Arsenal rumours July 18th – Fab4 update, Melo, Biglia, Jagielka, Campbell and Denilson
Well the Arsenal transfer rumours are now in full throttle and I can hardly keep track of them all at the moment! Obviously the big one is Cesc Fabregas, and the Mail reckons that he told Wenger today that he wants to move no matter what. I am beginning to think that may be true as Wenger (after saying he expected Fabregas to play against Koln) has now said that he may be left behind.
Wenger said: “We will have to see how far he is with his injury. Normally, yes he will go.”
“He is not back in full training. He is back running on the pitch and the next step is to be back in full training. I will have to assess him on Monday.”
That doesn’t sound very promising. There isn’t another Grand Prix on this weekend is there? But the question arises as to whether Wenger is inventing these injuries (he’s done it before) while negotiations are going on. I mean, Fabregas didn’t look to be in pain while he was jetskiing with his new Spanish bird on holiday…..
Now Felipe Melo is coming up as an Arsenal target again. We know Wenger was keen on him before (he admitted it publicly) and it is possible he could get him cheaply now. He certainly has the height and experience Arsenal need, but he was totally slated by the Juventus fans last season. Is he worth bringing in? I doubt it….
Joel Campbell is apparently having a fitness test today and being a typical Wenger signing this is obviously true, and he may be the next Thierry Henry. I bet that Wenger is hoping that turns out to be true, but after just a few games for his club (in the Costa Rican League!) that remains to be seen. (Fingers crossed!)
Phil Jagielka coming to Arsenal has been touted for a while, but I have trouble believing this one. David Moyes doesn’t sell any of his players unless forced, so the news that Jagielka “snubbed” Arsenal sounds like simple media bullsh*t. And whoever suggested that Wenger would pay £15m for an ordinary English player is obviously deluded. I don’t think he was ever even asked…….
Biglia, wiglia, didlia. Who the hell is Lucas Biglia. Okay he is an Argentina international playing in Belgium and wants to move up in the world, but how that equates to Arsenal and Liverpool being interested is totally beyond me. I just can’t believe a word of it, which probably means that Wenger will sign him tomorrow…..
So on to the much-maligned Denilson. Like Bendtner he had great hopes of being snapped up by a top European club, but with a serious lack of offers from Spain and Italy, there is nothing left for him but to return to his home (Sao Paolo) and try and rebuild his reputation. Wenger made a serious error of judgement when he thought he might turn out as the new Kaka, and Arsenal will now have to accept the loss and get on with it.
Denilson may be “sad” to leave Arsenal, but there won’t be many Arsenal fans sad to see him go………

Denilson could have been better if he was played in a more attacking midfield position, he was awful at CDM. I wish him all the best but am a bit relieved not to have to see him in Arsenal colours this season.

1. If Fabregas is leaving, I hope we can sign Eriksen from Ajax. MU had started to show their interest on him.
2. Denilson, well, good for him and us. Wishing him all the best and thanks for all the contribution to the club.
3. Bendtner, well, I certainly hope Wenger will at least try to ask Everton to swap him with Baines rather than loan him to Everton only. I don’t we can rely on Gibbs and Traore.
4. Why we allow Shay Given to go to Aston Villa? Aren’t offloading Almunia and isn’t Shay Given a good challenge to Szczesny?
5. Why we took so long to seal the deal for Gervinho? Some people really slow in doing things.
6. Melo, nope, don’t want him. Biglia who is part of the team that got early exit in their home soil? Well, need to see some video clip on him before I can decide.
7. Joel Campbell, I have no idea who is this guy at all.
8. Jagielka, no, I don’t think Everton will sell him.
9. Hey, what happened to Garry Cahill and Samba? What happen to the DCM that we need when Song is away?
10. What happened to Rosicky, Squilacci, Diably… how come they are still around? How much longer before we can sell Eboue and Almunia?

current players such as song or wishere have shown how a player can and probably should develop at arsenal. denilson only got himself to blame in my opinion, its not like he hasnt had his fair share of playing time.

