Arsenal rumours Jan 9th – Visca, Arshavin, Kalou, Hulk and Demba Ba
There are certainly a good selection of Arsenal transfer rumours around this morning, but I’m not sure how many of them are even close to being likely! There is no doubt that Arsenal need a proper backup striker for Robin Van Persie, especially with the possibility that the Dutchman could be leaving next summer.
So there are a few strikers being linked this morning and Chelsea’s Salomon Kalou looks like a good possibility. He has a good scoring rate in the Premiership and Wenger has made a bid for the 26 year-old in the past. Another point in his favour is that Thierry Henry was his idol as a youngster so I’m sure he would jump at the chance to play for Arsenal. And with just six months left on his contract he is available for just £3m. I could see Wenger going for that……
Another good deal would be getting the prolific Newcastle striker Demba Ba for just £7m (although yesterday we were told his buy-out clause was £10m). He certainly has proven Premiership form as well but I doubt very much he would be happy to sit on the bench and wait for Van Persie to get injured……
The most ridiculous bit of Arsenal transfer news this morning is the idea that Wenger would be willing to spend £100m to take the Porto striker the Hulk to the Emirates. That is one that I would definitely take with very large lumps of salt!
It has yet again been reported that Andrei Arshavin is going to be allowed to leave for any offers around £12m, despite Wenger himself having stated that the Russian isn’t going anywhere. He rarely plays like he wants to be at Arsenal but as Wenger sees him as a “possible” game-changer I can’t see him letting Arshavin leave until the end of his contract….
Another weird one is the news that the Bosnian winger Edin Visca believes that Arsenal scouts have been watching him for some time. He said: “I am very proud that such a big club is interested in me,”
“Who wouldn’t be happy about that? But right now I am an Istanbul BB player and I cannot think too much about the Gunners.
“Until something concrete happens, I will only think about Istanbul BB as I want to play in Turkey and be as good as I can. But, yes, I am happy and proud that such a big club wants me.”
He is a Bosnian international so he can’t be that bad, but having only joined Istanbul six months ago it is very doubtful that the Turkish Superliga side will be letting him move on so quickly, even if the rumours were true….

i am just disappointed that Mr.wenger hasn’t made any defensive signing up till now,I just hope this decision doesn’t bounce back on arsenal knowing we have lost 5 full backs and no replacement.

I think that I can speak for most when I say that gone is the time when the arsenal fans actually believed there was any truth in the transfer rumors.
We have seen the board take a great football club and turn it into a business, so to buy any player for 5 mill will only be possible if we sell someone in the current squad for double that amount and therefore leave a profit.
As I have mentioned in previous posts when David Dein was at the club he bought players like Patrick Vieira, Nicholas Anelka, Emmanuel Petit, Marc Overmars, Thierry Henry, Davor Suker, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, Gilberto, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie all of which have at least won one trophy.
Since Gazidis arrived he is just selling all our best players to his beloved Man City.
We need to accept the fact that the target of the board is to play in the CL and get the money that comes with that participation.
As long as we have Gazidis, Kroenke and a manager who earns 20 million a year and still has the nerve to talk of wage policy to players, we will win nothing.
The only good thing is that these lot will not be with the club forever so patience gooners we have a lot of heart break to endure but the club and fans will still be here when this lot have gone.

I would be happy to see Podolski sign, and I think he’s jump at the chance to. And as I don’t believe we’ll be able to sign the likes of Hazard or Götze, I think the amazingly promising youngsters will get more playing time. I would not be disappointed at all to see Ryo and The Ox on either flank supporting Robin. Every time they play they impress. This would give the repeatedly under performing Gervinho and Walcott something to think about.
I also wouldn’t mind seeing Arséne try a 4-4-2 with Park playing along side Robin, or maybe even Walcott up there which would cheer him up. But please stop playing Marouane as he looks as though he’s never played before. Loan him out, and if he doesn’t get his act together, sell him next year.

It looks like they are all peas in the same pod. Very dark future for Arsenal. Yes my heart is already starting to break. I’ll tell you the only people who can do anything about it are the fans. Come on guys cut wenger some slack he is the best manager in my opinion we are still in good standing regardless of the whole m,oney situation thing, the only reason most fans are unhappy is the fact that injuries seems to be what’s frustrating gunners I am a believer we don’t need to buy new players considering lack of attacking from our make shift full backs, I think that’s the problem. For example when vermaelen play left back he defends well but can’t attack like santos and when everybody is back from injuries I can see plenty of goals..I just love arsenal and I will always be optimistic, remember the invincible season? I believe we can repeat.

hulk rumours is totally a joke. he only wud go to hes former bos avb. n for 100m??that is totally a joke.the highest we go for is 16m. with economics like wenger and greedy board they wil only spend on quality player such as almunia and squid for free.cus they cn change the game. change the game to gve othr team 12 player on the pitch.n help the othr team to score.

