Arsenal rumours Jan 5th – Gotze, Reus, Taiwo, Cissoko and Mannone
There are quite a few Arsenal transfer rumours around this morning, but none of them seem to be very good news for the Gunners. To start with, Mario Gotze, who is said to be many people’s idea of the perfect replacement for Cesc Fabregas, has apparently agreed to stay with Borussia Dortmund next season.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said last night: “We have agreed with Mario that he plays next season in Dortmund,”
“He has the contract to 2014 – we have no reason to sell him. But I am not a prophet. If tomorrow someone offers one billion euros, then you should think about it.”
There is little chance of Wenger making any offer like that so it looks like Gooners can give up the dream of having Gotze alongside Jack Wilshere next season……
Marco Reus is another German that has been closely linked with a move to Arsenal, and it has been revealed this morning that the Borussia Moenchengladbach winger has been sold for €17.5m – but Reus will now be joining Mario Gotze at Dortmund!
“It’s very important to me to make clear that this isn’t a decision against ‘Gladbach,” said Reus. “But I decided that I want to take the next step in the coming season and play for a team that challenges for the championship and gives me the guarantee of playing in the Champions League. I see this chance in Dortmund.”
Its a shame he didn’t see that same chance at Arsenal, who coincidentally knocked the Germans out of the Champions League this season….
More bad news for Arsenal fans is that the AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo has scotched any rumours through his agent, Fabio Parisi, who confirmed that Arsene Wenger has not been been in contact.
“At the moment there is no huge news about Nigerian players, with Arsenal there was only a rumour,” Parisi said. “I certainly don’t know that Arsene Wenger is looking for a left-back but at this time there has not been any official offer at AC Milan.”
I would have thought that the whole world knew that Arsenal desperately need a left-back, and Taiwo is certainly a good option. Perhaps Wenger is keeping him in reserve, as there is also Aly Cissoko looking for a move in that position. He has made it clear that he wants to move to the Premier League and wants to talk to Lyon about letting him go.
He said: “This week, I will speak with the Lyon staff. I reckon I prefer England, but for now, there is nothing done.”
So yet another no-go so far on that possibility either! But there is one confirmed bit of Arsenal transfer news today, and that is that Vito Mannone is set to rejoin Hull City for the rest of the season. Hopefully that means that Lukasz Fabianski will not be moving on as well, because there are few Gooners that want Almunia to become the only backup to Szczesny…..

Ahhh noooo… I was all for taiwo on loan… Dam. Once our dline starters return, we need not worry about beinging scored on. Cant wait to see sagna and the verminator back. The only thing Walcott is useful for is collecting the balls as fast as possible that go wide of Scezney from everyone else during training. Hasnt improved since he was 16. Chamberin is just as fast, twice the size and five times more skillful then walcott the weed. just another plank of dead wood in a team that relies purely on RVP upfront and Scezney at the back. Get Wilshire fit, Henry in and bring back Winterburn/Adams/Bould/Dixon while your at it……….!

I’m sick to death of this formation we now seem to play EVERY game! Even at home to relegation candidates! We don’t even have the bloody right players for it for god sake! I mean the two wingers either side of the main striker HAVE to have certain abilities to make this 433 work, good close ball control and excellent dribbling abilities to get in Behind or cut in and make something happen. Walcott and gervinho can not do this! Especially Walcott. His shooting, crossing, control of the ball and creativity are non existant, he leaves the ball behind himself when running with it and gets knocked of the ball if someone in the crowed sneezes! I like him as a player but sure as hell not in the winger position!!! HE IS A STRIKER damn it. We actually have NO real wingers in our squad at all. Arshavin as a left winger??? Oh please give me a break wenger, we bought him on the back of his performances as a second striker, so why the fuck are you persisting on playing him in a wide roll? I just don’t get it at all.

Mr wenger had his chance to purchase players in the summer such as cahill, goetze, samba, hazard, benzema, erikssen and even aguero when stated he wants to leave atletico but he didn’t offer enough money. When we crush on the end of the season who we gonna get in when RVP leave? And is just a matter of time when other players will follow him out of there (wilshere,szesny,song,vermalen)…if he doesn’t spend big in january WE ARE FUCKED

Noooooooo!!! Marco rues gone! To Dortmund! Once again mr wenger lets us down. Wait, maybe i’m being too harsh but i think rues was a great prospect and would hav done exceptionally well at the Emirates. Anyway all the best to him and the Arsenal. I think Arsenal should sign some players(in loan or permanent basis) who can play effectively in more than one position (utility players) so that we can have more options even in critical conditions (see Coquelin – he can play as defensive midfield, right midfield and right back letting us more options.)

26 days left til the end of transfer season and already fans are sticking it to Wenger. Give it time. Transfers rely on an agreement between 3 parties so it’s never easy. Just be patient. All the wheels are in motion already to get signings, just don’t believe everything you read in the tabloids. Most likely we won’t name any official signings until the last few days of the transfer window.
Yes I agree with you guys that a quick acquisition is required and would benefit the team, but in today’s fickle and dynamic world of sports economics, players and teams would rather wait to the last minute just to test the others’ resolve. it’s how negotiation works. You never offer how much you actually can afford to pay for a player. The first bid is always under or even considered to be parsimonious. This allows the selling party to then offer their overpriced value and the two parties can work from there to find a meeting point in value. Then there are personal terms with the player that usually is the easiest part but sometimes a snag can happen just like the Cahill to Chelsea deal. So having said this, I hope we can keep supporting our team rather than spitting slander on our coach or the team. Stay true to your club!

