, we even a player from a team who had been relegated), but at the end, we sign no one. Wenger already said he is happy with the partnership between Vermaleen and Koscielny. So the fans better hope that these 2 CB will NEVER get injured and their form will NEVER drop.
I am not sure why we still hang on to Nasri. If the reason he is staying is because he wants to see that we can challenge for the title and Wenger knows about it, then what is Wenger doing in the transfer market?
As for Fabregas, where is our credibility? When we said last Sunday as the final day to close the deal for Barca, didn’t we mean that? Why drag on this one until Juan Mata’s price increase? At the end, Fab will go to Barca and we won’t sign Juan Mata because 28 million is impossible for us.
And why players like Eboue, Bendtner, Almunia, Diably (speaking of Diably, good news for Frimpong that Diably is out for 10 weeks and may be good news for us also), Rosicky, Squilacci and Denilson still on our pay sheet? Come on, we are not trying hard enough to offload these deadwood.
If this is the best way we do business, then whoever dealing with other club better leave unless they are so thick skin to stay around.
Wenger can say whatever he wants about friendly matches in Emirates Cup, but when MC can finish off Inter and MU can finish off Barca in a friendly match, then why aren’t we serious in our own cup? And look at Boca Junior, are they a long ball team, no, so what Wenger wants to say now when we conceed 2 goals from them?
Actually Wenger had not been very successful in bringing in defenders especially center back. Look at Cygan, Senderos, Djourou, Silvestre, Gallas, Squilacci. Which one of these had been successful like Rio Ferdinand and John Terry? Even Sol Campbell was brought in because Dein had the guts to pay more to get Sol, if it was the rest (may be some finance guy who count every penny had some strong say in the transfer), we wouldn’t see Campbell also. As for Vermaleen, he is starting to establish himself but not until the level of Rio Ferdinand’s reputation yet.
To make things worse for Wenger, today he is having a tough time to find another Henry, Pires, Vieira, Ljunberg also.
Wenger, if you kept on failing and continue to fail after 7 season and perhaps if your extreme youth policy were to continue to fail us, either you change the policy to be a balance mix between youth and experience, else, perhaps it is a good time to leave while we can still remember that you brought us the invincible era.

keep Nasri, and give him a central atacking role in the midfield, (an easy replacement for Fabrigas) great in the middle and would be fantastic beside ramsey and wilshire (for all the hype, wilshire couldnt hit the broad side of a barn last year and was almost afraid to finish!) his other skills are awesome however .

I read some where that the Mata deal was a failure because the release clause was about 17.5 million and we only offered 14 million. We even did that some where near the last day of his release clause expiry date. Come on, please tell me this is not a method to commit suicide.
Whoever involved in the deal is a joke. What are these idiots trying to do? Repeat the time wasting tactic like the one we did for Jagielka, 10 million then 12 million then 15 million?
Do we have time to play with this kind of trick after knowing the expiry date of the release clause?
Before we can get rid of those deadwood players, can we get rid of these people who kept on causing deal to collapse with their funny strict evaluation on player’s price?
It is not the players who are killing us now, it is these bunch of idiots who only sign players base on the $$ on the paper instead of performance on the pitch. I am not sure if we can blame players like Squilacci any more. We could have sign Samba for about 10 million but we choose to sign Squilacci for 6 million. This mean we look at the $$ more than the quality on the pitch. Looking back at Squilacci’s performance, it is better than we just play anyone at center rather than spending the money to sign him. The same goes to players like Diably, Eboue, Rosicky, Almunia, Djourou etc. We simply pay peanut and we got moneky, simple as that.

I was so mad when I saw the Mata deal had fallen through! But to be honest we should all be used to it by now. Year after year we are linked with fantastic players and end up with unknown no bodies. AW wake up the policy isn’t working!!!!! We wont qualify for the CL if we do not improve this squad, let alone win anything. One thing that should be made clear is that, over the years Arsene Wenger’s policy of recycling has failed and made the team played for six consecutive seasons without a silverware. It is absolutely crazy to keep clinging to the policy.
If the executive means well for the team and above all have sympathy for the fans and supporters as well they should desist from such madness. Get players who have the acumen to do the right job, without this, Arsenal should be set to run again for the seventh year trophy free. The play off against Bayern Munich is going to be a litmus paper test. I know Wenger is only playing around time.

I have been looking online and reading newspapers for the past couple of weeks looking to see if Arsenal has signed anymore players but yet still they have only signed 2 players. It takes the piss, I dont care what anyone says about the true Arsenal way, the club needs to win trophies that is the whole point in competing in the sport. It’s lovely playing nice football and giving young kids a chance but the whole point of football is to be comeptitive and ultimately win otherwise what’s the point? Arsenal might as well just be an exhibition team showcasing the way they play football.
Now to the point Arsenal should have just signed Samba, Cahil, Jaga and Mata and then worried about Cesc and Nasri after, it is absoultely ridiculous that they are trying to bargain shop for players at the same time as not buy any players unless another team buys their player. Some may argue its not as simple as that but this one season Arsenal should just spend money whether that be from the borad of directors own pockets and strengthen the team. Its just stubborn for a football manager to highlight a weakness in his team and not do anything about it because he also believes its ridiculous to spend too much money on players. Barca are in a position to bargain hunt because even if they dont get to buy a player (i.e. Fabregas) its not going to impact their team greatly whereas Arsenal are not in that position and therefore should not be holding out they should just buy and then it doesnt matter as much what happens to Fab and Nas as you would already have replacements at the club