Unfortunately as with any situation, in order for things to get better they need to get really bad first.
It won’t be easy for Kroenke to leave but my faith lies with the fact that Dein is a solid gooner and Ushmanov has had a VIP box for almost two decades and they are both regulars at the home games.
As long as they are close to the club and as long as they are waiting in the background for Kroenke to pack up and get lost if things don’t go the way he wants financially then we have the perfect men for the job.
It does look bleak I agree cos the yank won’t bugger off easily but what can we do.
I went to my first game 42 years ago and we have had some rough patches but always pulled through.
This club will always be around and good times will come if not in our lifetime then in our kids or grandkids.

I’d definitely like Demba Ba for Marouane Chamakh as a Central Striker and Hulk for Andrei Arshavin as a left winger. The others, we clearly don’t need them as even without a signing Arsenal we are still strong we just need exceptional players.
Also, What about Jan Vertoghen for Sebastian Squillaci?

The Arsenal fans can only speculate about the ambitions of the manager and the board. We therefore are only going to look at them manupulate the team because to wenger and the board,the common Ideology that you have to have a relative strong squard to win something is old fashioned only that they have failed to show us the new stratage.We are being fed on empty promises by the imprudent wenger.Athe begining of the season, he will boast and say this team has grown and ready to win the tittle. At the end of the seaso he will say we did very according to how we were rated at the begining of the season

As an Arsenal supporter, I view the transfer windows with great frustration. The holes in the side are glaring. We have plenty of money and there are players about that could fill those holes but nothing ever happens. They go on about wage structure yet they pay amazingly average players like Denilson and Squid, yet refuse to pay world class players their market value. There’s no structure there. There should be a three or four tier system whereby young players are at the bottom, the average bench warming type players earn between 25-40k a week, a third tier with our main core and then there would be plenty left for our world class, Van Persie types. Either way I’d give Kalou about a 60% chance of happening. The positive in that is he makes his biggest impact off the bench. He’s been a a fizzer when starting, and for 3-5m could be worth a punt as a back up option. Demba Ba I can’t see happening because Arsenal are too slow in signing players and another club like United, Tottenham or Chelsea won’t much around. Unless he wants to come to Arsenal. The entire Arsenal board is a joke and all needs to go.

I would be quite happy to take ba and kalou over chamakh and park. i would also nab alex as a replacement for squillaci sell arshavin and get hoilett. i would also sell fabianski and almunia and get the rangers keeper mcgregor. all affordable and realistic targets for a january window.
alex coming in would allow us to stop worrying about the full back positions as we could use djourou kos and tv in those roles till sagna jenkinson santos and gibbs are fit. apparently chelsea will accept 6m for alex and kalou for me that is a no brainer we could easily get that for squillaci and park. i think most french teams would pay around 7m for chamakh so a little bit extra to land ba has to be done. the funds for fabianski and almunia would be enough to land mcgregor and hoilett wpuld cost no more than arshavins transfer fee.
for me the.big stumbling block is that u can only add 3 players to your champions league squad henry is going to be one of them so i cannot see wenger adding too many more or letting too many more leave. someone has to go from the non homegrown list to make way for henry. though i have a feeling we may not register him for blackburn and sunderland as it wont be worth it.

Its not fun the way Wenger procrastinates; since he knows what we need, why delay till u cant get good available replacements? My advice is he beefs up the defence ASAP & get a killer striker that has the drive &future of RVP & IGWE(Henri)… Food for thought wenger!!!

Van Persie needs to see world class players brought in to the club if he is to sign a new contract.
Demba Ba would be a great asset, but a world class creative midfielder/winger is needed. Gervinho & Walcott are sometimes good but way too inconsistent.
Sell Fabianski, Squillaci, Bendtner, Arshavin & Chamakh.
Bring in. Demba Ba & Gotze/Hazard. I would quite like to see Wenger make a bid for Adam Johnson. Amazing player but hardly gets a game at City. He would walk into our side….

January isn’t the time to be looking at players from other leagues unless they have a history in the prem, whether theyre internationally proven players or not, you hear people say this is the hardest, fastest and most physical league in the world and its not with out good reason they say this. To bring in some one from a league that pails in comparison based on the players good stats in that league is fool-hardy and naive. Kalou would be a good signing, hes a strong dominating player, PROVEN prem player with a good history at chelsea and lets face it Coite d’ivoir being french speaking im sure he’d fit in. Find me a fact to prove he wouldnt be a good fit and ill take it all back.

But the most painful side of it is that despite he knows all you said is nothing but the truth, he will not act untill those who need those players come for them. Pls dont tell him that kalou is not the right type for us tell him to pay 3m for him, he will not. not mentioned BA, poldoski and samba. Wherever Hulk rumour surface be it from wenger himself believe you me “that is cracy” and we are fools to believe it. wenger who failed to pay 17m for Mata, 25m for Hazard, 20m for Gotze even 12m for cahil and 10m for Ba will now goto such lenght to pay 100m for Hulk is outstragious. There are only a few things to note when Wenger deals with a club or a player.
1. If club or agent leaks details about a deal, Wenger will almost always retract any offer.
2. Wenger never talks about anyone prior to unveiling or selling.
3. Arsenal scout alot of players so inevitably many players will be linked. Usually the stars at those clubs. This means nothing. He is usually looking at the unexpected.
4. Arsene virtually always signs players the press and the fans weren’t looking at or considering.
5. Players have to come in at a wage that fits the structure, all the worlds best therefore cannot come here.
6. Will never sign a high profile player with an Ego to match.
Basically, don’t expect anything to happen that will blow your socks off. Expect the Jenkinson, Ignasi, Benayoun type deals within this regime.

