Arsenal rumours Jan 26th – Lewis Dunk, Theo Walcott, Douglas and Draxler

Posted on January 26, 2012 by admin

Most Arsenal fans are resigned to the fact that Arsene will not be buying any more players in January, despite the massive injury list at the Emirates, but that doesn’t stop the Arsenal transfer rumours popping up all over the place.

The one I like the best is the rumour that Wenger has been sending scouts to watch the 6ft 4in Brazilian defender Douglas who plays for FC Twente in Holland. He is out of contract in the summer so is currently free to talk to Arsenal about a pre-contract for the summer. He looks pretty good and will certainly be value for money, which is why I can believe Arsenal’s interest….

Another defender being linked with Arsenal is the young Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, who is having a good season in the Championship. He is also 6ft 4in and his contract runs out in 18 months. This could be another live one for Wenger in the summer as he could be an added home-grown player for the squad……

Theo Walcott also only has 18 months on his contract, and there are many Arsenal fans that would not complain if he moved on in the summer. He has repeatedly been linked with a move to Italy, but the latest transfer news says that Carlo Ancelotti’s PSG are keen on taking him to France. He would probably do better in Ligue 1 than England. Look at Joe Cole…….

The Schalke youngster Julian Draxler has been linked with Arsenal for a while now, but the Schalke midfielder yesterday revealed that he was happy to learn of interest from Inter Milan and Arsenal, but he is sure he will stay in the Bundesliga for a while longer to mature.

“My agent informed me that Inter have shown interest,” Draxler told Sport Bild. “It’s a great feeling and new for me.

“I am tremendously honoured by such a thing.”

“I’ve also read that Arsenal have interest in me. That made me very happy.”

“I’ve only been a professional for a year and would like to establish myself.

“My heart is here at Schalke, and I do not think for one second about a change, because I see my future at Schalke.

“I didn’t sign until 2016 for nothing.”

So that’s it for today, and we can only hope that we get some juicy Arsenal transfer gossip in the next few days. Wenger may have said he won’t be buying anyone, but are we due another panic-buy or two?

  5. rocky says:

I like Theo, it would be a real shame if he left. Not only on but off the pitch too, he’s a real delegate for this club.

He had a blinding start to last season, scoring goals for fun until he got injured, then the team started falling apart, waved goodbye to some quality players and now like RVP has been left with big responsibility to perform every game, pretty tough… especially when he feels hes playing out of position.

  6. KickuPtheArsene says:

If we do buy – then I am getting a sense of De ja Vu. Does anyone else feel like we are in the last transfer window, but without the £70mil of income generated from the sale of our 2 best players? … On a related note – seems like that £70mil has just vanished into thin air. Smells rotten to me.
    But I don’t believe we’ll buy anyway.

    True Gunner, but quite disillusioned.

  7. Bertie says:

With regards to the “where is the money from the sale of Fab and Nas”…it has more than likely gone into the pot to clear our remaining debt for the stadium build (which has gone down drastically over the past few years). As much as I’d love to see new, big named, big talented players come in, I also want to see our debt self cleared enabling all future income to be spent on players. That’s what I love about Arsenal; being a self maintaining club and not relying on some billionaire wanting to play real life subbuteo. Whenever…wherever…forever…Arsenal!

y not get sesingon (or however u spell it) that guy is tricky as, an attaking midfielder that is energetic and wil provide the spark we hav missed from cesc, na$ri. plus he can score with his head if needed. AT LEAST ONE SIGNING THIS TRANSFER ARSENE!

  10. Steve(Dover Gooner) says:

Would be good if we could a couple of players right now but I wont hold my breath, get rid of Djourou & Squillaci and bring in one quality replacement and promote Miguel. Arshavin, Diaby(never fit),Benayoun, Rosicky & Chamack bring in 2 quality players and promote some of our good youngsters. Needs to be a balance of adding quality and using our very promising youngsters, we are not that far from being real contenders feel that Wenger’s biggest problem is being too stubborn to admit that some of his signings just aren’t good enough?

  12. Big Gun says:

Apparently Eden Hazard was at the Arsenal vs United game. Gervinho had organized tickets for him and his mates before he headed off to the ACON. Perhaps he is considering moving to the Emirates? Looks like AVB has also distanced himself from any bids for the talented Belgium player. But now looks like City have offered a 30m bid? I know it has been a pipe dream for many of us gunners for him to come to Arsenal, but maybe, just maybe Wenger is pulling out all the stops on this one. Hazard still said he would rather go to a prestigious club like Arsenal, United or Liverpool. Come on Wenger lets make this happen. Here’s holding thumbs. With him and possibly Matias Suarez coming in summer, we will have a killer squad. Jack and Sagna will be back. I really really hope this deal goes through!!!