Guys, did you hear what Gazidis had to say today? He said Moan U, Chelski and Mean City will dominate titles because of the resources they have. Question begs here – I thought Stan Kronkie is a billionaire!
I thought Wenger is the problem but given Gazidis mentality we are blaming the wrong guy. I am disappointed.
Good news finally though; denilson and clichy are gone. Bendtner and Eboue next to go(what a good riddance). That leaves three more dead-meats in the team – rosicky, diaby and squalici. The later may not go because it was his first season though i don’t see him improving. As to the other two, i don’t want to see the prospect of going to newcastle in our first game and rosicky and diabby in the team – that would be a terrible scenario. I’m suffering already.

What happens if Barca doesn’t have 40-45m for Fab? I saw they could be in final talks for Sanchez. Doubt they can spend 80m this window unless they sell Villa.
I wonder what Wenger will do, club can’t offer what he’s looking for and having a player in a team that he doesn’t want to be at?

Fabregas has mentally gone from Arsenal, he may be forced to stay another year but it will be like Henrys last year mainly injured. Our defence looks as naive as ever, Walcott had a mare and as in so many games should have had at least two goals. Those that believe he will become a second Henry are mad. The whole team apart from Gibbs Ramsey and Wilshire seemed not too bothered. Wenger is doing what he does best and sign young talent..but what about this coming season? Clichy gone, Fabregas unsettled, Nasri in contractual dispute, the more experienced players seem to want to leave. The substance and Arsenal mentality has gone from the club replaced with pretty boy football and promises to the future. Wenger is excellent at protecting players and their mediocrity while having massive patience with their development. Look at Denilson, Bendtner,Diaby, Walcott, Eboue etc etc..have they truly delivered apart from the occasional promise. I wanted to say this last year but thought better and give one more chance. In many ways last year was the worst for many seasons. We will win nothing with youngsters.. we are as most people say a development business. I will support from a distance and reluctant to pay the increased prices at the Emirates. RIP the invincibles.

Is there no hometeam wanting to have Squilacci, all the players in arsenal should at least have a home team … Denilson to Sao-Paolo, Squilacci and Diaby to Sao-Francelo, Eboue to Sao-D’vour, Almunia to Sao-Mayorka etc

to be fair melo didn’t chose juventus over us he had a stunning world cup wanted to come but they out bid us same old same old. people please get it in to your head diaby will not leave arsenal arsene wenger personally likes (hence why he started ahead of wilshere at tottenham) and what it seems like where not even pushing nasri to sign a new contract that’s all i care about this summer

AW is dumb as a mule. sell cesc ALREADY!! we all know that he doesn’t want to be at arsenal, will NOT sign any contract extension in the future and his value will go down in relation to the number of years left on his contract.
IT’S A NO BRAINER!!!

I seriously think some people are being hard on denilson, he was played outta position so many times and that’s when he played poorly! Wenger signed him as a more creative player but tried to make him a cdm so its really wengers fault that denilson became a flop! The 1 season where he played a bit in his preferred position he did well and was scoring some great goals

Is Wenger wiser than man u the reigning champion, who are set for next season? Or Man city who won the FA & are battle ready to even to win more? Don’t you see Wenger’s actions are ludicrous. I think & believe that ‘A FOOL @ 40 is A FOOL forever’. Imagine, he wants to be successful without any investment

for those who didnt read my coment:
wenger wouldnt get this kind of criticism had he not been very successfull in his beginning years at arsenal.its a fact dat d time le prof came 2 arsenal,we were nothing in terms of transfer budget compared 2 teams like united.arsene is like a father whos gave his son a taste of SOMETHING WONDERFULL which d son is not used to,and after dat 1st experience son wouldnt settle for anything less…….
so wat i mean is arsenal fc is ‘WORK IN PROGRESS’.biggest mistake wenger did was not keeping players like viera, pires etc.dat is one thing i hate abt him(not giving 1+ yrs contract 2 players above 30).if he had kept them,we cud hav achieved so much with watevr transfers wengers made(i was of d opinion dat viera snubbed us for assistant coach bcos wenger sold him like ‘A FARMER GETTING RID OF A LOYAL OLD DOG WHO IS NO LONGER USEFULL 2 HIM.same goes 4 pires).if u cud relate 2 d importance of schole and giggs in united, then u will understand wat i mean………

No more Melo, he’s gonna join Galatasaray. The worst part is the loan is worth £2mil with an option to buy him at £3mil.