Can someone pls explain how we have usmanov (the 2nd richest behind the shiek) who cannot become majority share holder. He would invest in players and probably pay off outstanding debt on stadium putting us in a strong position to compete with the very best in Europe instead of hoping Chelsea and tottenham slip up so we can get into the top 4. Is it all to do with bringing back David Dein, I think so. Unfortunately I believe the current board will only sell shares as long as they won’t be sold on to usmanov.

He know everything more than his scout… Steve rowley said when arsenal had a goalkeeper issue a few years ago, wenger told rowley to scout bangladesh keeper… Wow he know every single player in the world even far far away like bangladesh.. What worries me is I still think Wenger wants to win things. Also I worry he might call it a day soon if the transfer policy and ambition continue to sink. Lets look at it this way; if Wenger was the problem and the board and owner wanted trophies he would be long gone. As a manager and as with any company manager you only go out there and carry out the instruction of your superiors. You can recommend changes but you can only do so much. I think he loves this club and would like to retire here but he might be forced to throw in the towel soon. As we can see he is a man who is willing to change for the sake of getting result. That shows in the last transfer with him making an unprecedented U-Turn to his model by going all out for experience. For Gax and Kron it’s all about money. They come out and say Wenger can do whatever he wants, he has all the power but we also know to buy a player, Wenger can only choose who, its gaz job to come up with the money and that is our prob. Lets say Wenger want Ronaldo, Eden, and Hulk, as we are told he has a free ticket to ride do you think Gazidi will approve and come up with the money??? Tough place to be in as a gunner but we will prevail. If they succeed in sinking the club just like vultures they will leave when there is no more millions rolling in and we will bounce back

i think sell wollcot and play chamberlain or play 4-4-2 the best formation to play with 2 great strikers and put the wingers in to lm and rm if the ba or podaliski is true then why not have them up there since gervinho and wollcot cant shoot to save there life and we have park he really good at shooting we have a good squad its just mr wenger isnt playing them in there strong points like now we have ramsey in att mid insted of ateta

You forget we need to offload some of the underproforming players, but who will buy bentner? we have brought so many mr average players, who are either now on loan or warm the bench, instead of getting 10 mr averages lets buy 3 world class players, I also think our scouts need to be sacked, the crap we brought in the few years is terrible. Wenger came with a list of players he wanted. now his list is questionable. we cannot afford not to finish in the top four Mr Wenger, no more Mr average.

you know what? I’d just be happy with matias suarez and maybe an emergency LB (no we dont need abidal he’s done terrible this season & England is a lot harder to defend in than Spain).
Also i doubt we clear out the deadwood in january as not many people are looking for unneeded bargains at this time of year.

But to the point, buy kalou hes proven himself a good premier league player and goalscorer and speaks french, he would certanly fit in, But to be fair i know wenger doesnt want to sign a big player but i say give it a go, we havnt got all that much to lose.

The board need to go. Wenger does amazing with what he has buy ever since Dein left he hasn’t had the support. Dein left because he fell out with the other board members and their lack of ambition.
I know as a group Arsenal fans are notoriously quiet, but i think it may be time to organise protests outside the stadium to get the current lot out. If we don’t act soon we will be the ones to regret it.
Nothing against Wenger… in my opinion he has held us together when other managers of his caliber would have left to join someone with more ambition. We need the board out though and Dein back..

Im a true arsenal fan i believe our team is ok but i think we could do with a striker to go up top with RVP, possibly Demba Ba if not then i think podolski would be ideal too. we could improve in midfield but with jack coming back its looking okay buy maybe could look for Mario Gotze

Gotze has already said he only wants to go to Spain, why do people keep mentioning his name when he doesn’t want to even play in the country, let alone for our club. Even if we got him, he turn out to be another Cesc episode down the track.

ITS THE BOARD MEMBERS SUCH AS KROENKE AND GAZIDIS WHO ARE RUINING THE CLUB.THEY AR THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING HIGH PROFILE PLAYERS AND NOT BRINGING ANY ONE OF WORLD CLASS QUALITY.aLL THEY WANT IS JUST MORE AND MORE MONEY.FUCK UP TO THEM…IF I COULD THEN I WOULD HAVE KILLED BOTH OF THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE RUINING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CLUB…THEY DONT WANT TROPHIES,,,THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE FANS..ALL THEY WANT IS JUST MONEY…AND FOR WENGER I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY BBECAUSE HE HAS TO DO AALL THAT TRHINGS WHICH THE BOARD MEMBERS WANT..THE CLUB NAMED ARSENAL WHO WRER ONCE INVINCIBLES HAS NOW DROWNED LIKE THE FALLING SUN..I CANT SEE TH BRIGHT FUTURE OF THE CLUB WITH SUCH OWNERS OF THE CLUB..