We won’t buy. We have players out on Loan. Bartender and Frimpong, Denilson. We have to make way to buy and I dont see Squillaci, Djourou, Ramsey, Walcott, Arshavin, Almunia, Fabianski, Rosicky, Chamakh with their bags packed…

I am more interested i. which foreign player is not going to be listed or at the.club come wednesday. one has to go my guess is it will be henry! as he is only staying a maximum 3 weeks more and by not listing him for epl matches would only rule him out of blackburn sunderland and bolton. he could still play against milan. unless of course we can convince nyrb to let him stay a bit longer then i reckon it will be one of park squillaci diaby who will be de-listed.

to be totally honest i think there are ways we could improve this seasons squad without spending for example frimpong in for diaby bartley in for squillaci vela in for park even bendtner in for chamakh mannone in for almunia and lansbury in for benayoun. that wpuld give us 5 spaces for foreign players and a little transfer budget if we could sell that dross.

(Wenger said that Henry would replace Mannone who went out on loan – ADMIN)

for RVP TO STAY/SIGN A NEW CONTRACT WE WILL NEED TO BUY BIG SIMPLE AS THAT,THE CLUB NEED TO SHOW SERIOS AMBITION SIMPLE AS THAT…

  20. jdwalcott says:

Pls fellow gunners stop complaining about walcott. The guy is really talented and the fastest in epl at present. He is very good in counter attacking. Its just that he is being played out of position and given too much responsibilities. Remember his magical goal against chelsea?

  21. Nick says:

I don’t want Theo to go but I wouldn’t cry if he left. He’s got pace and occasionally provides some good assists. I think he’s played out of position and if our squad were stronger and Wenger wouldn’t play the formation we do then Theo would flourish. He still needs to work on his first touch, decision making and (provided he is kept on the wing) work on his crosses. He means a lot to Arsenal in terms of his high profile, his England Int’l status, and the fact that he’s one of the few England players on the squad.

We aren’t buying anyone this transfer window. At best we could see 1 loaned in player.

  25. KickuPthearsene says:

Sorry BigGun, Hazard will not be coming.
    1. We won’t pay the asking price
    2. Surely RVP is in line for a pay rise before Hazard gets more money than Hazard (and RVP certainly deserves it too!). I doubt we will pay the wages.
    3. Wenger sell first, then buys. Who have we sold? (Fabregas and Nasri don’t count)
    4. Even though we have money in the kitty, it ain’t going towards the strengthening of our team. And as we are losing quality players, it will then be much harder to attract the cream of the crop when top players weigh up whether to come to Arsenal. Good players (professionals, scientists, musicians, or whoever – at the top of their field) always want to work with other great players. If we don’t have them, then it’s highly likely those we are trying to attract will probably be less interested in us, rather than better equipped teams. Let’s face it, if you were a player, and the choice was us or Barcelona, as a player it’s more probable you would sign to Barca. (Work out where we lie in the pecking order, then apply that rule. Hint- we ain’t at the top).

On an unrelated note – Wenger has stated that rules should be changed to only allow under 21s to be loaded to other clubs in the same league. We have loaned Benayoun, and loaned out Bentner. Is AW a little hypocritical? I’ve really lost hope in Wenger.

douglas is a real classy cb he has strenght, composure, pace, ability to pass, and is a really good tackler he would be available for under 7mill aswell and would force the departure of squillaci and posibly djourou season loan as i feel he needs time to catch up because of his lengthy injury.

another player at twente is luke dejong who is a cf/cam he is also a real gem and would own the am role at arsenal aswell as deputising for rvp he has; vision, strenght, powerful shot and is one of the best in the air in eurpoe and stil in his early twenties

LEAVE THEO WALCOTT ALONE!! He was involved in every single goal we scored against barcelona the last (besides the champions league final 2006). He showed up at stamford bridge! And is 40% of Van Persies success in da last 10 months.

With Edern Hazard on our books ther’ll b no lukin bak.

Will all those players whose contracts are coming to and are available to transfer free, email cv to AFC, fao Arsene Wenger. If players are not upto par more the better as we are collecting these sort of players for AFC. We will try to develop you and sell you for a bundle to clubs who fight for cups and trophies but if this does not happen we will still keep you at our prestigious club because that is what we do, we are a big family.