Again we wait until 31 January and then start negotiating!!!!! No rush no panic no crisi. Our defence is solid and we have striker (only1). So why wory guys? What is Wenger up to? No money? No concern? This club will seriously battle in league and wont get to Champs League next year. Can’t stand this anymore. Come on Gunners stand behins the poor guys who are trying to play. Sell Arshavin, Walcott, Squillaci, Chamakh, and get real players giving us depth and quality. Why do we have to wait and go to foreign leagues when there are seasoned campaigners in EPL?

Buy a striker/winger like podolski/matias suarez, a lwb/lm/lw like juan manuel vargas/aidan white(leeds) and we’re set. Will NEVER happen though. It never does with wenger. Its 100% sure for me that we will NOT be getting another striker this window. Let’s hope chamakh can find some semblance of form at the acn, thats our only hope

You people are seriously not pathetic to be worried about the Transfer window now when it just opened. Someone here said TW14 cant shoot but he wants him to play as a striker!!!!! the Logic is awesome around here.
Gotze and Rues were never going to come to us anyway. We have not been playing badly we have been terrible unlucky in games that we drew and lost recently.
RVP had how many shots at Goal in the last few games that he absolutely squandered. (RVP is pure CLASS)Shots that he should have been putting away easily. He has not been doing that lately. He has been getting awesome balls from G27, TW14, AR23, MA08, TR07 and YB30.
We have had some really bad calls go against us but that is football.
When BS03, AS11, CJ25 and KG28 comes back the Back 4 will look very impressive again.
We also have JW19 coming back.
If they Boss buys i do believe it will be somone he feels will add to the team and the structure.

Honestly I’m sick of holding my breath for certain players to join Arsenal. It’s just one dissapointment after the next. Wenger and the board will never fork out the kind of money for the calibur players we are all dreaming of. Hazard will never come to Arsenal when he’s had offers from Real Madrid, a team who will pay him triple what we have to offer and have a bigger reputation. Let’s just hope whoever Wenger decides to buy, (if he decides to buy anyone), it will be a good choice. We cannot have the same situation like last transfer window.
BUT if Wenger fails yet again, without a top 4 finish and trophy less season, I believe his time at Arsenal will be coming to an end. There is no way a club like Arsenal, with such a great history and dominance over the years, especially in 04/5 can dwindle to the mediocre team we are becoming. Personally I think a new manager with fresh ideas will do us good. How long will certain fans persevere and back a manager who is obviously turning this club upside down?? Take those tinted glasses off please.
I’m all for backing a manager who makes logical decisions especially in desperate times like now. If Arsenal want to remain a top team and actually win something (the whole reason we have professional sports) Wenger needs to spend BIG this transfer. There is no other way. Money talks and from what we keep hearing from Hill-Wood and Kroenke is that they have plenty of it. So why not spend it on QUALITY!?
It’s obvious we are in serious need of at least 3 QUALITY players. We all know that. The commentators know it. Even fans from other clubs know it. If Wenger does not buy anyone decent this transfer, we can then be sure he is living in a dreamworld, where according to him we are still the best club in Europe.
Sorry for the rant, but that is how a true Gunner feels. Very very worried, because as soon as we slip into mediocrity, it takes ten times the effort and even MORE money to get back to the top. Think about that.

Errr, well my logic being that the guy can’t dribble, has not got ONE trick up his sleeve to get past a player never gets his head up and creates anything and most definitely can’t cross even when there is no defender around him, on top of that he is isolated on the wing with no help, now my lack of logic which seems to “be a classic” to you is that if he was indeed playing as a second striker he would have help, I still stick with my statement that he has no technique in his shooting (hence his goal return and most his shots going 20 meters over the bar) heskey didn’t score many but had other attributes that made him a good striker as does theo, he would stretch defenses an get in behind which would free up space for van persie and the midfield, he would not be restricted to one position and go missing fit 40 minutes at a time in games. Before you try and mock people get some understanding of the game then come back and have a debate. Moron.

I’ve come to believe that Arsene Wenger doesn’t trust his squad. Talking about the substitutes. We played 3 games in 7 days and yet he stuck to the same starting 11 and only changed a few things. What’s the point of buying Ju Young Park when he hasn’t made his EPL debut in January and Wenger says he’s quality. I just think that he’s not quality because if he was, Wenger would’ve played him already. Think about it, If we signed Podolski last summer, would he have been waiting till January to make his debut. Also, Wenger has hardly ever given Arteta, Walcott, RvP, Song and co. a breather because he doesn’t have faith in his reserve options. That is hugely disappointing, I believe our starting 11 is good, but could be excellent if we buy a winger to provide competition for Theo/Gervinho and a striker to partner RvP (But we’ll have to sacrifice one midfielder). I just think that we need to sell a few players and bring in quality reinforcements as the squad has a lot of average players. Sell diaby Get an AM e.g Goetze, Sell Squillaci, get a versatile DEF. e.g. Vertonghen and sell Chamakh and get a good attacking player. We could even play a 4-4-2 with Song & Wilshere in the CM positions with Arteta as a quality reinforcement.

We havent got a chance this season. Maybe in FA cup. But in that we may still face one of the manchester clubs. And is anyone forgeting that we lost to both of them 3 times. And can anyone remember how Ibrahimovic played for Barca and blasted goals against us. Now there is Ibrahimovic, Pato, Boateng, Pato and some good ones there. If we dont have a good defence then we are fucked. Out of the FA, out of champions league and out of EPL and also CL. Dry saeson. I say all arsenal supporters go mad and campaing for wenger to buy champions league quality instead of bulshit youngsters.
I believe…that we atill can get Goetze,,,Podolski,,,Vertogen,,,and these players can change us.
